Hey guys. My first review, so be gentle. Feel free to ask any questions though. First and foremost I would like to thanks Jeff (cougar1) for helping me with everything all the way from ordering the watch to when I actually received it. He holds a lot of information and knowledge which have been priceless in my scenario. So thanks very much Jeff, you're the man. Anyway here is the review: I ordered from Trusty Time the 16th of April. I received it one week and two days later since the day he sent it. The postal services in Sweden even delivered the watch to my door. When I opened the package and saw the watch, I was at first disappointed. It lacked that special "thing" from when you test the PO at the AD. It almost looked a little "bland" to be perfectly honest. After I took away the plastics that covered it, resized the bracelet and winded it a couple of times to see if the movement is okay, I put it on my wrist. It was very light. Disturbingly light. I've never had a Titanium watch/bracelet before, so the feeling was special. I only tested it with the blue rubber strap at the AD, so I wasn't sure how to react. Still knowing the properties of Ti compared to steel, I was not convinced. The watch felt cheap (weight-wise). Like those crap fake rolexes you buy for 30 dollars. I've been wearing the watch for more than a week now. And here comes the fun part; that kind of bad feeling I had with the watch has disappeared. I'm used to the Ti know, so steel feels too heavy. The best things with the watch are the following: The AR (immaculate!), the blue colour (which resembles the gen very much) and the lume. If I didn't know any better, these qualities really makes the watch look gen. The bezel is ceramic I believe. It really haves that special shine to it, makes the watch come so much more alive. It's still not any liquidmetal bezel, but the work is still really, really good. I've tested the watch for its accuracy, and it only lost 3 seconds the day I tested. So the Swiss movement masquerading as the inhouse Omega 8500 Co-axial movement, is really good. That is however my biggest issue with the watch (today). I love the fact that the factories really tried to create the new PO with open caseback (they look SO much better than the previous generation imho), but the giveaway of the watch really lies with the open caseback movement. It bothers me (even if the caseback it still absolutely amazing aesthetically). The pearl placement is also a little painful. I'm no watch expert or anything, but how hard can it be to cut a damn hole for the pearl more centre in the triangle...? I know it sounds as if I'm complaining a lot, but that's just my character (unfortunately). To be honest, I still love the watch. Besides those two issues, the craftmanship and hard work that has been put into the details is nothing less than amazing. The logos, markers etc are really good. It's the small details that gives an impression, and Andrew has really been successful with this. The blue pops out much more than the black imo. I've seen many people really staring at my watch. The colour really attracts a lot of attention. Typical Omega colour. I think I'll hold on to this until the ceramic SMPS come out in the future. Then I'll see what I shall do. But for now, even I can't stop staring at it... I'm not going to type much more, so I'll include some pics of the watch (I took them with my phone). Hope you found this review helpful. Btw, the pics don't do it justice. It's much more beautiful irl. P.S. I know the triangle doesn't look centred in the pictures, but it is in real life. It just looks that way. And the lume shot was hard to capture since the sun is out. But it'll give you a good idea. D.S.1 point

If you get the right one at the right brice it could be the best investment you ever made, Newman daytonas were not popular as far as i know when first released, bond subes were nothing special either, but look what they command now! Yes most of the time, but there have been some that have astounded with the quality like the first steelfishes, also on a value for money, what other "swiss" (if you are lucky) powered, stainless steel, saphhire crystaled watch can you buy on the high street for rep prices,$300-400, Not a lot! it is just the quality control that lets them down most of the time.1 point

Another update for you all, and some more eye candy, yes I said I wasn't going to complete the transplant fully until August, but I just couldn't help myself, and had to finish the job Fitted the gen dial to the Calibre 16.. Photo of one of the dial feet anchors.. Rep movement holder fitted, it was tight, but fitting over the crown and pushers side first made the job much easier. Just a note, the movement in this model is held down with three screws, and plates, the tiny plates have an angle on the end that goes into the groove on the inner case, you need to make sure this angled part is facing upwards, facing you with the watch dial facing down. If you fit these the wrong way round, the movement will move. See photo below of one of said clips.. Then it was time to fit the hands, and I thought I would tackle the hardest ones first, the sub-dial tiny hands.. Fitting of the sub-dial hands was tedious, but patience is paramount here, just take your time, use your loupe, and easy does it. Refitting the hour, minutes, and chronograph hands was easier, but at first I hadn't pushed the hour hand down enough, and when testing the hands to see if they rubbed, rub they did, so off they came, and refitted correctly, checking clearance this time round with my loupe. Then back into the case.. Admiring my work, I realise in my excitement, I forgot to use the blower, and then I spotted this next to the C of Carrera, ARRRRRRRGGGGG So, whipped the back off again, removed movement, then gave everything a good blow, and rodico treatment to make sure. Now, before fitting the hands earlier, I set to what I thought was midnight. How I came to this conclusion was with the crown in the right position, I turned anticlockwise until the day changed, then I turned clockwise so the date changed, then to double make sure, I then pulled the crown to the time set position, and continued to turn the crown clockwise until the day, and date changed. When they changed I assumed it was midnight. You know what they say about assumption, well, yes, it fcuked up lol, once I fit everything, and checking the day/date flip over, I got to midnight, and it didn't change. I continues to turn the crown, and the day, and date finally switched to the next day'date at 3AM DOH! I will correct this next time I remove the movement when I do the water resistance test. As of right now, everything is pretty much done, just need to trim the stem as its a few mm long, and also fit the gen bracelet resize, and enjoy my franken Carrera. If you have been following, and actually reading as well as enjoying the eye candy, then well done, congrats, and thanks for following my progress on this project. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask away! Cheers Micky1 point

If I was able to produce an original design that was both compelling & aesthetically superior to all others, I would certainly get to work toot sweet. In lieu of that, I have restored some gens along the way. There was a thread detailing the restoration of 1 of my DJs, but it apparently got lost during 1 of our system upgrades. However, I do have a few pics In general, just about anyone with the skills/tools to construct a franken, can restore a basic, genuine watch.1 point

The fact that I can afford a gen, or a couple of gens certainly doesn't mean that I can afford all gens. If I get the rep and it is great then I will probably stick with it, if I find it to be lacking I will take a harder look at a gen. I don't currently own any Gens of watches that have great reps, if I own a gen, it's because I love the watch and there is no good replica.1 point

I didn't know that we have a Freakin board of Censors here.....If you don't want your wives and kids to see half naked bodies, then don't open this site in front of them. Who says I can't post half naked bodies on my signature and Avatar.....I've been doin that since I followed freakin Corgi as a member. If you want to be "Holy Art Thou"....you're in the wrong site Bro.......jeez, your supporting the freaking communist economy, just do what Corgi did and sign off! I will if I don't like what I see.....and leave the other 90% do what they want. I thought we are all adults here??? If enough of you says for me to remove my [censored], then fine, I will, but this board will not see a dime from me anymore!!! Amen!!!1 point

I don't really care one way or the other, but the reality is we're participating in a forum that deals with the trafficking of counterfeit goods, and the hobby surrounding it. So, apparently there's no moral problem with that, but somehow avatars that don't cross the Admin's lines of decency are an issue? I get panermaniac's point about a child walking by (who doesn't understand the content of the forum), but if people are worried about adults seeing things, the last thing they should be worrying about is the content of an avatar. Quite frankly with all the posts I read each day, I haven't seen anything remotely distasteful enough to have made me even remember it, much less want to notify a mod. Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places.1 point

Wow that's some buying spree! Life is great here. Lots of winter but it's ending soon. I've been bit BAD by a Big Crown bug so I'm working on a build. I did Freddy's trick with the boot polish, then spritzed with matte spray to finish, Now I need to get it creamy lumed (hands too) and it'll be done. Big Daz will do the magic on this one I think.1 point
