  2. @irate03 I think the penny has just dropped. You used to post a lot on HF and did some rather tasty Pam dials at one time. I well remember following that Tudor build. I would love to see you posting more here mate.

  3. After months of working on it (but mostly just being busy or lazy or both), I think I'm finally done with my first build. I wanted to share pics because I haven't seen this crystal used yet - from what I can tell, it's GS's version of the Tropic 19 "super dome." And it was $10.60. I compare it to the $96 CWP crystal in another thread that I can't be bothered to find now. I'd love to know what I'm missing, if anything, but they look practically identical to me. But I'm new at this - if you can spot otherwise, please chime in. Anyway: Cartel 5513 case: lowered lug height, adjusted CG's, added slight chamfering based on gen images, drilled lugs to fit OE bars, refinished. GS PA-462 19M crystal Athaya 703 crown and tube Athaya pearl, aged lume Clark bezel assembly, aged insert (it's ever so slightly blued, hard to get from the pics) ETA 2846 serviced by misiekped keeping excellent time Deleted date position in keyless HR custom aged dial (he says he matched his gen) HR 2.0mm spring bars, polished ends JK hands (aged lume) So, the tried and true, for the most part. With giant thanks to jackflash and automatico for dealing with my nonstop questions. I have WSO endlinks for the cartel bracelet, but the famous line in the mid-link pisses me off too much to install it.

  4. I forced a TD to get me one, no idea of the maker, it could actually be BP, unfortunately the old TWs are out of stock and if you see one snap it up before i do. It is not the best made watch in the world but has a nice little A2836 inside, everything works except the crown is not winding like it should but once on the wrist it goes like a rocket and holds PR. The band is WSO 14k overlay 10k filled with a Rep clasp.

  5. That crystal is gorgeous!! Its profile looks just like the tropic 39 that I cut down for my Frosty Flake build. Very nice and 1/30th the price. Here's the CWP for comparison, at 10x the price.

  11. The problem with the JK factory is that the pushers are NOT asymmetric- this is the key to a correct 6263 or any watch in that series which originally used a V72 movement. This would include the 6234, 6238, 6239, 6240, 6241, 6262, 6263, and 6265. DW cases had the correct asymmetric pushers and could use the 7750 movement, but DW is gone and no one has come out with the correct case for a 7750 since then. And finding a DW 7750 case is tougher than finding hen's teeth. The only cheap option is the cartel with the Venus 75 movement these days. Look at the 6238 on top in this picture- see how the top pusher lines up with the two o'clock marker and the 4 o'clock pusher is slightly below the 4 o'clock hour marker- this is what we call the asymmetric pushers- key to any good vintage Daytona build. BTW, top is a gen 6238 and bottom is a Phong 6238 with V72 movement and Phong dial.

  15. Right, sorry for the delay there. Misiekped had to uh... Fix a movement problem that may or may not have been created by me. Also I'm aware of the scratches on the crown side from hasty sanding - just been too lazy to take it back down and address.
