lanikai
2008 Cousteau Diver Genuine . . . . . BTW.. the second pic is the Replication the last click ends here.. the area in between the markers is free wheeling for adjustment.. it seems they did not retool the gearing,it's a "modded fix" After rotating the DW a couple of rotations the wheels aligned properly.. this was set straight out of the box without rotatting. Raised lettering ~ Subs ~ @12 Swiss ~ Nice colour match Case ~ .... btw the strap texture is in between the 06 CD and the AT.. very comfortable .. just right amount of rigidness.. Crown ~ Pushers Case Back ~ Nice surprise.. note .. the lume is not charged it will need a few day's out of the box in natural light to become fully charged.. but look at what is getting charged !!! the 9 is starting to bring it... I will add commentary tomorrow .. thanks for viewing.. Lani
mjmurphy926
Great shots Lani!! I realize the tight macro shots show all the warts not normally seen with the naked eye, but that dial looks kind of sloppy in some places, most notable around 1:00. It seems there is some glue squeeze out under the marker and maybe some lume splatter (?) on the dial. How does it look in person?

Corgi
What's up with the flaky lume and the visible glue stains? I think that's how all reps look when shot in super macro at enormous resolution... I doubt the flaws are visible with the naked eye, wt. Beautiful shots, Lanikai... the bright shade of light blue mixed with the yellow hues is certainly an eye catching combination. I think in terms of style it's suited more towards a younger demographic (under 25) so it might look a little out of place on me; but definitely a welcome addition to the IWC lineup and obviously heaven for fans of the brand. Like the universe.. somethings are added somethings are subtracted.. .. proof that you cannot "have it all".. yes, "this dial" has some sloppy work .. but you cannot see it with the naked eye.. and Joshua will take care of it.. so I'm not stressed .. plus it will make it's way hopefully to Canada .. maybe with the extra lume work, they had extra hands working on it.. luck of the draw man.. .. not an excuse for them just a fact.. hopefully not everyones dial will look like this in macro's .. but again.. honestly you cannot see it without the macro or loupe.. coolfire Posted Today, 07:37 PM WOW... This might just be my next watch for the new year.... After the Deep Sea, that is... Thanks alot for the beautiful pictorial! Thank you CF !! all the blue dial reps that came out this past year didn't do much for me .. but this.. the blue is like the genuine and the genuines blue is great.. lanikai
MJ .. sorry missed your last Q... it looks awesome in person.. and is really light... probably cause I have had the DS on my wrist all week.. nothing in the macro can be seen with the naked eye.. I took the pics in low exposure.. cause all the genuine pics I find are imaged as such..

lanikai
What's up with the flaky lume and the visible glue stains? just to clarify what corgi stated... I don't use a "Macro setting".. I use a seperate Marco lens .. it's like shooting through a microscope... the particles you see cannot be seen with the naked eye.. .. it just takes longer since everything is Manual settings.. it's better than an auto.. you can manipulate the area to be macro'd

Watchmeister
Nice pics but I wouldn't spend a lot of time on a review on this one. There are at least two previous versions and I know what the demographic is for this watch.... Cousteau fetishists who need to have every piece of Cousteau memorabilia. IMHO, this is their worst version yet. And as for the crayoned blue on the caseback.... This watch has gotten less appealing to me every year. Time for IWC to move on. Time for IWC to move on. the Holiday madness is almost over kruzer.. man what a grouch Some of us waited awhile for this one.. although I still think the 06 beats all .. and maybe IWC should have just stopped .. they didn't.. and some members don't have the previous repped versions .. so,... don't know about the inner bezel problem that the rep was issued with.. there are some improvements as far as the maker attempting more ... upgraded strap .. etc... and athough I agree we all "know" the layout of the dial and case .,.. yada, yada...... previous owners of the 06 and sadly the 07 aren't the only members on the boards.. but so be it.. no need to review .. as you wish.. Watchmeister
Lani- Not trying to be a grouch. Yes, I think it is an ugly watch and on the gen they should have stopped after the first (or maybe the second) version. But of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion. More importantly though, I know how time intensive reviews are and knowing you how limited your time is. Since this is the third iteration of this watch I would much rather see you use your time on a new watch. And yes the first is the best. You can't beat a commemorative watch which has a piece of the boat for which the watch is commemorated. When they are reduced to coloring in the caseback.... perhaps it is time to stop reissuing. -Kruz

But thank you .. kruz, for your growing concern .. I will keep in mind which watch you would want me to review..

Toadtorrent
Thanks for putting this together Lani. I actually like the colour schematic of this one, but am not so sure I would need to add one to the stables. I always enjoy your macro work R...great stuff as always. That lens hides nothing. lanikai
Lani@ If i remember correct you have the Nikon D60? What macro lens you use? Great pics as always thanks. Hi Dani, Hope you are having a great Holiday Season in the land of Vikings.. On the Advice of my buddy (who is a professional Photographer) I got the "Sigma Macro Lens" .. made for Nikon .. it is a manual , he said .. "learn how to use the manual settings on the Nikon" he told me the manual will produce better images if you can learn how to use it.. so I learned just by experimenting with all the settings .. for light .. in other words I manipulate the light .. not through the lamps .. but through the settings.. .. I am still waiting for Nikon to correct the problems and release their own Macro " (Nikon Macro about 1000 usd) .. all the pro's at the Camera shop tell me not to get the Macro Lens made by Nikon (yet) .. although it is auto.. for some reason .. (that I cannot remember them saying) .. Nikon has had technical problems with it... you do need a heavy tripod for the macro (manual .. the one I have) .. even though the camera has the anti vibration mechanism.. the macro lens is ultra sensitive. But then again you are talking to an "amateaur".. I have gotten into the habit of "holding my breath" whist focusing the lens, you can miss the shot easily.. since it is a manual.. that is the reason I take so long with taking the images.. and have to take many for 1 to work (for me) .. I am too picky at times.. hope that helps .. Aloha~Cheers L

The macro lens by Nikon is great for the FX format (the older lenses). They don't have a decent DX lens for macro. It's one of the big reasons I'm waiting for the FX format to drop in price. You could use the timer function or a remote trigger to make up for the lighter tripod. I don't use my pro gear anymore as I haven't shot pro stuff for a few years (used to do sports photography)...and it's all film based.
