  1. People that have three or four hundred dollars a month to throw at watches are in a bracket that they can also afford to buy a decent watch. I see a number of exotic car experiences in my area that seem to be doing well, however watches are a little different story. The whole replica game gives those that are interested in high end watches but too poor to afford one, a viable option. That said, I think the business model could work if you concentrated on daily rentals instead of long term leases. Hook up with wedding planner and run the business similar to a tuxedo rental business. There are enough high end weddings out there to make it work. Think about an average of 5 watch rentals per wedding (groom, best man & ushers) at say $100 per watch per day. Maybe you have three or four weddings a weekend, that could work out to about $5 or $6K per weekend assuming 2 day rentals.

  8. A little update... So what's left to do... 1) Drill lugholes 2) Drill & tap for Athaya crown 3) Change to new 300/1000-dial when it arrives 4) Change hands to "big Mercedes"-hands in gold 5) Domed sapphire (Btw... making the red triangle become "3D" was a p-i-t-a)

  10. On punctuation An English professor wrote on the board: A woman without her man is nothing. The class was then asked to punctuate the sentence. The men wrote: "A woman, without her man, is nothing." The women wrote: "A woman: without her, man is nothing."

  11. Whenever I see a watch like that Christopher Walken's "This was up my ass" speech comes into mind from Pulp Fiction haha - Wear it in good health, be a steward for it for future generations.

  13. @ Rollo Ron. Mike on a bike is trying to save you hassle. If you look at people like Mike and Legend you'll see experienced members who talk sense and are willing to help you. Basically Mike was saying that you'll have twice the risk of sending to China with customs. Everyone here who gave advice did so with the best of intent. Personally I'd send to SSteel or another watchsmith, after all if you can post to China then you can post to the EU or USA for sure. You'd get a faster and possibly better service that way and your watch should run fine for a long time. But hey ho, it's your decision.

  15. For what it's worth - when I was getting married I looked into renting a gen. It was about $250 and instead I spent nearly twice that on a different watch, joined a rep forum, and dropped $700 in the first month. So for me the money wasn't the problem as much as it was the not owning.

  16. Already shaping up nicely. Nos build for the time being. Just took it apart. The bezel uses a retainer ring and tension washer. Thanks, dlf. Looks like I got drsd engravings... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  17. Here's my gilt 5513 - remember if it's gilt, it's likely a PCG, right? I have gen steel hands on mine as I age the gold ones. They were waaaaaaaaaaay too bright.
