Yeah, we'd be quick to call it poor QC if it were a rep.
-
Even the closed-factory SMPs didn't have perfect crown guards. AFAIK, only the "budget" bonds have those nice crown guards.
-
Look at the crown guards on this thing! It's hard to tell what it'd look like with the crown screwed in, but at least they come far out and we could shave em down if necessary! Worlds better than the current ETA Bond SMP.
-
Don't forget about the promised land! Only if they can fix the crown guards. That's the only thing that's stopping me from getting the old one.

Well, first I google "watch repair" and "[my city]" then I filter out all the crappy quartz battery repair places. Then I check out a few of them. The best is a small shop (NOT in a mall, Malls are horrible, only good for straps/batteries). The small shop should only have a few people, and preferably not deal with expensive swiss watches. The place I found, I went in, described a problem with the watch, then I said, "I know it's a fake, but it's one of my favorites." The guy said no problem and fixed it as if it were a gen (it was a rep moon watch, and the minutes hand fell off the pinion and slid around). You have to tell them from the beginning, dont want them to open it up and find out.

In addition to all the horrible inaccuracies, WHY CAN'T THE REP MANUFACTURERS GET THE DAMN LOGO AND OMEGA WRITING DOWN?! FLAT FEET, BAR THROUGH THE MIDDLE, NOT THE BOTTOM!!!!! If this is the new "Bond seamaster" style they said was coming soon, I am going to be sick. Then order Silix's 2531 bond smp... just a crownguard problem.

I got my 3570 (solid back) for $1525 off ebay from a reputable japanese seller. the 3573 and 3572's go for a couple hundred more.

unconventional to say the least.

#3 is available at cqout, it's a bargain bond. you can tell by the extra large "300m/1000ft" text.

Today I saw a Bond SMP on a wrist, at about 5 feet away. It's damn hard to catch the He valve alignment or the crownguards at that distance, so don't know if it was gen or rep. It's a beautiful, eye catching watch, though.

I bought a gen speedy last year after selling off my reps to fund it. Now i'm back in the rep game with a 3717, but I still have the speedy, which is almost perfect to me. I love the hesalite, the handwinding, its accuracy (it's not COSC certified but it keeps time to -2/day). It is a classic, and no rep will ever match the tight subdial spacing, which I love. It is a the perfect tool watch, and the polished curvy lugs and incredibly nice bracelet make it gorgeous as well as functional. I can't recommend the speedy pro highly enough. It's a classic. I am not as into cameras as I am into watches, so no pics. I hope you get yours and wear it well!

Damn, wish there were good not-phong-super-expensive reps of tudors... the perfect sub that will never get called out! this is so beautiful, but i'd want a date in it!

Word on the street (forums) is that a new coax bond rep will be out soon. Hopefully they'll fix the damn crown guards, but i'll get it just for the nicer PO-style caseback.

The pearl looks crooked, too!

That's perfect! Except I'd like it to tell the correct time more than twice a day

I have discovered that I prefer slim watches. Comparing my new 3717 to my gen Speedy Pro, the 3717 rides up much higher and I notice it on my wrist, compared to the Speedy, which sort of sinks in a bit to my wrist. Off the wrist, they are not noticeably different in thickness, but the case back shape definitely affects it. As I know now to strongly consider thickness in watches (I believe the 3717 is ~15mm), what good reps are there that are fairly thin? I love the SMP chrono but at 17-18mm it's far too thick. Of course, you can't compare chrono thicknesses to non-chronos, so what would be the best choices in each? By thin I mean 13mm and below. Do 7750's even exist in that thickness? I'm sure regular ones do. (I hope the new Bond Seamaster, when it comes out, will be fairly thin!)

If anyone wants to sell their rep display back I'm interested.

Excellent read! I enjoyed it and looked up more information at many of the watches he mentioned. Talk about high horology!
-
The seamaster "bond" chronograph is very good out of the box. It's not bad at 41-42mm, but it's pretty thick.
-
Did you read By-tor's Omega guide or not? It's a sticky at the top of the page and will (and already has) answer all your questions. Do your research first, because his guide is a classic.

I'm just waiting until the factories come out with a new and improved "red" Bond Seamaster. Of course, it might be a waste of time and they might look like [censored], but then again it might be in the current fad of super reps and be outstanding. The dealers know about the interest, and they will sell like hotcakes. No need to bother with flawed reps when we know for a fact that a new version will come out, that will potentially fix them. If not, I can always get the current ones...

If i'm going to send an almost $300 watch overseas, I'd definitely like to maintain some sort of contact with the person I sent it to. I think I will stick with Chieftang, even if he doesn't do day/date switches.

So I got the bracelet off my 3717. It was interesting, because not that much of the spring bar was actually inside of the lugs, making for a weak connection. I compared it to the 20mm spring bars I have, and they were the same size and much thinner, to fit through the small space in the endlinks. I am planning on getting new spring bars (21mm), but I don't have calipers ot measure the thickness of the rep spring bars to fit. Can you guys help me out? I feel that 21mm spring bars will be much more secure than the 20mm in 21mm lugs.
