  1. To the best of my knowledge there are no good case sets currently in production. All of the above mentioned resellers have very similar subpar product.
  2. Thanks guys, yours are just as good if not better Hopefully I'll be able to get a custom serial caseback from Jakobbh at some point but for now I think I'm done.
  3. Hi Guys, I think I'm pretty much done with my DSN027A for now. I replaced my stock DSN CG with a rep one for several reasons. The rep CG has a fatter bottom while DSN's CG top and bottom are exactly the same thickness. Secondly I needed a longer lever stub to accomodate a deep T48 crown. I reshaped the guard, flushed the pin, thinned the lever profile rounded its tip, milled the rough edges and re-brushed it. It was tedious and in retrospect I probably should have just bought a gen CG. The biggest improvements though came from installing a Leo datewheel, T48 crown and sourcing a correct A series NOS OEM alligator in black semi-mat. I'm telling you the gator makes this watch. Swapped the caseback gasket for a thicker one, added an extra gasket to T48, so right now the watch is completely water-proof and running an amazing +/- 0.5 sec a day. Some pics: Side by side with a stock DSN027A so you can see what a difference the crown & DW mods make: Here it is relaxing next to my all time favorite PAM01B:
  4. No ideas on where to source just the hands?
  5. Hi Guys, Does anyone know if the 7750 version of PAM49/51 uses the regular sized set of hands or they're shorter than on 44mm Luminors? Also, if anyone knows where to source just the handstack I'd appreciate any pointers. Thanks!
  6. Drhulee you're talking about (I) which i believe comes from paneraisource. it's either a very bad pic or a rep movement and i think it's the latter.
  7. a - gen b - hybrid (balance/shock are not from OPII) c - rep d - rep e - rep f - gen h - rep i - rep
  8. That's a beatiful jf caseset there, Ubiquitous

    PAM 243

See my post (#7). The actual production dial has LSML under 6 o'clock.
  10. Just a quick heads up, guys - pre-orders are now being taken on rg

    PAM 243

Congrats Dluddy, it's a very nice sub that I have pondered buying many times myself. Rep factories built this one off the prototype on panerai's website, it had T S 6 M T arrangement on the dial. The actual production has T S M T under 6 o'clock. You'll have a lot of fun modding this one: crystal, cyclops (i wonder if a swap from ultimate northpole 252 is possible), datewheel, lume, bezel, bezel pips, cg lever pin. Looks like you have your work cut out for you.
  12. FGD, You see all those PreA votes in there, those are at least how many PreA dials you now have to make
  13. Nope, the first ones produced will be for 201/A but the polls are there to vote on the next to be made. Can you imagine that after 4 years and at least 3 different versions/factories, a correct C year and matriculation # caseback will be available for 63?
  14. I thought I'd share this exciting news with the rest my fellow hobbyists. Those not familiar with this project, and also others whom don't venture outside of the comfort of this place might be interested to find out, that for the past several months Jakobbh from RG has been working on producing accurate PAM casebacks. If you're interested in reading the whole project thread with over 200 posts you can check it out here. A picture is worth a 1000 words so you can judge for yourself, 5218-201/A is the 1st to be made: The polls are open on the next casebacks to roll off the production line. Needless to say we will now have not only the benefit of precisely engraved casebacks but also the correct fonts, layout, geometry and in most cases millisimation to BB/PB relationship. I know I'm excited.
  15. Mickey, Depending on how much they're off, if you have a jeweller vise you can compress or stretch the cg. =| |= are vise lips and ^ and > denotes the position of the crown guard in vise 1. if the holes in cg are too far apart, compress a tiny bit like this, then fit to the case, repeat if necessary =| ^ |= 2. if the holes in cg are too close to each other, compress a tiny bit like this (since the feet are cut at an angle you'll be stretching the CG) then fit to the case, repeat if necessary =| > |=
  16. the movement ring for 2836 will take 2893 as a direct swap. all you need is a new handstack from dsn like the others mentioned. $40 last time i checked. of course the run of the mill 63 gmt pam rep will need other mods like a new crown, new cyclops, new datewheel and a relume. best of luck.
  17. see what everyone has on sale -> watchdoddy.com
  18. the site is legit but i'm having a hard time believing that an invicta quartz could retail for $2500, that's just silly.
  19. I didn't see 24A on their site, anyone has a link?

awesome trader and all around nice guy, easy to deal with, fast shipping and accurate descriptions, a ok in my book!

  21. That's easy Find a JF case, gen or T48 crown, JF cg (ultimate angus/homer is pretty good too in a pinch) transplant a ofrei 6497-1 ticker in that bad boy and top it off with a FGD marina dial. That's what I'm doing anyway.
  22. To sum up, the order of correctness for preA: 1) 0099 (terrible quality, font is wrong and mapped improperly, spacing is off, bevel is incorrect) 2) 0333 & 0401 (300m instead of 30ATM, otherwise acceptable) 3) A0042 (BB number should be 971442, 300m instead of 30ATM, otherwise acceptable) I don't think DSN will change anything.
  23. PAMman, I think you mean that preA dials appeared in small batches of A series w/ OP6502 casebacks and a run number <= 300 /1000. I don't believe that you could get a T-S-T dial in a B cased watch unless it was a service center redial. Now, there was a transitional period when B manual winds came with T S T dials but those were contemporary style dials not preA. The bottom line is there is no good rep preA caseback in existence. 0099 is mapped incorrectly, over-beveled and the font is off. 0333 and 0401 are better but they have the incorrect 300m instead of 30ATM.
