  1. We understand, Micky. Take your time to process what's happened. It's been a lot. Start a journal if you haven't already, and write down exactly how you feel and what you're thinking right now. Be as honest as you can; you're writing a letter to yourself in the future. Write the events that led up to your journey, all the good and the bad. Take the time to expose your soul on that paper, because you'll need to read it again some day. Be as honest as you can, leaving nothing out. Capture the essence of each day with the high and low points. Then at the end write down three things you're grateful for. Tomorrow pick it up and do it again. And again the day after. Form the habit, and then keep writing in it until you've said everything there is to say. At some point many months from now you won't need to write in it anymore, you'll know when that time comes. Then you can put it away in a safe place. Some day you'll find that journal will be one of your most prized possessions. So start it tonight or tomorrow. Cheers Micky, welcome home.

  2. You did it. You saw her. And I bet your bottom dollar she was hanging on for that. You did not let her down. I'm sure she would be proud to have had a son like you. My condolences are with you.

  5. Hi, I came across an ETA 2873 for cheap and was trying to decide what to build with it. I'm most interested in another vintage Explorer but had some concerns that this movement would fit. I stripped off all of the date change stuff and dial spacer and I think it will work but I wanted a second opinion about the height of the stem in the crown tube. The picture below is the 2873 in a JMB case. It's a tad off center but I think it would work OK. Agree? Or, is it too off center. Thanks, Andy

  7. ^^^OMG I can't believe I didn't think to write that one, it's my all time favorite. I thought it was said by Dean Martin: "I spent 80% of my money on booze, hookers and dope, the other 20% I wasted"

  11. I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed. Michael Jordan

  13. Twist the crown slowly as you are inserting the stem. This seems to help for a smooth insertion in my experiences with eta movements. You will feel everything catch, and it will slip right in if done correct. There's something dirty about those instructions.

  15. So I did a bit of aging to my insert on the 5513. I used a dremel tool "fine-detail abrasive brush" then polished it a bit. These are ultra high res pics taken with a Canon DSLR so it really shows everything. I took an iphone shot as well. Less harsh looking in person, and I'm happy with it, the black gloss of the insert is gone, it's a little barked up - and now looks the business of a 50+ year old watch. Tell me what you think please!
