  1. The one CHT posted is probably one of the better versions. Nice shape on the numerals and a thin crown. Many of the reps have either too thin, too fat or too square shaped numerals. Another thing to look for is correct crystal height. It should be raised a few mm above the bezel. Many reps are not.
  2. What are the differences irl between the MBW and the ingod? I have never seen them myself and it's hard to tell from just the photos.
  3. Yes I'm sure. I've had the case a couple of years now. It's from Paso iirc. My other MBW 5513 has a slightly higher crown position, almost in the center of the case. The gen sits just above the center and almost all MBW sit just below the center. It's a very easy tell imo, if you see a photo from the right angle. It's just that on this case the crown position is so low that there is no material left to counter sink the hole.
  4. I've run into a small problem. The existing crowntube is located very low on my MBW 5513. If I even try to counter sink it, the hole will break through the back of the case. What do I do now? should I just screw down the tube as deep as it goes and just leave it? Do all the MBW watches have some variance in crown height?
  5. I have one MBW 5513 with all gen parts already, so I would like to try and keep this project cheap. My plan is to use only rep and aftermarket parts. I'm looking for a good dial for my spare 5513 project. How good are the dials from MBW compared to the ones from ingod44 for example? Are there any other good alternatives? Thanks.
  6. I'm probably going to order some retainging rings from JMB for my other projects. So my plan was to ask him to make me one more for this one. Does any of the reps accept gen casebacks?
  7. I need a new dial for a spare project I have. But I don't want to spend much on it so gen parts are out of the question. I've read severalt times that the MBW white dials are quite ok for the money. But I have no idea which dealer I should turn to. The only parts I have lying around at the moment is an extra MBW 5513 midcase, some crown tubes and perhaps a caseback somehere. I was thinking of maybe getting a cartel 5513 and using its bezel and also the caseback if I don't find my old MBW. Should it fit on the MBW midcase?
  8. How does the clark compare? I've heard they're good, but never seen one IRL.
  9. I tried the 30mm socket and plastic wrap method and it rocked. I greased the bottom part of the crystal first. For some extra power I also used a one hand clamp to press it all the way down. Thanks for all your help.
  10. Please check that if you can. I have trouble with my rep retention rings either being to loose or to tight for my gen bezel to rotate or even fit properly.
  11. Get a gen crown with an aftermarket tube. You will have to drill the case and retap the hole to accept the new tube. A bit of work but a great difference.
  12. Do you know if it's possible to fit a gen bezel on the retaining ring?
  13. It shouldn't be difficult to align the cyclops. Just place it in line with the crown tube, or do it with the dial and movement inside. Also the crystal is not that hard to press down, it's the retaining ring that is tighter.
  14. [censored]. I haven't checked that yet. The case back was off when she pressed it. I'm using a different case now anyway, but I will have to check the first case ASAP.
  15. Fantastic. Where can I get one?
  16. How is the bracelet and clasp on this?
  17. The folded from trusty looks ok, the price is very good. But the last link connecting to the spring bar has a funny bend in the middle.
  18. I still feel a gen may be too expensive and the folded is not availible from yuki right now. Any other suggestions? There is a submariner bracelet at yuki's for only $55, any comments on this?
  19. Mine is a newer version, with a gen luminova dial with white gold surrounds. I like the folded bracelet but I don't know if it maches the more modern dial.
  20. My AD wants $1500 for a new bracelet. I would prefer a good rep bracelet instead. Any advice?
  21. This is a lot to consider. I'll try sanding the ring a bit first and use some grease and or heat. I had no idea that the rings or crystal would require modding to fit.
  22. Thanks for your replys. It seems I may have to do some sanding after all. I was afraid I had missed something.
  23. I have a MBW 5513 with a gen plexy. My watchmaker used all her might pressing it on, until the table bent but there still a gap between the case and the ring. Do I need to sand the inside of the ring? Should I try with silicone grease before pressing it on? Thanks.
  24. Hi. Since the GMT only has 24 clicks and is bidirectional I guess the construction is a bit different than the Submariner? Does it have a tight or lose feel when turning? I have experienced some watches with a bit of play, wich I don't like. Is it this way with a rep GMT?
