  1. Keep fighting.........and you will surely win the war. God Bless !!
  2. I think that rep certificates are a step too far and in my opinion only required to mug some unsuspecting uniformed individual off. This is a part of this hobby that should not be encouraged in my opinion.
  3. LOL - Same as anything don't ask more than one person for an opinion. Mine is based on ownership of a Steinhart, pictures on request. Wouldn't mind seeing some of yours its_urabus.
  4. Where are you? I'm in Hampshire and have just bought a STEINHART "Nav B-Uhr II 44 mm hand driven (Swiss ETA 6497) and I am very pleased with it. It does seem to sit large on the wrist, I very nearly bought the 47mm version but I am glad that I never now as I think it would look like an alarm clock on my wrist. Although I have to say that the Big Pilot sat pretty well when I tried it on in an AD. Anyway, if you are anywhere near me, you are very welcome to come and try it on for size if you like. Steinhart customer service was excellent as well and Gunther who I believe is either the director of the company or a director of the company dealt with me all the way through and added a free gift of additional watch changing tool and four springbars, although I did purchase two additional straps.
  5. Hello chaps thanks for the words of support and pledges for sponsorship. Andy, there is no way that I would stand in front of a camera and then upload it for the world to see - photogenic I am not - lol. Chrono - There is no secret mate - Like Guinea I am on a VLCD (Very Low Calorie Diet). Guinea used Lighter LIfe and I am on Cambridge. It is simply a matter of willpower and I enjoy the battle with myself but the fundraising gives me that little extra bit of motivation. Check Google and you will find a Cambridge counsellor near you. The first two weeks are definitely the hardest. I am not hungry at all, but definitely miss the texture and taste of real food and to be able to chew would be awesome. I woke up the other night chewing my wife's arm - lol. Enrolled at the gym as well - mainly CV stuff, not much free weights as I don't want to bulk up with muscle. The first few weeks I expect a greater weight loss per week, but hopefully the visits to the gym will give that extra impetus. Guinea your blog and your achievement has given me real motivation and I both congratulate you on your achievement and for sharing your exploits. Anyway to the chase - Another 6lbs last week so a total of 23lbs in three weeks - Hope that it keeps going that way, but if not I hope to achieve at least 3lbs per week. If I fail it won't be for the lack of trying!! Anyone feeling in a giving mood and wishes to help an ailing charity, please feel free to sponsor me. Thanks - http://justgiving.com/iansmith247
  6. Nuff said...................
  7. Lost only 6lbs this week, but still feeling positive. Past feeling hungry now, but the boredom !!! Total of 17lbs over 2 weeks. (Still a fat bastard though, or at least that's what my mates' tell me)
  8. 11lbs lighter this week!! - If anyone feels like following in Guinea's very generous footsteps it will be gratefully recieved. The struggle goes on..................
  9. Thanks Guinea for the sponsorship - It is for a fantastic cause and in truth without the additional motivation, I know that during the hard times to come, that it will be hard. Just read your blog and checked out the before and after - My God, you could stand both images in a line up and I'd bet no-one would ever guess that they were one and the same. Well done to you and I hope that despite a small increase, that you continue to keep trim. Incidentally, I am a very fussy eater, no veg, yes - no veg at all so salads and rabbit food are all out. I have started on the Cambridge and in truth it is truly disgusting, but I hope to see some benefit over the coming weeks, when I will get into an exercise regime as well. I will take up your offer of sending you a PM very occasionally, whenever things start to get bleak and will perhaps ask what motivated you in those desperate hours when the cookie monster was stalking. Thanks again for your very kind donation - Chief.
  10. Thanks for your supportive words Ken - And of course I understand your personal reasons. However, everyone is invited to participate, which is why I posted here on our universal forum.
  11. Well the time has come in my life when I can either resign myself to dying early of a heart related illness, or I can get on my bike and do something to improve my lifestyle, fitness and longevity. I jumped on the bathroom scales this morning and topped them at 260 pounds / 18st 6lbs / 118Kg - Oops where and how did that happen? I have been partial to a beer or two or........... over the years, and the odd meat pie, but enough is enough. Exercise has been a cuss word for the last few years and has consisted mainly of going to the bar to get a drink or when last orders are called I will occasionally break into a jog. Anyway back on track - I have decided along with my fantastic family that I must now do something to remedy my weight and fitness problem. In doing so I think that it would be very selfish of me to not allow some sort of charity to benefit. I have chosen Naomi House which is a childrens' hospice based in the UK near Winchester in Hampshire. This is a link to their site; hxxp://www.naomihouse.org.uk/ - please replace "hxxp" with "http". I am going to embark on a health and fitness regime that will see me drop 4st 13 / 69lb / 31.3 Kg by the 31st of July 2009. - To a target weight of 13st / 189lb / 85.7 Kg. I have set a fairly conservative target of
  12. Ahhhhhh Damn I thought I was in a sales thread - LOL
  13. +1 I agree but can see everyone's point of view. There is no mileage to be gained by beating each other up and taking sides. Dr T has made his point and I think that his frustration has spilt over, making him a little too defensive. I think that we should also recognise that perhaps English is not his first language, so his comments may not appear to be as articulate or as eloquent as a native speaker. It would be a shame to lose a contributing member, when perhaps the intention was not to damage or disparage, but to raise awareness so as to warn other members. Tom's communications are a nightmare, and I know that he will be the first to agree to that, but I have benefitted from his work personally, I can say without hesitation that when you do get your watch(es) you will be very satisfied if not jumping with joy at the quality. I hope that things can be worked out between everyone, but perhaps behind the scenes and not via this thread or another. A couple of concilliatory PM's would repair any bridges that have been damaged. I hope that common sense prevails.
  14. Nice one my man - The first is always the most memorable - Enjoy and wear it well.
  15. My only worry is that I went for a walk last night with my missus and she has gotten herself lost in the snow. I pray that it doesn't thaw too soon or that when it does she never gets to read this.
  16. I think that I must have had sense of humour bypass today - must be the snow wearing me down - I'm a Londoner too - but my humour bypass is relatively recent - and a temporary occurrence. I hope to get it back shortly so that I can resume normal banter/ business. - Now where is my jellied eels.
  17. Billywhiz is selling one right now!

  19. First time I've seen a northerner proud of anything - Just joshing - :p It's the second.
