it is an awsome watch, and for the promotional price its a good deal!
i just got one of the versions that By-Tor reviewed and i love it. the only problem-
2 weeks later the time set function has been damaged, AARRGGHHH!!
BK is the man. i have had a few dealings with him and he is really
a good guy. sometimes you gotta wait, but IMO he's got the best qc in this business.
what don't you consider another type of rolex or another brand. there's alot
more out there! don't worry too much; we all make mistakes in this game.
i spent alot of $$ on the 'scam' sites before i found these fora.
Lite has different meanings depending on the watch.
sometimes it means they have a different movement, not always.
with hublot many people offer cheaper versions that have the same movement,
i would consider one of those.
i have solid gold gmt rep of the older model. it has done ok after more than 1 year.
the TT 14kt wraps are much better. i got a TT blue sub from BK and its great:
me three - i have a SS omega double eagle with swiss eta, about 39mm or so.
really a super, but uncommon rep. no one will call it out.
also- cannel mens, brequet chrono, all about 40mm.
i would recommend the PT WM9 sub like By-Tor reviewed,
if you can still get one. for $350 you'll get a really nice rep with a swiss eta
(but who really knows anymore).
yes pugwash, my bad. i meant to say Precious Time.
i don't know if there are any left though, PT sold almost all of those
subs. Btw- i've bought from Angus @ Pure Time and i got a great HBBB Lite.
i hope i'm not an 'enabler' but here's some free advice:
i would recommend PureTime if you want a sub. they may have a few of the 'super' WM9 left.
for $350 its a very good watch.
also- BK & Josh are very easy to deal with.
Eurotimez also is a favorite around these parts.
good luck, you can really learn alot here.
i was at Tourneau yesterday looking at some GMT pepsis. the salesman told me that
people with old money still can afford Rolex. i still can't believe that they keep raising their prices in the midst
of this whole mess! he did say that the young wall street Breitling crowd is dying out.
perry is right- many of the scam sites sell TW Best. in fact - james from Best Swiss admitted it on rwg1 during a
famous thread awhile back. i have a few myself and the truth is they're quite good, but way overpriced. they do have real etas
and solid gold midlinks which i tested @ 10-12 kt. but who knows know- its very hard to get real etas lately.
also- they buy directly from some of our own dealers and double the prices.
i think the case & bracelet are the same- the cost depends on the movement.
also some dealers have somewhat different pricing. eurotimez is abit mor expensive
than J & A.
on ebay they have some in the mid 3's. apparently one went for 2k recently which seems
way too low. these are crazy times, some people are very desperate for $$
i'm not sure i trust buying from ebay.
its not bought yet- just a holding deposit.
BTW- for follow up, put down $500 deposit for a 1995 GMT pepsi today @
Tourneau. the price was $4400, alittle steep, but at least i know that the watch will be fully serviced, polished
like new. the service alone is about $500. i think it will hold the value. anything is better than the stock/currency markets
lately! its been a disaster.
