  1. I can't say how the PVD will hold out as I haven't put the watch together yet, but it looks pretty good. Other than the fact that there's a small part of the CG lever that didn't get the PVD treatment, I'm pleased. Well, at least you can't see the un-treated part till you open the CG lever.
  2. Thanks for the advice scoobs. It's much appreciated. Man I'm learning this isn't a simple thing to do. My hats off to all you experts out there who've had the patience to learn.
  3. I would like to know the answer to this also. I have a SS bracelet and I'm missing a push pin and that tiny middle tube. Any help would be appreicated. Thanks.
  4. My question to The Zigmeister and those who've tried re-luming on their own, how difficult is it? Do you just paint new lume on with fine brushes? I'm sure if it's not a sandwich dial then staying within the lines is quite difficult? I'm thinking of trying it out and wanted to know how difficult it would be. Thanks.
  5. Great stuff everyone. I'm really learning a lot from reading all of your posts. I've searched for Jimmy Fu on ebay (jimmfzfu) and I didn't get anything. Do any of you guys know where I can find some of the parts he produced? Thanks.

    Very nice!!!
  7. I've sourced that SS bracelet, but it's missing a few push pins. Does anyone know where I can find a few push pins? Not the screws. Thanks. Ztech
  8. That's extactly the type of crown I got from him too. It's gen like in fit and how tight it closes. I don't even have a movement in the emtpy PVD'd case and the lever is still tight.
  9. Wait, just to clarify... Does DSN = DavidSen? So basically, I should stay away from DSN's PAM's then? I mean I wouldn't want to be stuck with a watch that won't accept any other part.
  10. Oh yeah, that's for certain. I could either 1. buy a gen like I'm pretty much planning to and 2. get a hold of a gen that we can get measurements on. I wouldn't dream about doing this without a gen. I'm guessing that the reason so many reps are bad is because they keep rep'n a rep.
  11. http://www.nicereplica.com/pro_detail.php?ProId=126 Looks pretty good for the price no?
  12. Thanks Corgi for the encouragement and the advice. I guess I need to take a big step back and not approach this hobby like I do in the gen world. Things are so much more clear cut over there. I'm gonna take this weekend to think it over, but I'm sort of playing with an idea. Just an idea mind you, but I have a good buddy who's in the metal business. Well, it's a lot bigger than, just a business. He's got a company with a 200 sq. ft. facility that works in metal fabrication. I'm toying with the idea of giving him some specs on a case, just the case, CG and crown to see if he can't reproduce a 1:1 copy of a 44mm case. If seems that there are close enough dials/hands/movements/etc. out there now so all we'd need is a "good" case. Hmm....
  13. Hey PAMman, I'm thinking of purchasing a PAM111H or a PAM111E from either DavidSen or Angus. Which of them do you suggest I inquire with? I know that they're both reliable as dealers, but I'm looking for who's got the "better" rep to start my project from. I understand that upgrades and work will need to be done, but who's rep will require the least amount of changes and will make a better foundation to begin on? Thanks.
  14. To you too PAMman. A sincere, thank you! You guys have been a great help. Now I think I know where to go and how to get it done. I think I'm going to DavidSen or Angus for a PAM002B, if either have them. By the way, what's the B designate? Thanks again to all of you who've contributed.
  15. First sssurfer, let me start by thanking you for taking time to impart some of your expertise with me. I really do appreciate it. Really. Well, my goal is to create the "best" rep as I can possibly create. I'm prepared to throw out everything I've purchased so far to get it right. I'd rather wear something I'm proud of than something I'm not. So fire away. I'm ready. Oh, by the way, all this PAM talk has pretty much made to decide to go and get another gen as well.
  16. I've done my share of research on this, and other, forums, but would like to ask the experts out there on what they think. I would like to get the opinions from the esteemed experts from this forum on how to "create" the best rep. Notice I didn't say "perfect". I've read lots of threads and posts from those of you who are knowledgable and would like to complie, if possible, all that info. in a concise and organized thread. For the benefit of myself and others who might find themselves in a similar position. First, if you were to set out on creating the best PAM rep what would you need? And, of course the all important, who would you source it from? 1. SS case 2. Crown 3. Crown guard 4. Crystal (AR coating???) 5. Dial 6. Hands 7. Movement I'd like to keep this as simple as it can get so I'm gonna limit this rep to a SS case, closed back, with a manual wind movement. Something in the lines of a PAM005. Please be as specific as possible and include if you need AR coating, re-lume, etc. My sincere thanks to all of you on this forum for your consideration and help. It's definitely appreciated.
  17. Doh!!! Ok, so I was mistaken. So sssurfer, since you're an expert with this subject. Which PAM should I buy if I'm looking to build an ultimate PAM? As you might have read, I've had nothing but failures so far. I purchased a PAM127 fiddy from another member, which I paid $450 for, and it's definitely got issues. Like the CG lever not flush and loose like some women I knew back in the day and scratches hands and a blemish on the dial. I've picked up a few items seperately... 1. PVD'd 44mm case with display back, saphire front crsytal (no AR) 2. 6497 movement. Purchased from Helenarou (ebay). I have no idea if this is Chinese, Swiss, etc. It's got a swan neck though 3. $200 worth of tools I have no idea what to do with. I also picked up some various cases and parts, but I have no idea what I need to put together a "correct" rep. Please help.
  18. Sure thing, but I've read a lot of negative stuff about his stuff though. I bought a set of hands, a PVD'd case 44mm, and a 6497 movement from him. I'm going to see if I can put it together into something I can wear, but make sure you know that his stuff is labled Marina Militare and not Panerai. Good luck. P.S. Now having purchased several reps, the CG and CG lever from Helenarou is abasolutely the best I've seen yet.
  19. That is what I was afraid of, but I guess I've already got myself into the mud so... Fun I can take, the frustration I can't. At present time, I'm trying to find out what parts, exactly, I need to create my ultimate rep. From what I've read I'll need... 1. Susage 27 dial 2. Any 44mm SS case 3. 6497 movement, preferably Swiss I've contacted Angus and will probably pick up one of his 111E's, if he ever get's back to me. Thanks all!
  20. Since it looks like we definitely have enough interest, can a vetern member of the forum create a new thread just for this so people can sign up?
  21. I bought a PVD'd 44mm case from Helenarou and it's really good. I guess it might be a fluke? I dunno, but the CG level is very firm, almost like a gen, and the crystal is very good too. The only thing is that the CG lever is not fully PVD'd. There a section that didn't get the treatment, but other than that I was impressed with the quality.
  22. Ok, can we get a well known member of this forum to start another thread with a list? Then somebody can contact a dealer. If we can get past those two steps first, we can start collection for the deposit and from there it'll be all she wrote.
  23. Great, thanks.
  24. This question is directed at the veterans who might know this, but what else would it take to make the "ultimate" rep? 1. PAM 001 T dial What else? Is there a specific, case, movement, etc.? Maybe we could have a dealer assemble an entire watch?
  25. If indeed we can commission a rep PAM that you can confidently wear anywhere, I'm definitely in! I guess the next step is to 1.) find a trustworthy dealer who'll get the ball rolling 2.) get a list of those interested and collect the deposits. So I'll start the list here.... Those who are interested in putting a 50% deposit for a PAM 001 T dial 1. Ztech 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. Please repost and add your name. You all know what to do. DISCLAIMER! Once you decide to get on the list and put down your deposit, there is no turning back. If you do, you loose your deposit.
