These are great points; well said, gents. I'm all in favor of helping noobs not get ripped off but lately I sense more and more threads that devolve into pissing contests that impugn the integrity of the seller. That's not how we operate here. In this place we share watch information and we try to raise the quality of the many discussions. We're better than ugly pissing matches. If I see something that's horrendously overpriced and there's someone trying to buy it who obviously has no clue what he's doing, I'll send a quick PM pointing him to a similar sale at a much fairer price, and suggest he exercise a little restraint. Nobody ever died because they missed out on a watch purchase. Let's watch each other's backs, and let's do it as gentlemen would.

If you think about it, all that bezel does is offer a simple ability to track units of time. If you have a meeting in 20 minutes, you rotate the bezel accordingly so that the arrow points to your future minute when the meeting begins. Have a steak on the grill and you need to flip it in 5 minutes? Rotate the bezel. The Turnograph predated the submariner by many years and offered that feature. Then the sub took it and made it useful for diving by having a thicker and more robust, water resistant case, but the basic feature is the same. The Thunderbird offered that feature on a sleek, dress watch without having to wear a clunky dive watch to get it.

Well, I've decided to keep my sub and pick this one up as well. It's vintage alright, original everything, white gold bezel, original bracelet and powered by a diehard cal. 1570. Not many seen in the wild either. Not sure I want to do anything to it as I like the look just how it is. Thought I'd share it with you, a full photo shoot and review once it arrives. Too a large degree , fashion has fanned Panerai's growth and increased awareness and subsequent demand. But fashions change and brands can soon turn from leaders to followers with that fickle set. Times are also changing with less young consumers even bothering to wear a watch for many years now - Ok not exactly Panerai consumers, but they grow up. Panerai should survive and prosper , provided they can bend quickly enough if the market "wind" bears down on them. Personally , I am not a fan of many of the modern pieces , despite innovation and in house movements they lack the simplicity and charm that is Panerai's DNA.
