  2. Here's some quick snaps. Just put it on a 93150 rep bracelet for now. And installed a SK T125 which I think looks "normal" now...

  3. There's a problem with Yuki 7206 bands that drives me nuts. The way the end links are made, you can't get the last link to extend from the endlink and lay nice and flat. Here's a picture showing what I mean. See how the indicated piece protrudes so far, making a lumpy connection from the band to the endlink? I was messing with the band just now and tried something. Flip it over and see the indicated tab? It's in the way preventing you from altering that last-link angle, as delivered. So use a flat screwdriver and push that tab over a smidge so it's more perpendicular to the underside of the band. As shown here: Now you have room to work, and you can twist and push that piece down flatter so the last-link connection looks much more like the genuine band. Et voila' ... smooth non-lumpy flow from endlink to last link to the band.

  5. This is a very hard time, but I'm so glad you're there with her. It would be 1000 times worse if you were trying to get on a plane. Hold her hand and talk to her. She hears you. Treasure this day.

  6. The way he installs the insert in this tutorial has always worked for me. Well, 3 times anyway. Might be worth a look. It's all in how you roll that last corner in. http://www.vikbobil.se/bezel.html

  11. Great quote 'Nook. I once heard Maya Angelou talking and she said when times get tough she remembers that her mum told her "It takes pressure to make diamonds". @ ssteel, glad you made it in time. I feel there is another diamond in the making.

  13. You would be surprised, I've had gens for 15 years now. I can't speak for others but I like both. Actually when I say both I really mean franken's and gens, I don't like reps that have no gen parts, unless it's a very well done vintage Rollie that speaks to me. I like those for my vacations. I was so excited when I happened onto this forum a few years ago, the idea that I could build a watch that was unattainable in its gen form was a mind blowing experience. I've always had gens and I always will but I will also always be interested in this hobby. I've learned more in the past 3 years then I ever did in 12 years without this forum. Imagine how much more a car restorer (weather he uses some aftermarker parts or not) knows about a given car that he worked on compared to the guy who bought it from him.. That fuchsia insert came with the kit, I prefer all black but I really like this one too.

  14. Amazing CC. Can't wait to see it all together. I see more and more gens posted on this site everyday. I think it only goes to show the natural progression of people's collections. Most fiddle around with cheap reps at first... then graduate to Frankens.. then graduate to Gens.

  15. I will let the pictures do the talking. I am not too good with details like font size or font shape. I will only cover areas that I think can be detected easily (if you hold the watch side by side). On the wrist, I think the reps nowadays are too good to be seen as rep easily. Gen is on black gator strap. Rep is on Gunny Calf Strap LUME COLOR Lume is darker on the rep. I was worried that the lume on the hand won't match the lume on the dial on the rep. But mine has a uniform lume color.. CASE SIZE & SHAPE The rep case is thicker compared to gen. It is quite a lot. I would say 2mm difference in thickness. The overall is case is also looks bigger on the rep. I don;t have a clipper with me but it does look that way. (as can be seen in the pic) The lug shape is also different. The gen has slimmer and longer look compared to rep. CASEBACK Movement is upside down. CROWN GUARD SHAPE GEN: REP: Not really significant difference that I can report. That's all folks. Overall, it is a nice rep. I am used to 44mm pam so this one somehow feels small. But if I compare it to a Rolex watch, it actually almost the same size as a Rolex Submariner (the pam is slightly larger). Hopefully it helps.
