Cats Posted June 7, 2009 Report Posted June 7, 2009 Does anyone know this guy besides his vintage pearl slaes. Is this dial close or completally off http://cgi.ebay.de/Free-Shipment-Submarine...93%3A1|294%3A50 Would like to know the opinion of the experts. Carpe Diem Cats
JoJo35 Posted June 7, 2009 Report Posted June 7, 2009 I've never bought any of his dials, but I think a few here have. It looks like a good rep white 1680 dial. How far are you going with your franken? If the answer is "all the way", you may be better off considering a gen dial JJ
alligoat Posted June 8, 2009 Report Posted June 8, 2009 I agree w/ JoJo. The "Submariner" printing on that dial doesn't look too good. Dial feet are correct for the 1575 movt. But for $129 at least you're not out too much money. Next step up is gen or NDT. Don't know how hard it is to find good gen dials these days- too many of us franken builders out there!
Star69 Posted June 8, 2009 Report Posted June 8, 2009 if you get exactly this dial - go for it - looks as good as NDT minus the rip-off price and 1000 times better than the dial you have in your watch now cheers, Frank
Cats Posted June 8, 2009 Author Report Posted June 8, 2009 thnxs guys fot the opinions and advise. Frank the dial which is on my 1680 is indeed way off. Omega told me so before he did the lume job at my reqeust. Carpee Diem Cats

alligoat Posted June 8, 2009 Report Posted June 8, 2009 The MBW white 1680 dial from Eurotimez would at least have eta dial feet- with a relume, it might be pretty cool. And it's not as flawed as the red 1680 dial, IMO.
ubiquitous Posted June 8, 2009 Report Posted June 8, 2009 Typical HK dial; same as CWP offers. Serifs give it away.
polexpete Posted June 9, 2009 Report Posted June 9, 2009 How far are you going with your franken? If the answer is "all the way", you may be better off considering a gen dial JJ Problem with gen 1680 dial is that they won't fit in the MBW case and have to be shaved a fair bit. Not sure you want to be doing that with a gen dial, it will render it worthless. Apologies for advertising but i've got a good quality 1680 dial already shaved, check out tools and parts section to see a pic. Cheers P.
