Guys, do you mean this one :

IWCAQblack.jpg

Of course is a low end 21j version, with wrong datewheel color and painted bezel insert instead of crystal/Sapphire. But well, for just US$ 88 (after rebate) at Watch Eden, I think it's a bargain, it's also avaible with white dial.

It's true...not very accurate...but for $88 you don't expect much and close "enough" on many accounts.. A good deal too, especially if it's good for swimming.

Dear rep makers,

We do not like that shiny glossy crappy PVD. We did not like it on the PAM 292. We did not like it on the Blacksteel. We do not like it on this Aquatimer. Gen Makers do not use it because it looks like a turd. A shiny turd. We know you will come out with a matte version in a few months for $125 more but this time how about skipping the cheap stuff.

Thanks

The Galapagos rep is out soon:

although it looks more like PVD than rubber.

IMO, its not a deal breaker (being PVD) as I'd think that a rubber coating would catch on clothes too much...? Its not like I'd wear a rep to go scuba diving...

Here is how it works for the Galapagos lovers....

Buy version 1 shiny pvd 278 - June

Buy version 2 matte pvd 328 -July

Buy version 1 rubber coating that wears off after looking at it wrong 378 - August

Buy version 2 rubber coating that lasts a few months and realize they changed the bezel and the version 1 pvd was better 428 - October

Re Buy version 1 pvd and swap bezels.

Cry....

:)

I'm hopeful that the rep makers will release a full Trojan-ENZ ribbed-for-her-pleasure rubber coated version of the Galapagos... Full protection for when you're diving in...

Another reason not to buy one.....

Look carefully at the Galapagos caseback (also on Kings site)

"ANUATIMER"

WTF?! This is a sick joke, right?

The normal version seems ok. What is going here?

LOL!

I also noticed another "problem": the serials are "2345678" now, I know serials mean Jack Sh.... but, i would've thought it'd be a little more convincing.

So far, the growing list of flaws:

wrong sub dials colour on the blue

...the blue and orange shades could also be too light?

date wheel colour on the black/yellow

wrong shape bezel teeth

matte dial instead of part matte/part satin

Schaffhausen text alignment

shiny PVD coating instead of matte rubberised on the G/Islands

silly serial numbering

even sillier ANUATIMER spelling on Galapagos Islands caseback

the normal Aquatimers, dont have a silver rehaut, it is dial colour

It's stuff like that that almost makes me walk away from reps.

The new aquatimers look terrible compared to the slevin, etc. I think 'anustimer' would actually be a more fitting name... haha.

seriously though, the new aquatimers do not look like they should $4000... not even close. I don't know what iwc was thinking when they designed these
