Hi guys, as some may of already read in the link below, I received my Tag Heuer Carrera Chrono today from Trevor, and promised in that thread I would post some eye candy of the watch, and share with you my impressions of this timepiece.. For those who have yet to read it, here's the TD Review of my buying experience from Trevor. The watch came very well packaged, and 11 days from payment to wrist. http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/157299-first-purchase-from-trevor-and-delighted-with-my-watch/ Onto the watch. This is the Tag Heuer Carrera Chronograph Automatic rep with sec@9, and fully functional chronograph. It's the plain black dial model, with black bezel, stainless steel bracelet, and see-thru case back. I was already well informed on the flaws of this rep (thanks to the many of you who have shared their experiences with this model, and reviews of it), and I have to say, although knowing of them did not put me off my purchase at all, as I really loved the look of this rep. Kind of reminded me on an old Swatch I had many moons ago, but better Upon receiving the watch, it had all its protective covering on, the bracelet, dial, bezel, and back case all were protected. My first impressions of opening the package was wow, just wow, what a beautiful watch, it reaps of quality, weight solid feel, and certainly has prescence on the wrist. Talking of which, the bracelet needs a link removing as it wears a little loose for my liking, so if anyone would like to share on a good pin removal tool, that would be great. In case you are unaware of the flaws/tells of this model Tag, they are as follows.. 1. The letter G of the name TAG on the dial above the day/date window is missing it's pointy arrows that the gen has. 2. Blue screws in the movement are visible through the case back window. Gen are silver screws. 3. The rotor of the movement has the incorrect amount of bevels engraved, two or three less than gen. 4. The red paint used on the tips of the chronograph big hand, and the smaller hands of the 6&9 sub-dials are a darker red colour than gen, the gen is more of a bright blood red. Given the above flaws/tells, as said earlier, these alone did not put me off buying this rep, its stunning in the flesh, and my photos below simpley don't do it justice. The bracelet, and clasp are of great, solid quality, with a positive click fasten and unfasten of it's clasp. Good engravings. Anyway, I have a bad habit of rambling on, especially about something I have passion for, and that is watches. Ok ok, I hear ya! Onto the eye candy. I tried to capture this watch as well as I could for you all, sorry about the smudges etc, enjoy, and thanks for reading/looking.1 point

This thread is following the previous about the gen 5513 gilt dial meters first I got an idea... And this could be a new kind of package offer Concerning Sub models with short CGs : stubby or not stubby ? That is the question I think no so stubby, the case need just a serious reshaping. My opinion (my imagination ?) : probably there are 2 makers. The first cuts and sells generic cases with the CG side which is wider. The second maker buy a batch of these cases and has several templates/CNC programs to re-cut profilesand thickness depending models. Also engrave between lug holes, according what Rolex model he wants to replicate. The case of this watch sold by Josh has an excellent potential to work on. Thickness is correct and the rehaut wall accept gens or gen specs aftermarket plexis. Btw, a gen bezel assembly will suit with not to minor fittings. The dial is very sharp, lug holes are easy to re-drill at Rolex specs as they are centered perfectly Also gen casebacks screw on. Opposite : the rep caseback fits a gen case The rep case has been compared with the gen 5513 case I have restored, then I have reshaped to replicate the gen 5512/5513 design and suceeded to supress this visual effect of short CGs. These watch came with an oversized 7mm triplock which is not in brass wrapped with a stainless leaf. Fortunately it is solid strainless and machinable, so I have machined the crown to reduce the size to the correct 7mm twinlock. Then to get it more accurate I have removed the 3 points under the crown's logo and repolished. The tube was also redesigned to a twinlock tube by removing metal from the external o-ring area, then screwed more recessed into the case tube hole To resume the following was done on this watch : - Complete case body reshaping - Lug holes re-drilled - Tube and crown machined and converted in a 7mm twinlock - Dial and hand relumed - Yuki pearl - Clark T19 plexi Thats all, Now pics, the first test has been made with a Submariner 5512 The stock watch as it comes from the dealer : The finished watch, CGslook really better after reshaping, sorry for dust on the plexi Sorry for the finger prints... Look the detail of the crown, the 3 dots under the coronet were removed and the spot was repolished Imho, the effect is perfect, if you compare with the pics of the gen 5513, the CGs length look identical I can see myself in the caseback, lol The area between the CGs has been a little recessed, details of the reduced crown Dial, pearl and hands relumed What do you think ? not so bad after mods for a $ 158.00 vintage sub...1 point

Without naming a specific TD, since they are all like this. I wonder if it should be made more clear that the term 'Trusted Dealer' is somewhat a misnomer, maybe they should be reffered to as 'Dealers who are held to some form of account with regard to their actions when dealing with forum members'... or something with a little more ring to it. recently recieved QC pics that contained a mark on the bezel of an Omega Planet Ocean, I asked if this was a scratch or something that could just be removed and was greeted with a prompt reply to the effect that it was only surface dirt. Having been down this road before I made the simple request for a picture that illustrates the removal of the flaw (it really looked like a scratch). quite some time has now passed (longer than it took to get the first QC pics) with only a "I'll work on getting a new picture." I am fairly confident that the elapsed time has been used to procure a watch that does not contain the scratched bezel. The absence of any names or specifics means that this is simply meant to be a warning to first (or tenth) time customers. Maybe you don't just take their word for it when they assure you of something, ask for proof and it's okay to insist, they will eventually oblige in order to keep the customer happy. Remember, even if they aren't exactly trustworthy, they are held to a certain degree of account for their treatment of customers and a bad reputaion or removal from the TD list would be very bad for business.1 point

Trusted means that it is approved to sell in the forum and there is a feedback section which is the voice of the customers. You know what you will receive, not just a random website you found on google with AAA+ replicas. A dealer is a team. There is a lot of work with website developement, qc pictures, emailing, several type of shady payment handling receving money and paying factories, illegal pp accounts, third party credit card payments, watch orders, relationship with factories, package making, aftersales service etc etc The qc picture is mainly for the reason to make sure you receive the watch you really ordered, and not a different one. However if you see something unusual, like scratch on the dial or some kind of misalignement you can ask the dealer to take you some more pictures. This is the benefit of a forum, and a ¨trusted¨ dealer.1 point

As far as I know, no factory is building a 1:1 Bronzo. I wish they would.1 point

The construction and diameters of the casebacks are not always the same. This considers to the manufacturer. I had 3 DSSDs which where all different. The classic SD might be a good choice. If you do not want a real 1:1 rep you could try the DSSD v1. It's availible branded and sterile. I builded this one from the v1: Cheers Andi1 point
