SOSF today Sent with my wooden drums via Tupperware

It's a long way I've gone so far and from time to time I feel the urge to tell my fellow WIS brothers about it. Since there are constantly newbs around I always start from the scratch It all started back in 1993 with my first "real" watch... I still have that watch since it was my first one. I had many other watches before but these were all swatches and I won't call them "real watches". But still...these swatches turned me into a "watch guy" Well...shortly after that Citizen I bought a Sinn 144 ST SA. Was pretty obvious for me to buy a Sinn since I raised and lived in Frankfurt am Main. Old Helmut sold me this nice watch and I still love its look. Back in these days I had my first contact with reps. It was pretty hard to get some but sometimes the showed up under the table of flea market sellers. So I had a 16610 (Automatic!) and an Omega Speedmaster (Quarz) in my collection, together with the Citizen, a Sinn, a Seiko 5, a Baume&Mercier Hampton Automatic, a Glashütte Diver and two Russian watches from which I forgot the name. Unfortunately my wife cheated on me and due to the high costs of the divorce I had to sell most of my watches. I kept the Citizen and the 16610 rep but was a bit distracted from watches for a view years then... 2007 I was back in the watch game, started with two unbranded reps (Seamaster and Yachtmaster) and went "back to the roots" and bought some (lower 3 digit range ) Seikos over two years or so. Unfortunately I turned into a maniac serial flipper and so sometimes I sold watches that weren't with me only because I found another I'd like to have instead. I guess the number of watches that went through my hands from 2007 till now is in the higher 3 digit range...800 or more...way too much!! Just a view pics for reference (all gen) And lots and lots more... Beginning of 2013 I found out that there is more about the rep community than only some cheap assembled fakes for 100€. The arrogant and ignorant behaviour of some of the "gen guys" started bothering me and since I'm a very curious guy I searched and found rwg.cc. End of 2013 beginning of 2014 I shortly went back to the gen community. It always bothered me when an issue showed up on one of my reps. That was the reason why I sold all reps in 2014 and bought Seikos. The Seikos were and are great watches, very reliable, solid, nice to wear...they just didn't do it for me. Man...it's never a good idea to check pictures of your old watches...those Seikos are really tempting...if I only had more money I always lusted after Rolex, Breitlings, IWCs, Omegas but my wallet isn't big enough to buy them all as gens and I definitely cannot live with only one or two watches. I started buying reps again and guess I found my way now. First I tried if I'm still a "Rolex guy" and found out that they are a tad bit to small for me (even the 6 digit sporties). Hurts a bit since I adore the vintage sporties!! My focus now is (and this is something I learned from end of 2013 to the beginning of 2015) reliability! So I tried to find the most reliable reps ooo. I bought what I thought I wanted to have and sold everything that never found its way to my wrist. Left over now are four Breitling (Seawolf, Abyss Chrono, Avenger Code yellow, SOSF), two IWC (3777 and 3777 Petite Prince), an Omega PO Pumpkin 45.5 and a BK DSSD 2014. Took them to Domi and let him do his magic (new gaskets, clean everything, waterproof, andwhateverneedstobedone) plus they all are powered by swiss eta now (yepp...the chronos too). Only the BK DSSD is still like it was before...I mean...hey...it's a BK...nothing more to say ;). Fixed. Replacing the driving wheel was the right assumption. Thanks everyone for the support Just read your post mate, thank you and apologies for not even replying to you.

The problem with using private couriers like DHL, FedEx or UPS, they all have their own in house customs clearing. More than likely this is designed to expedite packages, as they all have a pretty tightly controlled delivery policy, overnight really means overnight to FedEx, unless Mother Nature or events beyond their control get in the way. They can't afford to have an overnight package sitting in U.S. Customs for three days. The way to solve that is their own in house customs. I believe that when they pull a package like a watch, they are more concerned with valuation rather than whether or not it's a gen or rep. More likely to get a customs bill, or a letter that your valuation is too low, and you need to give it a realistic valuation. Then again, it very well might go right on through without further delays. AFA Chicago, I believe thus was temporary, and they have moved on to other things.
