  1. Finally! Much to my surprise the letter carrier delivered my VCO this morning. Angus (PureTime) and I thought it got lost in the mail. I placed the order on July 19th and today is Sept 4th. China to California in 6 and a 1/2 weeks! Angus was an excellent TD and was working on resending me a new order with QC pics! Wow! I'm very happy to finally get my hands on a VCO and it will definitely help me determine if I want the gen. So far I really like it a lot. Its 42mm size fits my 6.5" wrist perfectly. Here are a few quick pics but they do not do this watch justice. The watch is pristine and I used my iPhone 4s but it gives you a good idea of how it looks. I'm really surprised that this watch is not a lot more popular on the forums. I really love the DW placement. It's so much easier to read than at the 3 o'clock position. Anyway, it's a beauty. Enjoy;

  3. I would wait for the cases mentioned above. The other alternative would be a JewelryandWatch (phong) or Ming Quy (Vietnam) yuki or NDT. i have no experience with these cases. but lots of others here have. The MBW case is nice and much cheaper, but it will not take a genuine dial (Dial diameter is too small for the case) thus no point in using a genuine movement, etc.Tritium genuine handsare available occasionally on the Vintage Rolex forum Sales Corner, Ebay, etc. They will be pricy though. The biggest problem with building a franken 1680, you could very easily have almost as much in the franken as you would going out and buying a genuine in r4easonable condition. Before I spent 4k building one, I would try to find a gen for a little more.

  4. Stage 4: The person who appreciates vintage Rolex's for their simplicity of design, classic looks and robustness. Recognises that they are just a piece of machinery which can be replicated at a fraction of the cost of the 'genuine' article and builds himself a fantastic rep and wears it with pride telling all and sundry that it is what it is, a replica of an iconic watch.

  6. Welcome to RWG. Its a great place to be. There is a member here who is developing some very good gen like cases. He is at prototype stage at the moment and hopefully will be able to roll out production very soon.

  7. Not quite... Notice the RB2 with AR & Lume I'll be posting photos of the order from Angus as it arrives also. I'll need the expertise on this forum to get the most out of each mod for each watch, I won't need the jealousy and ignorance from the doubters & haters though.

  9. Hi Dr Zee: your posts are now daily 'required reading'! I'm sure you're correct that the rep GP crown is SS, but have to say they've done a good job of making it look plastic! I had a brief try-out of a silver 3200GT yesterday... Not my colour choice; a little older than my target car, and a gap in the service history that I'd have used to negotiate with, if I'd been more serious. The sales guy sat next to me [so I was careful]. I've driven some interesting cars, and like to think I can 'feel' tyres on the road, but --in dry conditions and with no other vehicles to manage, I still lost the Maserati's tail --twice, with very little provocation: I think I was in third gear for one of them! I have to say that the car felt unresponsive at precisely the most worrying moment of those few seconds, and I wondered if we were going to spin no matter what I did. It seemed ages before I got the tail back and calmed things down, although as usual, time 'stood still' whilst I wondered about the guy's insurance and dodgy Italian airbags! The salesman's only comment was "these tyres are a bit expensive --we could have done with a bit of rain to stop us leaving too much rubber on the road"! I'm not sure why, but I came away with the impression that the car seemed to be 'sitting too high' somehow, although today was my first experience driving one. I guess more depends on how well a particular model has been looked-after than would be the case with ordinary mainstream There are some real horror stories about cambelt jobs costing the same as the car itself! English nostalgia has obviously taken you over --and why not, if it leads you to Aston Martin. Tell me what you think of the 80's AM Lagonda V8 [William Towns design] --obviously not as a daily-driver. Its invariably an interesting question to ask... Greetings, r. PS. my cashflow is all over the place [which hasn't really happened before, so I'm having to grow-up fast]. I'm hoping one can spread out both the cash and the work needed to achieve your quite phenomenal GP updates, taking one's time. I'll almost certainly start PM-ing you about this before too long. Do you fancy revealing the cost of your most expensive component? [ I may be wrong, but surely its likely to be the raw forged carbon case? Who knows: you might have an ultra-classy movement lined-up... or, God forbid, a gen one!]. Greetings --I do hope the screws turn-up soon. You're a patient guy, and don't deserve the frustration! r.
