  1. For the past six months I have been working on the Pam Guide. It was a dark, very tough, and long road. For those who are unaware of this project. It is, in short, a website hooked to a massive database which contains every rep Panerai. On the website you can filter down by attributes to find a Panerai to your liking. Click on a Panerai for its details. While doing this I neglected both my family and my job for this. But looking back it was worth it! I want to thank Ale from RWI for letting me use his Excel sheet. Without this I would not have been able to accomplish this. And of course you guys, for the kind words that kept me going. If you have any ideas or questions regarding the Pamguide, feel free to post them here. Feedback is appreciated. Also consider a donation to keep this bad boy alive. Even it's just a dollar or two. It's running on a very expensive dedicated server and it's hitting my wallet every month HARD... Ladies and gentlemen, I hereby present THE PAMGUIDE! Upcoming updates: - Strap makers section - Panerai Dictionary - Panerai classification - Panerai - A compare functionality Note: The Pamguide is gets updated when Ale's Excel sheet gets updated. So it is possible that the Pamguide does not contain yesterday's released PAMs.

  4. Only 3 possible things. 1. Bad/ dirty teeth on the chronograph second wheel 2. Bad / dirty teeth on the tilting pinion 3. Chronograph second wheel spring has too little upward tension. PS: very common problem and causes no harm what so ever. Just aesthetically not very appealing. It does not affect time keeping.

  6. If that wat you want to do then do it. I'm sure he will link all the problems he has had with u as a rebuttal. Now if he gets more than one negative feedback I'm sure he might have some troubles.

  7. I'd use whatever polish JKay was using on his watch when the insert fell out. That or superglue debonder available at most hardware stores. http://www.maplin.co.uk/debonder-46000

  9. I took on this task yesterday on my cartel 1655 case. It was a nightmare and I just barely survived with the case intact! I broke 2 drill bits. Get the best possible HSS drill bits and as said above go slowly and use a little lube. To make sure I was lined up with the existing hole I put a drill bit in that was the same size as the hole I was drilling, I ran it through the lug hole and tightened up the vice while the dril was in the lug hole (if you understand what I mean?) I then swapped out the drill for the larger size. Not a job for the faint hearted!

  12. i think Ubi is right. The "S" in Submariner is the giveaway (besides the non-maxi markers) They just don't make those flat "S" anymore.

  16. This thread has lots of conjecture, unproven accusations, potentially misleading information and noise, it's going to be useless as feedback. What's wrong with just leaving a purely factual, unbiased, date ordered list of what happened? If its just the facts, ALL the facts (otherwise its misleading by leaving out what may be crucial info to some), and no personal opinion no one can say anything and its helpful. Of course doing that would mean including things like the phone call, what was said in it, also your request for the return of the watches and the fact you initially didn't want the $350 back, and then wanted some of it back, and then wanted all of it back (for reasons you obviously felt warranted that - I'm not taking sides or commenting on that at all IYSWIM) Just think what would be the most useful to someone else.

  17. "...it's a very difficult task to carry out in order to drill exactly to mate with the already drilled internal lug holes." From my experience it is next to impossible. If you get four holes drilled exactly where you want them...it was an accident. The drill bit will walk on the uneven lug and ruin the lug. The bit will break off in the lug. The bit will start correctly then follow the inside hole when it hits it and break if the hole is not exactly parallel and the same size. Many inside drilled holes are drilled at an angle and the bit will break when they hit the angle from the outside. etc, etc. Tips... Have the least amount of drill bit exposed as possible even if it means stopping a few times to extend it as the hole deepens. On no hole (aka 'blind') lugs use a center punch etc to make a dimple where you want to start the holes to keep the bit from walking. Stainless steel will work harden if the bit stops cutting and heats the lug so keep the bit cool and lubricated. Drill the holes in two or three steps, do not try to drill the holes in one run. The case has to be held very securely while drilling...brass jaw vise bolted to the drill press table etc.

  19. No offense but I don't think the mods are going to shut down a thread because it annoys you. This is of interest not only to the people directly involved but also to the many members that were, or are, thinking about using his services in the future.
