Are ingods dials that scratched or is it the crystal?
-
And always have a lot of photos of genuine watches to compare when you're working. Ebay is a very good place to find photos of vintage watches in different angles.
-
Very nice. First I thought it was a gen, with the thin hour hand and everything. The lugs and crown guards look very good on this case. It's these parts that makes the sub c really stand out IMO.
-
Do you know if 2 mm spring bars fit?
-
That is very kind of you.
-
Thanks. If it's all gen I can understand that you perhaps want to keep it for later.
-
My plan was to avoid any clasp problems by going with an unbranded clasp. But if the newer clasps are better there's no reason not to buy one. How is the overall quality of your president?
-
I don't think I would mind some aftermarket parts. Are all the links included? What price did you have in mind? You can PM me if you prefer.
-
Thanks. But I don't want to pay gen prices right now. How does this one look to you? Or this one?
-
Thank you. The price is very nice and it looks high quality. But I'm not sure I like the clasp and the last link before the endlinks.

I've been looking at lot of aftermarket and rep bracelets on various sites and e-bay. But I have no experience when it comes to rep jubilee bracelets and don't know what to expect. I think I'd prefer one without any Rolex stamps on them. Are there any aftermarket jubilees that are good? Do any of them accept 2mm spring bars?
-
Very nice. How long have you had it?
-
I've just been in contact with Watcheden and it seems that this "update" is permanent. The factory is going with this design from now on. Really unnecessary on such a nice rep, but that how it often is in rep world.
-
If I was in a hurry to get a speedmaster I would just take this one and wear it just like it is. It still looks awesome and I don't think it's possible to change the printing of the subdail with good results. Or you could cancel the order and try and find a used one here on the forum.

I believe that the photos at TT are the actual reps. Where did you find the photo you posted?
-
How about this one from TT? It looks close but not perfect. I've never seen a DJ rep IRL so I don't know how good they really are.

I'm plan on buying an Explorer I 2010 and doing some mods. There seems to be two or three versions out right now: V1, V2 and V3. The V2 and V3 has the correct case shape but wrong crown and hands. The V3 also has the correct lume color. The V3 on the other hand has correct crown and hands but wrong case shape. If I buy the V2 or V3 can I replace the hands with Clark's tudor hands, are they the correct size? Is there somewhere I can buy a better crown? Or do I have to get both versions and cannibalize the V1 and put the parts on the V2? Thanks.

A 5513 from Josh will probaly work fine. But the crown guards are a bit on the short side. You can get dial and hands from Yuki. Next step would be a gen crown from ebay and a tube from Yuki. Then a nice crystal from clark and a custom retainer ring from JMB.

This is a fantastic job, really perfect. Congratulations. The Explorer 1 is probably my favourite model. May I ask how much a project like this costs?
-
Thanks for your help and replys. I don't plan on using a gen caseback, but I'm interested in how 'compliant' the cases really are. I think it's usually better to keep the cost and number of gen parts as low as possible. At least if good aftermarket alternatives are avaliable. It's easy to get carried away and suddenly your rep cost close to a second hand gen.
-
The rep Sub C is a VERY nice watch in its own right. But not close enough to the gen to have too expensive mods done, IMHO. Save that for BKs TW sub. The thicknes and shape of the case and bezel are a bit different from the gen, and can't be modded to look closer to the gen. The cgs are not too large but almost too small, so are the lugs. If you really want it modded a BK date wheel is the first thing I would do. Then perhaps have the cyclops AR treated and relume the dial and hands. The crown is close enough to the gen. If someone is expert enough to call you out on this watch it's going to happen before they even see the crown.
-
NDT and yuki are too expensive for my taste. I think I paid less for my gen. But that don't happen very often... Where can I source an MBW dial? It doesn't look too bad.
-
Very nice, Watchguy. Which version is it originaly? Did you change the crown or what are the mods?
-
That sounds interesting. But does that mean the WM9 tube will not fit a gen sized case hole?
-
Hmm... I probably could. But it would probably take time and be really boring. I'll give it a try. Thanks.
