  2. Simple mod for my cartel 5512 yesterday. It's not perfect but I'm happy for my first try. Dial in oven for 30 minutes, vintage horoloex lume, then strong coffee dried under a lamp. Strong coffee only for the hands. Case shaked in a box with coins. Forgot the insert in bleach because of a phone call. So it's more fade than I want and I think to buy an other insert for retry. Any advise where to buy one ? And I had a dislodged Keyless work when I remove the stem. Fortunately fixed this morning with this video guide : Before : After : Not bad for a first try ? 4. Got this new PAM441 with the ceramic case a few days ago and i wanted to share it with you ! I can say that this is one of the first rep i have with such a gen feeling... The ceramic case is PERFECT everywhere, very well made and very " sharp ". The gen ceramic may be a little more "black", whereas this V6 f seems dark grey, but it's not easy to see the difference. I just bought today this OEM Panerai cashmere gold strap to my local AD; i think it's the perfect combo with the black case . I choose the seagull st 2555 insted of the A7750... I have heard that the seagull is a good movement, we will see Conclusion: The + - A great case with a perfect shape; it's so easy to open the screw in bezel with a sticky ball to remove some dust on the dial for example. - The ceramic CG is... I have no word, more than perfect, the engraving, the lever, very near from a gen i guess. -The glass is very clear. -The stock asso strap is great, no need to change it...except for an OEM strap -Dial, hands, date, all is perfect also; i like very much the color of the vintage lume. -Lume is excellent for a "vintage"one, the green is beautiful in the darkness. -ETC... The - -I have a doubt about the AR on the glass; shooting this watch is a real nightmare, i guess the AR on the gen is really better. -You can see on the case some small changes of tint of the ceramic, but it is only noticiable under a certain light exposition... fortunately, very hard to see. -That's all ! Let's have a look a the pictures, i am sorry for the poor quality as i am not a good photographer

  5. To remove the retaining ring you need to insert a thin blade between the case and where you have marked "option 1". Slowly work the blade around the ring and case applying pressure and leveraging upwards. Once the gap is large enough, you can use the case back opener (or penknife blade) to lever the retaining off.

  6. Case knife opener is too thick. Use a razor blade like this: Wedge it in from one side and slowly work your way around. Just don't cut yourself. It's the easiest and cheapest way. I've installed and replaced retaining rings in a hotel room with no press at all using the edge of a wooden table. Anyhow. Good luck.

  9. "And if that is true, why is no one else tooling up some nice gen. spec cases and selling them for 200 or 250?" I have been asking that question for many years. It would cost very little more to make an 'in spec' vintage type case than an 'out of spec' case. "If I didn't mention it, yes, I'll drill the lugs to 2mm." Make that 1.3mm. I have seen a few with 2mm whoppers and they looked like a toad frog with little bitty eyes.

  12. I doubt anyone could say it better. There are many among us that are generous, but AJ takes it to an art form. He gives of himself sacrificially and is the better man for having done so. Such giving is rarely acknowledged, and almost never returned. That's not why it is done. Irregardless how this plays out, he will continue his generosity and continue setting an example for us to follow. In the end, this is just money. Money is not "who" we are, it's "what" we have in our pocket. It shouldn't define us, and it's not a measuring stick. When we understand that, it puts life in perspective and the things that truly matter become obvious. It frees us to be better people. So, AJ ... I'm sorry that this happened. Next time you're in Alaska the dinner and drinks are on me. Thank you for being the fine example that you are.
