  1. (Phase II in center, Phase I on right - both fitted with JoeyB inserts) Ditto JoeyB's plastic inserts. There are none (other than a gen) better, but they are designed to fit a gen or gen-dimensioned bezel, so, unless it is made to gen spec, you would need to measure your rep/aftermarket bezel to be sure the insert fits. As others have said, '42 builds are complicated & expensive. The options really come down to spending thousands on a mixture of gen & gen-spec aftermarket parts, or heavily modifying a rep Sub or GMT case (these are generally made to fit ETA or ETA-clone movements, instead of gen Rolex movements) to mimic the '42. Several years ago, for my Phase 1 '42, I used a cheap Silix Sub as the basis for the build (I do not recall the exact rep model, but I believe it has been unavailable for several years - if you can locate the model in 1 of my Phase I construction threads, Silix may be able to locate a similar rep for you). It was selected because the basic case was close to the '42 in size/dimension, but the crystal & bezel mounting were different, which required a great deal of modification & input from other advanced members (you can search out the several threads on the subject for details). Whichever way you decide to go, be prepared for alot of headaches & budget excesses.

  3. Lol I'm impressed with your honesty. But I would be happy if the watch was shown by a friend and turned with it being a "trying it on" shot. Why? I want my friend to have better taste in watches that's all lol. Message crafted while riding a leathery juvenile T-Rex and charging toward the horizon.

  5. 1675 had a pretty good scratch on the plexi that I couldn't get out by hand so took the bezel assembly off and worked the plexi with a dremel. Also needed to work on the old folded Jubilee I recently acquired. So cleaned up the bracelet, little brush and light polish to areas and worked the 55 end links. Took several attempts to get it right but now the fit is good. Forgot to shoot pics while she was apart. I love this old Swiss Jubilee. Super thin and light. Wears great and is super comfortable. Please note...no polishing of the case[emoji1303] Now that the 1675 is done. Time to work on the 5513. This is my birth year "Grail" piece. I am not a watch smith so it takes a little ahhhhh....[emoji51] courage to work on this. I have not taken her apart since acquired. Bezel was hard to rotate and also needed a good buff of the plexi. Thank the watch Gods, bezel came off easy. Before: you can see she is pretty dirty under the bezel. After some clean up. Once again no polishing of the case. All back together: My two favorite references together: Fun day with the hobby [emoji1303]

  6. This is a gen for sure. Congrats to your friend. Very true and +1. The number one deciding factor of whether a watch is gen/fake for me is the person wearing it, and the way he carries himself. Details are easy to spot in pictures posted on the forum, but in real life, it is harder to do so unless you already know what to look for, and are specifically looking out for it.

  7. Dealing with Kent was great. He answered all of my initial emails leading up to sending him the watch. He told me turn around time would be 4 to 5 weeks. I didn't bother him during that time. He did the job in 4 weeks. When he was done he sent an email with photos of the finished work. He does not mind working on reps. I was up front about that. He said the 1016 Explorer is one of his favorites. It turned out better than expected. Looks good in daylight and lume is very good as well. I recommend him highly. http://www.everestwatchworks.com
