so if i wanted to start collecting pieces for a project like this where would you start - I would imagine movement would be the first buy as i would think the price on it would likely keep climbing does anyone think there will be a shortage of cases?

Out of a Vulcain 2 subdial Chrono - (3 & 9)[/ Out of a Wakmann 2 subdial Chrono - (3 & 9) What movements are they
-

does anyone rep the ladies speedmaster -
-
thoses are beauties - would love to build a 6263 one day
-
good luck with the movement - would be interested where you found a 2893
-
what do they look like - specifically on a ladies datejust

still chinese but you can use the the DG3804B found at http://www.ofrei.com/page1119.html that is a 28.8 movement from everything I could find - when running it seems really smooth for what it is worth. I have it in a custom watch I am making. Wanted to use an ETA 2893-2 but has been damn near impossible to find one for less than $500 and that is more than I want to drop at the moment. The real issue with the DG3804 is the lack of hands - movement does not ship with Hands - I wanted to use the GMTII style hands. The only vendor I could find that sold them loose was Cousins but by the time you get them shipped here - you are closing in on $70 for hands The sizes match the the one you asked about so I bought it and stole the hands - you will likely have an issue with the second hand though as it too long where it attaches to the pinion and will hit the crystal - I destoryed it trying to shorten the tube on the hand. So now I have a non matching second hand coming from JulesBorel

same movement that is found in the alpha watches hand size should be .17/1.0/1.5/2.0 - 99% sure that it is a 28.8 movement. It is not a jump hand and there is some slop in the adjustment of the GMT hand.
-
i personally like it -

what are the thoughts on the noob gmt from trusty - looking more on the movement and how well it holds up vs the accuracy of the watch. how well does it hold up to water

Would you care to elaborate on "disaster"
-
damn that thing is beat up to have only been worn a dozen or so times

Gen uses an ETA 7751 based movement - I believe it is the Omega 1151 caliber I have the rep and when compared to the gen the only real tell was the bezel and the inside of the clasp (locking portion) all else was pretty damn spot on. Word of warning the 24 hour dial is not a "GMT" it basically only tells you if it is AM or PM. The lume is also pretty poor on the rep but that is pretty standard

ordered some tools and 3 movements from ofrei all but one of the movements was correct - I have tried calling and emailing numerous times to exchange the incorrect movement but apparently they have too many customers as they can not be bothered by me and my issue julesborel - ordered some screw drivers - i find it curious they can stay in business with their service - I ordered a 2893-2 and a Chinese movement from them - they promptly called to say the ETA was OOS but confirmed the rest of the order When it shipped the chinese movement was not included. When I call they replied "oh that was out of stock as well"

Once again: Where the h*ll is Tudor Tiger Chrono rep?
iflylow78 replied to By-Tor's topic in The Rolex Area
never cared for the "tiger" on the dial. - why the hell would I wanted to wear a watch named for a golfer that doesn't even care about the brand. now give me a non tiger model and old style case (not that hideous new case) and I would be all over it. will start looking for a gen in a year or so. Have always loved both the Daytona and the Tudor - Tudor is in my price range the Daytona is really just stupid price wise but she is a real looker -
where can you get the movement by itself
-
bulding a fantasy watch but want to use hands that would be found on a GMTII I have a suitable GMT hand but need to find the second/minute/hour hands. No luck on either OFrei or JulesBorel (at least not finding on the website) and ofrei has less than happy customer service and julesborel...... kind surprised they are able to stay in business so suggestions would be appreciated - sized needed at 1.00 / 1.50 / .17
-
can't help with fit - if you find a 2893-2 I would love to know the source as I have been having trouble finding one for myself
-
building a fantasy watch and had planned to use an ETA 2893 but like the price of the DG3804B much better. If it turns out well then I may opt to source the ETA at later on.
-
finally found the "full" listing for the DG3804B on the ofrei site question - does this movement all you to adjust the gmt hand indpendent of the hour hand? Or do the GMT hand simply mirror the hour hand showing in essence if is night time or day time
-
do you know what the hand sizes are? or where i can go to get more info on it - ofrie does not list much info and when i google that movement all i get is this thread and and ofrie.

New Rolex models from the Basel 2008 Show
iflylow78 replied to piratedzeus's topic in The Rolex Area
wow that original deep sea looks funky i gotta say i do NOT like the new watches - the case look to slab like - no sexy curves like my 16800 - the lugs are way too fat almost like they didn't want to change their bracelets but wanted a trendy bigger case so they just made the lugs fatter. the crown guards are nasty and I have never been a fan of the engraving on the rehaut i think rolex have made some the most beautiful understated watches ever and they had the special one offs that where gaudy as hell. now it seems trendy and gaudy are the norm too sad - at least my wife and i have our gens - i wanted a daytona but from looks and direction they are going i will need to get a tudor as the older style daytonas are going to be uber expensive
