  1. my gen 16800 came with tritium lume and when it was new it thought it was very bright and it lasted the night at the same level - no need to charge fast forward nearly 23 years and it is no longer very bright but i am not going to relume as it dial / hands are still perfect (lume dots and all) and I do not want a non gen watch face. last overhaul my guy was telling me he could get new tritium put on for about $100 which I may take him up on it at some future date
  2. I ordered a couple of cases from him - he has so far answered every email with in a day or three but it has been 18 (3/4) days since payment and I know nothing has shipped until at least last friday 3/21 I have every faith that I am getting the stuff I ordered - just wish it would show already.
  3. would love the material as well - pm seems to be full. If I may ask you to pm me when you can that would be great.
  4. i am thinking i might try and source some white omega hands and install them - have not had a chance to get it pressure tested yet but I have showered a few times with it and found that water did not enter the watch. mine will gain about a minute to 1.5 minutes a day when wearing it - have decided to get it pressure tested and if it is water tight to a reasonable degree (swimming) then I am going to send it to The Zigmeister and have it serviced and timed. will also get it lummed and have him either change the hands or paint them. I have seen a few gen watches with white/red hands that I liked. if she is not water tight then I will hold off on the service until it is needed. recently got my gen sub back from service and she has been looking so pretty that I have been wearing it instead oh and i really wanted the white but from the photos i could not see the hands at all. Maybe the blue is better.
  5. Was there ever a Tudor GMT? If so does anyone have a picture
  6. so on a tritium dial how do you make it brighter with out making it junk
  7. I want to use the 2893 as my understanding is that it is a true GMT movement and not a modified one. I will be making my own face so I do not care where the date is on the donor watch. Sorry for confusion - was exhausted last night when I was typing
  8. thanks - i saw that one - was wanting to use the eta 2893 movement. not sure if it will be all that better but why not if you can.
  9. My understanding is the dg2813 is the "eta 2824" if so then it would probably not be it as the ones I have seen (watches) with automatic movements do have the "gmt" hand so I would guess it would be the 2836-2 variant. That said I would assume as long as the movement I want use is thinner than the one that came it I can space the movement to get the proper fit. if my thought process is wrong - please feel free to say so and point me down the right path
  10. building a fantasy watch based on a mens chanel j12. want to go with an eta 2893 movement and trying to figure out if i can get that movement into the case
  11. Does anyone know the dimensions of the Asian 21J movement
  12. got mine - first full day of wearing it. like it alot - nice and heavy as the gen is - domed crystal (no a/r) - all functions work nicely although it does not appear that the gmt is independant of the hour hand thought the band was screwed but it is pinned like the gen which is nice but a pain in the ass to adjust. I have the black dial and it is a little tough to see the hands between reflections and at least to me the lack of contrast between the hands and the face lume sucks - you can see hour/minute hands and the split second hand and that is it. over all a very nice watch - went by several jewlery stores to see if i could get them to resize the band and none spotted it as a rep. need to try and get it pressure tested as i would like to be able to shower with out taking it off.
  13. mine is at customs in NY - been there since yesterday. excited to get it - hope I can get it wet though as having to take it off all the time will mean it doesn't get used much
  14. I am pretty close to noob status in this new hobby - what is TRC short for as I would be interested in seeing what else "crippler" has as far as movements go
  15. no shipping company will allow you to open a package before signing - i work for one and that is a big no no. they should allow you to inspect the package for damage but never to open
  16. grumble - waiting on mine and adrew told me it had a screw down crown and gasket on the crown......... was hoping I would get lucky and it would be water resistant.
