For once and for all, tips on removing 3717 bracelet?
whitestripes replied to whitestripes's topic in The IWC Area
Is this how it is with the gen? Because it's hard as hell. Considering how easy their bracelet resizing is, their springbars are a [censored]. -
For once and for all, tips on removing 3717 bracelet?
whitestripes replied to whitestripes's topic in The IWC Area
Thanks toadtorrent! I'm frustrated from my efforts earlier today, but I will try it soon! The 3717 is such a beautiful, perfect watch! (and that's stock... I can't even imagine what it'd look like with double AR and ETA day/date wheels...) -
Student. Will have my BA May 2009!!! I don't really wear my 3717 around my friends because they know I have a gen Speedy Pro and wearing a $5000+ watch is quite unrealistic. I love it though!

Just got my 3717 and want to put a strap on it. I struggled for about 20 minutes and gave up. I have changed bracelets/straps on countless watches but this is damn near impossible. What are your tricks?

Man, I wish I had more money!

May I present my first super rep: (sorry for the pics, it's a webcam fixed to my laptop monitor) It was confirmed as only having lume at 3,6,9,12 and hands, and indeed it does. I am pretty sure this is a V1, because the AR is there, but weak (reflections disappear at some angles). The markers looked a little crooked in the pictures, but that's because they are not flat but three dimensional, so depending on the angle it looks like it's a little angled when it's not. I am thoroughly impressed by the fit and finish of the watch, legibility. This is also my first A7750, the pushers are hard to push! Also, I've noticed the minute totalizer switches over at about 58 seconds instead of at the triangle: is this characteristic of the A7750? Here's a wrist shot (not too big for my wrist, is it?) The bracelet resizing is very IWC and easy to do with toothpicks, but IMHO nothing beats screws. With these you don't need a small screwdriver or specialized tools, but I have to hold two things and push in perpendicular angles. No problem, but a little awkward at times. Question: how do I get rid of all of that blue protective sticky stuff on the crown? It's in between the small wording of Probus IWC Sca-whatever and it's hard to get all of it out. I love this watch and it's a keeper. Will most likely double AR, datewheel swap and relume, but that'll take time. I wish I could just send it to one place to get it all done. (in CONUS) Anyway, this is certainly a super rep. I don't see it getting called out because 1) IWC is not known by non WIS, like Rolex 2) Its fit/finish is damn near perfect 3) it's incredibly accurate! You need this watch.

You might want to consider turning off the caps lock.

How's the lume?

I would LOVE an unbranded sub.

So I just got the famous noobmariner, and what can I say, I love it. This may be the strangest thing said on a REP forum, but I don't really want all the expectations that go into wearing a Rolex, as I'm a bit young (early 20s). However, the 40mm case is simply perfect and I love the design. What would be perfect is if I could just change the "Rolex" on the dial to "Tudor." Inaccurate, but if someone sees the dial the first thing out of their mouth will be "is it a fake?" Do these exist? Not looking for a snowflake tudor or similar, just want a semi-believable sub. Don't really want to get a Debaufre, at $442 they are too expensive.

That rep is VERY COOL, but I doubt the market would be big for it. They would never be able to get the subdial spacing, anyway, which is a major turn off for me.

Watchmaker services - wish list - edited - proposed servics

Any updates, phoband? I am VERY interested in this service and can't wait for some superluminova!!! Do you have a price list for common mods? Just curious, which part of the US are you in? I'm in CA. -
I've been looking to find my next rep (it's funny we're always on the prowl, even though I just got a noobmariner and I have a 3717 on the way). I've never had a Ti watch, gen or rep, and I want one. What's out there, and what's good? Been thinking about the Ti IWC Ingenieur, but what other options? Post pics or list some of your Ti favorites!

If any of you have switched to the solid caseback, I'd like to buy the display back from you. PM with offers

I'm one whose sold all his reps for a gen. I only had 3 reps at the time, and still needed to save for a bit to get my gen Speedy Pro. However, I have been wearing it as a daily wearer (with a beater Seiko 5), and have loved it. The fit, finish, feel of a gen is always topnotch, and you never have to nitpick. There are drawbacks... I get really worried when I'm somewhere sketchy, but hey, at least it's not a shiny Rolex. The gen forums are quite fun. HOWEVER, My rep addiction is back in full swing. I crave some variety in my styles of watches. I had a rep Speedy before I got the gen, and as many often say, I can "demo" high end watches, and the ones that I like I can consider buying. But watches like a Sub are best kept to reps, IMHO, I wouldn't like always being asked if it's a fake. Your average Joe knows there's faux-lexes, but not too many know there are fake IWCs, though they are of similar price ranges. To be honest, I am a bit young (early 20s) and still in school to own five multi-thousand dollar watches. With only one nice watch, it's not that implausible, but someone my age rotating six watches is a bit ridiculous. Now, I only have my gen and beater, but I have a Noobmariner and IWC 3717 on the way, and am looking for a Seiko SKX007 for a rugged tool watch--it's an incredible value and less than the price of all the reps we talk about today. That's a jump start to a little collection, but I'm really only going to wear the Sub and 3717 at home. That might be weird, but I think people might wonder about them, and I don't want to attract the wrong kind of attention, which the Speedy might do to some degree. At least it's not a Rolex, huH? My plan is to wait until I get a decent paying job before I break them out, and stagger them, of course. Man oh man, I love watches.

good luck with finding the mark xvi. I want one, along with a hundred other RWGers... never made

Lume--MOST IMPORTANT Day/Date wheel swap Fix Asian 7750 Servicing It's about time. The ConUS needs more things like this--it seems everything is geared toward the EU members! -
Haha Nex, you're right I am starting to be a little neurotic about it. It's just that it's the most expensive rep I've bought so far, and I have no reps right now, so I'm worried about lots of things going wrong. Thanks for lightening the mood, and thanks everyone for your help. I'm going to OK the watch and will wait patiently for it.

Why do you guys keep telling me it's a fake? Of course it's a fake! This is RWG and why would I ask for QC help if I thought it was gen? Then I'd be asking: Is this gen?

Scratched Gen Speedy, Polywatch and an observation
whitestripes replied to abat's topic in The Omega Area
I think it's on all the hesalite (plastic...) crystals. My post 2000 speedy has it. -
Maybe it's a hybrid with the dial of the V1 with the AR of the V2?
-
Wait, isnt this the V2? There is STRONG AR coating in some pics.
-
Haha, yes it's a replica. I'd like to get it shipped soon, so anything?
-
Paid for it, seller sent me pics of watch before he sends it for me to check. Need some experienced eyes!

Where do I buy the 42.5mm ("4th Gen") PO for Canada?
whitestripes replied to sayan's topic in The Omega Area
Andrew (Trustytime) has it, so Josh almost certainly does too-- $318 + $30 shipping.
