Paneristi has the collectors section. I've bought from there before and the transaction went through great. Not sold on there though.

These look great. How close are they to gen though? Any obvious tells? Does the AR need to be sorted or is it good enough out of the box? I've been thinking about getting a BP for a while now and this might have pushed me over the edge

The only time I've been called out by somebody about wearing a fake, I had on a gen Pam with an in house movement so the guy looked like a fool in front of everyone. As everyone else has said, its all about context. If you dress well, you'll never get called out on the newer factory works of art.

My chrono stopped resetting to zero after a couple of weeks as well. I had it up for sale for a while but now I think I might keep it and get a service. Good luck with your new purchase, it's a lovely watch.

Looks like a great rep. I've got the 288 myself and it is still one of the best ootb reps you can buy. Crown is not an issue.
-
Thanks, I was looking at the old version that was out of stock. Might have to purchase one.
-
They are out of stock. Pity because for $180 that is a really good phone, irrelevant of it looking like an iPhone.

I love the 50's case as well. IMHO far more elegant than the luminor historic case although they do sit bigger on the wrist which makes it far more noticeable - nobody mentioned my Pams until I started wearing a 351.
-
Just checked on my gen Pam and I have the same thing. Looks a little high but good.

Panerai are moving over to their inhouse movement but quite a few watches still have the ETA 7750 (automatic) in them and the asian copy is very close. I've got a 288 and a 253 both of which have a similar movement to the gen. You can find out what the gen watches have in this very handy spreadsheet. I think the 50s case is far more impressive than the luminor, very striking and sits slightly higher on the wrist for more presence.

the 312 is a close rep but the movement lets it down. Have a look at Andrews site with the Pams listed on his homepage being the "Ultimate releases". The 351 also has the same case and design but with gold hands and graphite case and worth looking at if the movement doesn't bother you. If you are looking for a 50's case, you should also consider the 253 or the 212. The only problem with these is the use of mineral glass instead of sapphire. It's pretty difficult to notice though. BTW I've got a 253 up for sale in the UK at the moment.

The gold hands with the tobacco dial looks great. Don't be too hasty to swap it out. Near enough any Pam owner would know it has a clear back though as all in-house movements do as far as I'm aware. Lovely watch though. There isn't a Ti version of the 359, you'd have to buy both and swap the movement and face over.

Would this be a good way of stripping tough AR as well? Thanks for the info.

You really are quite a stressed little fellow that loves to argue aren't you. I'm obviously joking.
-
Seriously? The only reason I made such a joke is the fact you referred to me as "mom". Your mom just whispered to me that you should grow up.
-
I thought it was pretty funny myself. Are you one of those serious people that get offended really easily over obvious jokes? Maybe we should listen to adeodatus and stop this rather stupid argument.

8" is fine. I've got a 7" wrist and wear a 44mm all the time. You could get away with a 47mm. -
I'm not your mom, I'm just using her laptop post coital. I've told her before about leaving it logged into her favourite sites.

That is something we can both agree on. He was excited, first rep and all that, you came down hard on him for no reason. Drop it.

Occupiers? What utter [censored]. I've been reading for 4 years and commenting for 1. You can't dismiss a differing opinion to yourself as an outsider just because you don't agree with it. I think you should read rule 25 again BTW. You chastised wetwork incorrectly.
-
People have differing viewpoints in life and sometimes you have to accept that "justasgood". Reading through the whole thread I thought that Pho asked for trouble with the content he added to a happy little thread. Sure wetwork was a bit of a [censored], asking dealers and members way too many questions, but the thread took the turn for the worse when Pho piped up with irrelevant rules.

Seeing the photos from the other members, I don't think you'll be disappointed. Share some photos when you finally get it (damn CNY :-) -
Stop whining. Personally I think you interrupted an excited newbie with [censored] rules and you could have handled that far better than you did for a senior member of the forum. .

Reps discussed on gen forum...almost balanced opinion!
Mills replied to cougar1's topic in General Discussion
Some common sense for once. I liken the rep v's gen argument a little like pirating MP3's v's buying from iTunes or a shop. If I had never pirated certain tracks from artists I would never have bought their full back catalogue. Same goes for reps, I would have never bought a real Panerai until I'd bought a few reps and lived with them for a while. On the comment of rep guys knowing more than gen, this is so damn true. I knew nothing until I started diving into the whole rep scene and the fact that the watch only cost me $250 gave me the confidence to take it to pieces, mess around and make mistakes that didn't cost me a fortune.
