  2. Helllllllo all, sorry that I haven't been as active lately, work was getting crazy and then I took a short vacation. I just got back though to a parcel waiting for me, and I could not be happier. As some of you know I have been obsessed with big crowns for a long time and one of the models that I'm most obsessed with is the 6200. There's something about the 3-6-9 dials and A series movements thats very appealing, but they all had those super long hour hands that I was never able to find.... until now!! Phong has stainless ones that I will have to have gold plated to mimic gilt and relumed (Gen gilt hands were actually gold leafed not plated but that's the best I can do!) This is just the start, I also have the Gen dial plate sourced and am presently waiting for it to be redone, I guess the only thing I'm missing now is the a296 movement and a stem that fits an a296 and 8mm crown with a 1.1 mm thread...

  3. Dropped by my watchsmith's shop today. He had a spare vintage case opener set that was gathering dust. It has found a new home in my basement. While the Bergeon No.5 openers are acceptable, nothing fits a genuine Rolex caseback like a genuine opener. The teeth just grab better.; Not to mention the fact that these look so much cooler.

  4. The Big Pilot Ceramic arrived today and is a real beauty of a watch. The usual PR hand issue doesn't bother me and I might move it, I might not! Finish of the case is really clean/good as is the dial, the hands and the crystal. The strap is a tad stiff, however I expect to swap this out for an OEM I have coming. The crown has 3-4 full revolutions to screw down and as we know is a weak point on these BP's (gen as well as Reps) it feels secure and tight, I always counterwind to 'feel' the thread before tightening down. She has kept time perfectly for the last 6 hours and although large at 48mm, feels no different to my usual 47 PAMs. For the smaller wrist guys you might find this a little uncomfortable (mine are 8 1/4) All in all a really great watch that is very different to any other Big Pilot that is very good value for money. 6. But I would like to say that you are not on the right place. This is a nice forum for friendly people who appreciate each other and respect each other, no matter what kind of watch you wear, how many cars you own or how much money you make. So if you would be so kindly, get your ass out of here.

  12. It's 10 below zero, there's a fire in the woodstove, the northern lights are out and the Laphroaig is telling tales of smoke and hearths.

  14. This has been done many times before (a quick search will produce many threads detailing previous construction projects), but you are certainly welcome to share yours. I know I often learn something from each new build.
