fotoman Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 ok, its a long story, i don't have a long ime - i'm working and sleeping and thats about it. But, i've gotten me a little hobby so that i can widdle my stress away - and its making pens - I'm loving it, and i have a line a mile long at work of people that want them. Anyway, i got - for lack of a better word a "pvd" pen. You buy the metal parts then you get wood or acrylic and make away here is a photo of the ikit - pay NO attention to the wood color, jus the PVD black parts, i need to know, what color should i use to make this pen. ideas?
KB Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 I would like to see how it looks with Western Red Cedar, can you put the pic into Photoshop and change the wood colour? Ken
Samurai Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 Are you looking to use only Wood or can you use any metallic finish as well? Would be intersting to see how this might look with a silver'ish body and perhaps also a full black one.

fotoman Posted March 6, 2009 Author Report Posted March 6, 2009 its my damn keyboard, The T is very difficult to show up i almost have o go back o it every oher time to put i baack in i thought black, and yellow for high contrast was what the idiot line said
thw Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 That particular pen almost looks like a spalted maple that's stained. If you want a wild combination consider something like waterfall bubinga with alternating laminated layers of ebony. Burl's are always spectacular but can be unstable to turn. Woodwork is a longtime hobby of mine... especially exotics. Here are some photos of past projects... Feel free to ask questions counselor.
mjmurphy926 Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 Looks nice Phoband!! Is that Zebrawood? That's a nice choice. How about purpleheart? My favorite wood for pen making is cocobolo. Fun hobby isn't it?
