  3. I mentioned once in another thread that installing 8mm tubes can sometimes be a pain. This is especially the case since most are tapping case with the wrong tap. But assuming you have the right M3.9/4.1x0.30mm tap, getting the tube to seat properly can still be challenging. Typically a triangular, square or pentagonal tapered file is used by watchsmiths. For a couple of years, I searched for the right 8mm tube wrench to no avail. But last month I stumbled across a set of installation bits for torquing the tube into place as well as the "reemer" to cut away the inside teeth of the tube. Not easy to find! Normally the bits would fit into specific Rolex tool handles that look like this: As you can imagine, they are not cheap. So here are the results of my homemade handles, which I think will do the same job. Made from left over scraps: Perfect fit. It will be a relief not having to use ghetto files. The innards are scraped away with the broaching bit which is just the right diameter to provide clearance for the crown stalk.:

  4. I haven't had much time recently to work on my builds, I keep buying parts though Evidently I had a free day and Managed to get round to shaping a few cases i laser welded in previous months. All three cases are different makers and all had a substantial amount of material welded on to create each specific reference as accurate as I could. I had added another smaller amount to my pcg case to try and create the correct look (thanks for the heads up dbane) it's not perfect but I'm happy with it now. The 'eagle beak' is a cartel 'stailess steel' case, I had to add what it felt like an entire wheel of stainless wire ....dam these cases are so stubby! But it turned out nice. The other mystery case has nice sloping lugs compared to the cartel fat cases more appropriate for a pcg, but too late now, case was also welded and shaped. All cases drilled to 1.3mm holes for fatty sprinbars a was thinking to reshamfer the cases but was going for a worn look on the pcg and EB so maybe a box of nails and weak polish instead. All crowns are Athayas no retapping needed which is great, plus they are unbeatable for the money. I have a few dials in mind for the EB case but nobody makes a MK1 dial like this So I will have a friend design one , and get it made. Reference images of eagle beak Also now Yuki makes the slightly fat font insert with a red triangle which is what I will use for the EB bezel insert. Here are some crap pics of cases

  5. Finally got the courage up to dremel the DW bezel just enough to fit a gen service 25-19 crystal. Love the results. Gen crystals just bring the watches to life! .

  7. It is, in fact, a DW 6263, albino dial, running an Asian 7750. For several months, I had one that belonged to alligoat--in a futile attempt to get the movement serviced cheaply. It's a real beauty, so congratulations! And big thumbs up to your anonymous benefactor.
