The only thing about the cars they copy is that they HAVE to concentrate more on crash safety! And they cut some corners on the materials...

Everyone said that about Japan 20 - 30 years back.. the usual comments.. can't design anything.. only know how to copy. Back then it may have been a little true, but look at them today. China will be the same.

I disagree.

Japan is something complete diffrent to China Past and present.

I'm with Logan, it's a small step from copying an item to adding your own innovations.

The problem with the cars featured here is that they lack (as previously pointed out) the safety standards we expect, but it wont be long before China wakes up to the very large market share they can have, if the produce their own cars that meet those standards and at a lot less than what we pay now.
