  1. Can I ask who you got this from, and does it have the Asian or Swiss movement? Is it water resistant like the gen?
  2. Hi guys, there is a guy buying a supposedly gen IW502213 IWC port perpetual on another forum, I told him that I have never seen a rep of that watch with all the dials working, or with a really accurate movement as seen through the back. Am I correct? Or did I give him bad info? Anyone here seen a super rep of that watch that'll stand up to close inspection? Thanks.
  3. If no one fell for it then they won't be doing it.
  4. Agree, the rep guys are the ones who really scrutinize every aspect of the watch with a magnifying glass.
  5. But is the rep as water resistant?
  6. Anyone got a pic of the gen movement for comparison?
  7. That regulator is nice! Me I am looking at an IWC Top Gun at the moment, why.... Cause I've been looking at it for years and it still looks good to me, now do I buy the gen or the rep?
  8. Honestly I don't know how some people think, my neighbor who knows that I live in a nice house, in a nice area, and that i drive a nice car, remarked to me one day that she just assumed that all my watches were fakes! Huh? Why would she assume that? She just assumed that my Moon watch, IWC port chrono, and other watches... All gen..... were Reps? To this day I have no idea why. Oh I am considering a rep IWC top gun........ :-)
  9. I spend quite a lot of time here reading about this and that watch.... But I've always bought gen watches, partly because I always wanted an IWC port chrono but the reps have difficulty doing that seconds hand at 6 o'clock thing... So I bought the gen in the end. But I have lots of respect for the guys here because...It seems to me that the guys here in rep land actually appriciate the effort that goes into a watch more then in gen land, mainly cause if I buy a gen I just expect it to work and if it breaks I take it back to the dealer, while in rep land you guys expect the watches to be not perfect and it's normal to take it apart and fix various things in it, and in doing so you gain a larger appreciation for the art of watch making. No one in gen land ever talks about how nice and even a lume job is, or who does great AR. It is just expected to be so. Like the whole discussion about putting graphite into the movement of a rep IWC port chrono to get it's reliability up. That's interesting! Just my 2 cents
  10. Anyone here have this one ? http://www.yourtrustytime.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=30_191&products_id=5721 Ceramic, Titanium, With Swiss 7750, even has AR. Sounds very good, anyone here tried one out? I sated my wish for a Port Chrono by getting a real one, now the Top gun is catching my eye.
  11. Man it's not even a good copy! definitely fake, and a bad one too.
  12. Sorry to bring up and old post, but how is the Watch going many moons later? is the Tourbillon still working?
  13. I am also interested in a getting a "cheap" Asian Tourbillon since the swiss ones are like $150K, I saw a very nice Omega Tourbillon in the Omega shop just the other day and that's raised an interest in getting a seagull one again. Any other recommendations? Anyone got a nice IWC Tourbillon ?
  14. My speedmaster from the 80's, I waited so long to get this watch and I love it.
  15. Can I please ask your opinions on this watch: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250507985771&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:US:1123#ht_1763wt_959 Now to me it looks very real as: 1)The dial spacing looks right and the dial is generally correct looking 2)the crystal has the little omega symbol on it. But: The eagle print on the back doesn't look as glossy as I have seen from other photos And I don't know why the seller would hide the serial numbers if it's a real watch. What do you guys think?
  16. Very nice Speedy rep, don't like the blue screws but hey it looks like a very nice movement
  17. yup, it's easy to CNC it. especially after someone make a CAD model of it. and plating is easy and cheap too. I can't believe it went for so much $$$ !!! just goes to show people will pay anything for the brand.
  18. the replica's don't come close to this watch at this moment
  19. I found this site full of great pictures of a Gen IWC 5001, so I thought I'll share it with you guys: http://www.phase-de-lune.net/iwc_5001/iwc_5001.htm
  20. I just looked at Perfect Time and Trusty Time and they don't list the Portuguese Chrono anymore ! What happened? have they gotten tired of the failure of the seconds at 6 o'clock subdail? Maybe they have gone away to evaluate putting graphite on the gears?
