  1. Its not all hopeless though. You might find one watch, for me its my ceramic pam with distressed leather strap, that you JUST CAN'T GET OFF! It makes all other reps just look, bleh. It won't last forever mind you. But it might give your bank account a bit of a break!
  2. My Go-to guy for servicing reps is in Newmarket, just north of you. PM me and I'll hook you up.
  3. I've owned many a Rolex rep over the years of many types and qualities from all our dealers. The one consistant problem that send them to the watchmaker is the markers falling off the face. Does this EVER happen with Gens?
  4. I don't think I could put up with the Paner ai or the Rattrap ante. Dial flaws like that are the worst!
  5. Love my 292 . . . ceramic mmmmmmmmmmm.
  6. I Don't usually post wristiez but damn I'm likin this watch!
  7. Cool, when do we see the pictures of your new loved one?
  8. Yup you're headed back to 32 bit land. I have a Lenovo T61P 64 bit that I'm using as my main machine these days. I wanted to make use of all the memory for virtual machines so that means 64 bit host. I settled on 2003 server since it is basically XP 64. almost everything works except the damn sound. No go. When you need a low level driver like that someones gotta compile it specifically. If they don't your're out of luck. Give me the code, I'll compile it for 64 bit xp!
  9. I lerk all over the place but this it the best forum. Haven't had much time to be anywhere lately tho. That's what cool about being into watches . . even when your so freakin busy at least you have a toy with you all the time!
  10. I'm going to have to disagree. What we've seen enough of is standard run-of-the-mill movements with a tourby stuck on them. ANY of the brands that are at least trying to be creative by making their own movements and using new materials are fine by me. Even if the end product is ugly. Too many watches that cost 10K and are somebodys shell with an ETA 2836-2 is what lead to the uprising of reps in my opinion.
  11. And those milling machines are pretty expensive so thats why they just cast them out of plastic . . Superluminova, yes. . . but the stuff they put on Timex's is NOT superlume and I'd call it acceptable. Is this the last hold out of the rep collector? We demand that everthing else on our reps be as close as possible but we put up with total crap lume?
  12. So I got my BR03 from trusty the other day. It's the PVD one with the orange hands and numbers. This watch is damn near perfect but for all the work they put into making these things identical, the numbers aren't lume and the hands are some sad 24 second glow stuff. WHY??!! I mean I knew this before I ordered the watch and I still love the damn thing, but if they can get everything else right, why not the lume?
  13. I must say this was a tough read . . I have been AWOL from the forum for quite some time. The super-reps were getting me down, dealer tricks, general confrontational attitudes and just too much time. I just started reading again today and was delighted to see we have some women participating (woo hoo!) than I had to read this. I'll miss you The Zigmeister . . I love the tech stuff.
  14. I've checked these out at the 'timezone' stores here in Canada. Very good quality I must say. If it were mechanical I'd be all over it.
  15. Last time I was in the Diamond district I found a fleamarket kind of place that was selling some pretty wicked gens. Tried on a Mille that was bargain priced at 24K. The Kids working the counter were wearing Pateks and APs!!!
  16. Looks like they keep the same three girls tied up all the time. I'd hope they at least have more than three watches! ./ro
  17. OK So I Don't have a picture of my workspace handy (Cuz I'm at work work) but this is of the best threads I've read in a while . . . Agreements?
  18. The RO I have seems to see more wrist time than most of my other reps. The only thing that has really troubled me about it is the AP logo at 12. If they've fixed that and not farged anything else up I am SO onto this. The (silix) RO I have has an awesome ar coating is water proof to deep swimming pool depths and is the shorts to suit champion of watches. Pleeeze let this be my answer!
  19. Call me crazy but there are a lot of watches, mostly affordable ones that I won't wear just because of the names . . Orient is one of them that screams cheap asian knock off more than a cheap asian knock off does. .
  20. A buddy of mine was in china a few weeks back and he picked up a PAM with a "tourbillon" (aka exposed balance) that is ###### near that fugly. . ergh!
  21. Dude . . Don't waste her money (unless you don't really like her!) Honestly I have a few gens and a lot of reps. If you go for swiss movements and are careful about the reps you choose, you'll regret spending the money on gens . .
