  1. 'Gubelin' Bought this Baylor watch in November 1990 with a faded dial. Had the dial refinished in Nov '92 and it came back as a Gubelin so I left it that way. The trademark on the dial is similar to Gubelin and the dial company made a mistake. Steel case, gold bezel (?), acrylic crystal, 20mm crocodile strap...the pusher at 8 sets the day of the week. I've had a lot of dials refinished and there have been a few mistakes made by the dial companies. One dial company refinished a ten diamond rolex dial and sent it back without the diamonds, just ten holes in the dial but they found them and made it right. I've also had vintage 'snap back' Bulova, Elgin, Hamilton etc. dials sent back with the wrong brand names. Baylor is a 'House Brand' of Zayle's Jewelers and there were some very good watches made with the Baylor name on the dial. I bought one of these in Sept '92 for $140 and traded it away of course; Baylor 4213 GMT Chronograph stainless steel VX 724 dates 1970's (fabsuisse.com) Baylor info: Baylor | OnTheDash Baylor Watch Company is from Texas (chronocentric.com)

  2. Well , thanks! Much appreciated! Question that worries me is; will I still run in 20 years without an issue! Even the performance has always been great for a 2836-2 with incabloc shock spring. Believe it or not , it gained between 5- 8 seconds per day! I gave it a backyard service giving the disassembled parts just a wash with a small Remington shaver brush in a mix of cloudy ammonia, distilled water and kitchen detergent followed by another wash in distilled H2O with a finals lighter fluid rinse! I used just basic watch oils and it now runs close to original timing approximately 7-10 seconds per day when timing against a kitchen quartz clock! I don’t have a timing machine after it bit the dust nor a basic Elma cleaning machine! Therefore, I don’t expect better! Bush mechanic = me the bush watch service!

  3. I didn’t see any fakes! Which fakes are you talking about? Does it tell the time? Is it made from the same material? Can anyone make another convincing copy it in their back shed? Does it show any giveaway sign/s to any mainstream observer? I am confused! Fakes really? Pink elephants may be fake! But these are great timepieces! Well priced too! Enjoy to good health!

  7. I have always loved the rose Tudor Subs (I think they are more attractive than Rolex's own Subs), but the shield dials always look like homage watches for some reason.

  8. You know you are tainted when you have so many nice timepieces that something like this 6536/1 (which was 1 of Nanuq's favs) gets lost in the crowd. Well, it found its way onto my wrist for the 1st time in ages today, so I thought I would shoot a quick pic --
