  1. Indeed. And while she's in Scotland buying us a house, I've had the free time to post enough to get PowerMax! When she returns, my prolificacy will drop.
  2. Oh yeah, I forgot. Any dealers fancy donating a watch to show goodwill, I'll accept pretty much anything. I have no pride.
  3. RWG: poster RWI: poster Right, I'd best start working on TRC ... ps. for those who don't know, Kenberg is poster here
  4. ps. Congrats on 100 posts! Woah, I just hit PowerMax!
  5. My first 28800 was a lemon and was replaced. My second needed regulating and I cocked that up, meaning it needed sending off to a watchmaker. I sent it to The Zigmeister who said it was pristine. If I'd not have cocked it up, I don't think it would have needed a service.
  6. When I first received it, I was amazed by how small it was, yet how much presence it had. The large height makes it look like a Studio Ghibli robot.
  7. The strap is 22mm where it meets the case (Standard straps cannot be used) and 18mm at the buckle.
  8. There's only one thing that goes with butt-less chaps: Jessica Alba.
  9. Thanks for that, I appreciate it. I'm waiting for the first person to post "Oh, that's how you do it. I've been using a hammer and pin ..."
  10. Seeing as this watch seems to be getting a resurgence in popularity, I decided to prepare this for all the new owners. This article can also be found at http://pugwash.cat5.org/articles/gst/ You will need specialist tools for this task! Yes, that's right, you need two toothpicks or similar. I'll wait while you go get them. Look at the inside of that superbly designed bracelet. Best in the watch game, in my opinion. Press a toothpick into one of the dimples, forcing the spring down. Push the second toothpick into one of the side holes ... ... which forces the pin out. You should be able to pull it out by hand, but if not, toilet paper wrapped round the pin and gripped with pliers does the job without scarring the pin. Pin removed. Repeat this on an adjacent link and remove it. To put the strap back together, push the button in and slide the pin into place. This is now complete. You've removed a link. One of the links is one-and-a-half links long, for fine-tuning the size to your wrist. Remember to check the fitting throughout the day as your wrist can expand as the day goes on, so don't have it very, very tight in the morning. You may notice that my watch is weathered; This can be buffed out very easily, but I prefer the character, to be honest. Titanium is gorgeous.
  11. ... and the 7753-copy movement is a modded 7750-copy. Lots of cogs in that one - so many piled on top that the datewheel is recessed. Moving one wheel isn't hard. Swapping wheels is. All they're doing with this is removing one wheel and displacing another. I can see no reason, in my admittedly limited experience of movement mechanics, why this should cause long term problems. Obviously, this is opinion, but I believe the experts will weigh in with me on this one.
  12. That's nice for you. Shame it's not your choice then.
  13. The first three answers I gave are all correct, if weaselesque.
  14. Smacks of Sichuannabe to me.
  15. Neat straps!
  16. He was listing highs and lows. I read it as the highs and lows of work - and his Rolex was there for both.
  17. Half of whom? Half of Mr and Mrs Jones is Mr Jones, but I don't suppose that's what we're after. Ok, 5 boys ... at least half of them are boys. Weasel answer. Two fat boys, three skinny girls. By weight, 2 are boys. Accurate but not so. They have 6 children, a girl being 19, so ... no, just wrong. One is an unborn foetus so ... that's silly. I'll go by weight as saying a glass is half-empty doesn't mean it's completely empty and I don't like weasel questions.
  18. Yeah, not going to happen. Thanks for the reality-check.
  19. No, there aren't. My point was that if I had won a watch with Stallone's signature on the back, I'd never have shown it to my friends. They'd have laughed at me.
  20. add 20 days to the 10 days required and you've got a month for a group buy. Not workable. Ok, as I don't have the kind of account where I can pull in that kind of cash, I believe a single point of paypal is completely unworkable.
  21. UPDATE An additional Rolex arrived before the two new Panerais. It's a Rolex Turn-O-Graph that I bought from a Friend-in-need. Asian 21j, Turd-Oh-God. More Panerais Recently, I won the Post-of-the-Month here on RWG. The prize was an incredible Panerai 196 Daylight from Silix-Prime which was way out of my league. It's got a genuine ETA Valjoux7753, Anti-Reflective coating, decent markers and awesome presence. Seeing as Silix was covering the delivery of the 196, and I had a 40€ credit note from them dating back to my GMT's second hand falling off, I decided to clear off all the accounts and spend it there and then. The Panerai 183 Black Seal was one of the two original choices, along with the 111h pictured above, so I added it to the order, paid the extra and received this watch: I hope I get to update this post soon when the next PugWatch arrives.
  22. Technically difficult, but I was determined to get a pic early on instead of its becoming my white whale. I expect my photography output to decrease when Mrs Pugwash returns ...
  23. Here are some shots of my 7753-powered 196 Daylight. polished bezel, matt case: Anti-Reflective coating: No Stallone signature, bonus! The watch:
  24. As long as $6000 won't get Paypal looking at me funny. *Pugwash thinks back to Blade and his Accura ... hmm ... maybe this isn't the wisest. Although $6000 will get me a Sub and a GST from my local AD. *
