  1. Thanks everyone! @JoJo35: Still on the waiting list for a WM9 LV from BK Sometimes I think what kills the rep game is the wait, you just end up getting a gen because you don't have the patience. Just my $ 0.02. BTW, can you share more on the bezel?
  2. @freddy333: I'll try to get pictures of the movement but I don't want to do too much unless I'm serious. I'm just weighing the cost. It's cheaper (and more fun) to get parts but this seems like a good buy and a gen is always a gen Do let me know if there are any resources I can research more about those movements. @highoeyazmuhudee: Serial is 18##### so that puts it as a 1966 (I think). What would you pay for it without papers and box? -MONO
  3. Hello, Someone is selling a gen 5512. I don't know much about vintage rolex so I wanted to get your input on whether you think this is a gen and what is it worth. The crown guards look point enough but the dial also looks like a replacement. I can't believe a meter first dial looks so new. Thanks in advance and hope you enjoy the pictures. -MONO

    Mark XVI

IMHO it looks like the bezel is a bit too large compared to the gen (I think). The case is also too square but the polishing looks nice -MONO
  5. Col. You're right. Something lost in transaltion. I had this idea of factories suddenly switching the inner casing because they became worried that customers expecting their watch to be magnetic proof because of having a inner case would start complaining because they can now test it. I had an experince with fake DVDs having the extras printed on the back but not included on the DVD and seeing the pirates removes it a few months later because of complains. I am certain the good people on RWG would expect the inner casing only as being cosmetic like Lani. But I have had experiences with colleagues who can't accept that the chronograph is not working and the lume is weak on their reps. Trying to draw comparisons albeit not a good one. Sorry Lani is 100% right. We should think of our reps as just reps. Hope this clarifies. -MONO
  6. Took the opportunity to check out the IWC boutique in China. They showed me this It demonstrates the anti-magnetic protection of the soft iron inner case. The watch continues running when it is put ontop of the magnet. Watches without the soft iron inner case stop. Looking forward to seeing experiments and tests with reps. I predict that the factories will soon stop putting soft iron inner case to avoid refunds and complains. Enjoy. -MONO
  7. That was fast Can't believe the factories in China picked it up so quickly. Just baffles me that they won't do a Mark XVI. -MONO
  8. http://sibon.triple-it.nl/images/stories/IWC/BP-PA/index.html This was posted on the IWC forum of a gen 5004 and gen 5001. I haven't seen this so I thought of sharing it - MONO
  9. Thanks for the comments. It's not gen but it has some great parts The crystal is really fantastic. I wish you could see it in person. I've actually compared the watch to a G series-gen. That said there are noticable differences. The size is the biggest giveaway. The gen case is much smaller and the movement polishing is world-class. The dial is another problem Does anyone know if these are common problems with radiomir reps or just a difference between the G-series and H-series? - MONO
  10. I think the pre-owned price was US$ 15,950. I don't know the retail as most forums don't allow price discussions. - MONO
  11. The strap is gen What about the dial? - MONO
  12. My friend took pictures of his PAM 183 and he wants to hear from the best in the business Appreciate your comments. - MONO
  13. How about an almost all-black 3717? The wrist shot is from TZ. The watch shot is from a watch seller in Hong Kong. I don't have much information except it is a 46 mm Pilot's Double Chronograph and limited to 30 pieces - MONO
  14. I think the PVD BP is a fantasy watch as the BP has not yet been PVD to my knowledge but there is 5002 blue dial platinum. This is my record of actual big pilot variations so far albeit the 5002 platinum blue dial and Antoine de Saint Exup
  15. I think this is because of the heavy AR that IWC uses on its gens. Without the double-AR, you can immediately tell it is a rep so the AR is important. I have a rep Ingenieur and it needs a better crystal with double-AR to solve this problem. - MONO
  16. Projectologist, thanks for sharing this. Is it possible to see some pictures of the printed blueprints? Just want to get an idea on how awesome it looks. - MONO
  17. I have a good contact in Chinatown. Quality stuff PM if you need info. -MONO
  18. IWC charges 180 to do the AR and taking the crystal out for a mark xv. I think this includes shipping and extras. I know its not directly helpful but it should give you a price ceiling to compare. -MONO
  19. ASIM, good news! The new Aquatimer diver's watches are already featured in the Member Area at www.iwc.com - MONO
