Orient A 'genuine' Sub Replica?

Reading several topics on the forum I'm under the impression that some of you, like me, are not fully comfortable with wearing a Sub rep. Although you and I definitely adore the looks it's just because Rolex (reps) are so well known (notorious).

Maybe I'm only reflecting on myself here...

What is your opinion on the Seiko daughter: Orient, that replicated the Sub quite nicely and called it Diver 100M.

Here you can find an good photo shoot and review of the watch:

Here's a William Marshall Submariner, from Switzerland, with 200m, 660 ft WR and a 2824-2 ETA movement.

I picked one up on ebay for $200 and some change. I bought it for swimming and diving so I wouldn't have to wear my real Sub and we all know that reps aren't waterproof, but I'm working on that next.

I have the Orient watch you are inquiring about. There are some noticeable differences versus a rolex submariner. Mostly, it is the more subdued, matte, charcoal dial versus glossy black rolex dial. The hour markers aren't as white (not as much contrast). The band, while an excellent rolex submariner reproduction, is not as thick as a submariner bracelet. Finally, the hour markers and hands don't luminesce very well in the dark. For these reasons, and because I eventually bought two rolex sub reps and a genuine, I am wanting to sell the Orient. Still want one?

Call me crazy but there are a lot of watches, mostly affordable ones that I won't wear just because of the names . . Orient is one of them that screams cheap asian knock off more than a cheap asian knock off does. .

looks like crap. avoid this watch. get a MBW 1665/1680 and mod it. or get PAULS 'so called ultimate'. if you must get a gen get a SECTOR or TAG.
