  1. If Narikaa could get the watch builder to use the proper bezel, I bet he'd sell tons more of these. But also would want to get that He valve placement fixed as well. I think that's all this watch needs. Sure there may be some other flaws but those are the two major ones.
  2. I think it's a matter of opinion. There are some real nice genuine quartz swiss watches out there. Although Omega quit making it, I find that the blue seamaster professional in quartz is a fine watch. If I was to buy a quartz watch I'd definitely either go with a tag heuer or try to find a rep of the SMP but Ruby told me that the SMP replicas usually are poor quality. Isn't the A7750 one of those chinese clones that people used to have a lot of trouble with? I haven't bought any chrono yet due to that. The one reason why I haven't purchased an Aquaracer is because there exists no replica of the one with the white dial and blue sub dials. That would be a pretty nice watch to have if they made it.
  3. My opinion is that IWC conveys more money than breitling. But I'm considering purchasing a breitling soon because I found some that are very accurate reps. IWC had a few that caught my eye but I was always scrutinizing the dial. I forgot which one it was by now though. It's hard for me to pick out an IWC that I want because I'm too into super reps.
  4. Ford owned Aston Martin when Casino Royale came out. Aston Martins were getting extremely high praise at the time, even at times more praise than Ferrari for handling on the road.
  5. What a load of bias. Ford did them a lot more good than harm. A LOT better looking aesthetically, Ford quality control, and funding. How is any of that bad? I'd much rather own a Ford made Jaguar than any other.
  6. It isn't very main stream. I went to a car show on the weekend and I was one of 3 people I saw wearing a rolex and I believe mine was the only one that probably was a replica.
  7. If they made a rep of this one, I'd buy it:
  8. Joshua and Andrew bought out all remaining stock from the watch builder so they could control the price. If those two don't carry it, then there are none left but some may show up used in the trading section from time to time. 4th generation ones aren't perfect. Usually the lume falls off the dial. if you can live with that or get it relumed, it is a nice watch.
  9. 1) yes 2) yes, but silix does not have the watch and absolutely can not source it any more. if you buy that model from silix they will send you something different 3) yes 4) www.tt88.com sells it
  10. That photo is slightly off center, you can tell by looking at how deep the rehaut is on the left compared to the right and I'm sure rolex didn't fudge the rehaut. Also look at the CG's, I haven't seen a rep with them of that shape yet. All gold rolexes don't appeal to me a slight bit. I'd still go TT with blue dial, that's my favorite one. Too many black subs on these boards... kinda plain watch imo. I think this watch would look cheaper if they didn't polish the center. Well you can tell it is genuine by the plastics they used and the upc code attached to the case. The serial # in the rehaut is obviously photoshopped out.
  11. I sent Bob a noob question once and he replied pretty promptly off a blackberry, but he asked me "why do you need to buy this part?" so I didn't reply and I didn't purchase from him. But I would buy from Ofrei, i'd just check this forum first for part numbers then place the order. Shouldn't be any problem. I'm just not ready to buy the parts yet since my watch has an issue with lume and it wouldn't make sense to mod a watch that is missing lume (to me anyway).
  12. Rolex 16613. I saw the doctor on Dr 90210 in a business suit in his office wearing it. It looked very professional.
  13. It's hard to spot a rep in some situations. My dad knows a doctor that wears a rep and since he is a doctor, nobody at all thinks it is a rep and nobody ever asks him if it is fake. So he took it to a watchsmith and the guy told him he could spot it when he walked in the door. He repaired it, I guess things were a little looser back in the late 1980's. That K-Mart comment reminded me of the old days, but when you become an adult it really doesn't matter if you are seen in K-Mart at all. Not that I really like the store much, it just doesn't matter. Also to the comment above about the Panerai, that's exactly why my more expensive 42.5mm PO stays at home and I use a 2nd generation with swiss movement as my "tool watch" that I wear to work. Everyone thinks it looks good and nobody knows the difference between this one that is loaded with flaws and my 4th generation and a real one. Sometimes even if you point out the differences, people are too thick to understand. I have a friend who has a replica breitling and he told me a story. One time he went to lunch with a friend of his and he showed him the watch. The guy was amazed and was like wow you own a real breitling. So my friend says, yeah it's a nice watch but it isn't real. The guy keeps insisting, 'come on man I know it is real you can afford that' and my friend kept telling him, no i won't lie to you man it is a replica. The guy kept insisting that it was a real one and would not accept that it was a replica. So I dunno there's all kinds of knuckleheads out there I just wear the watch for the looks, doesn't really matter what others think. However if you wear anything other than a rolex you usually don't get called out anyway.
  14. Yeah that's what I'm thinking, one example would be the 42.5mm 4th generation PO. Discontinued watch but it is a fantastic watch so I'd be wanting to service it. Although it did cost more than $150.. if TT still carries it after 4 years needing service, it'll probably cost $400 to replace anyways with the inflated prices. Also I have one airking that the crown stripped from the tube..and the dealer I bought it from absolutely refuses to sell me it in anything other than swiss (it is asian with swiss model case, dial, everything).. so it has been sitting for over a year, no idea how to fix that. It looks like the Seiko I have however is plentiful on Ebay even still to this date, not sure why..I doubt seiko even makes it any more.
  15. This is one thing I have been considering lately. I assumed that a service would probably cost $150 on one watch. So most of my watches cost < $150 including my Seiko. Would it not be more logical that instead of servicing these watches, just buy new ones when they quit? I'm thinking that the only ones that'd get serviced are ones that can't be replaced.
  16. Those large breitlings are too gaudy for my taste. It has been said that any chinese movement should be reliable as long as you keep it serviced. Some people do service a brand new watch, but I haven't. I think dealers I've been dealing with have been usually inspecting the watches before they ship and possibly servicing some of them.
  17. Why spend $600? Neither king nor silix charges $600 for the "mbw" or the like version. For $600 on this watch I'd be expecting at least solid hollow gold midlinks and not plated with swiss movement. Wasn't the perfect version like around $230 or so? I forgot. I own one, I don't remember paying over 300 bucks for it. I just looked at the site about the "V2" 16613 and the description says it comes with a genuine Rolex band, yet on the forum George clearly states this: "the gold part on the bracelet will be 18k yellow gold wrapped at 0.15 mm, minus polishing and finish, the actual thickness will be around at 0.06 ~ 0.08 mm" That is NOT solid gold. I wouldn't buy this for $600+, bad deal. I'd rather have a $160 version than fork out over $600 on a 16613 with gold plate. The plating is too thin that they use on these things and it will wear out fast. I used to own a couple $160 models and they looked nice but I just had to have the most perfect one. I can tell you it is a waste of time because there are different variants of parts such as and especially the case. The case on my cheaper one I thought looked nicer than on the one people were saying a couple years ago that is the "mbw" that I own. I'd suggest going with king or silix and if you want a good band, try to source a real one or some after market and get the replica clasp put on. Also keep in mind they changed the clasp style in 2008 or 2009. Check Rolex's web page for more info on that.
  18. I haven't had any off center screws and all my screws are stainless steel just like the bracelet. They look fine to me, but I haven't compared to the gen in many years. The cheap replicas they used to sell back in the early 2000's used spring bars or something, they were crap. They also weren't SS, they were plated. I haven't seen anyone selling those in several years but I heard you can still find them in Mexico.
  19. This doesn't appear to affect us, just the street vendors. I'm sure that you can still get your drop shipped and wholesale goods from the manufacturer through the internet. Of course it would affect the small internet vendors that go to the market in Guangzhou to find watches. This will all blow over in a month or so, just watch. They aren't even shutting down factories. I don't think that now is the time for this to happen. China has a history of wanting to keep foreign influence out of their country and it even continues to present day. Look at what happened recently in South China seas with the US Navy and try to tell me that China is trying to buddy up with the West already.
  20. By-Tor that depends on the grade of steel used in the rep though, because my swiss day-date's metal color is very distinguishable from my asian datejust's metal. The day-date does not appear to be 316L and the datejust appears to be 316L. I guess the old day-dates just used cheaper metal. I read today that 316L and 904L are virtually the same, but the content of nickel and copper alloys differ a bit making the 904L more corrosion resistant which really does not matter with a watch. I agree with rolex using the highest grade of steel though, I mean look at how much you pay. I think the cheapest Rolex these days is probably $5500.
  21. I'd agree if this was still the early 2000's. But with all the spam on the internet, people know you can easily buy a datejust replica. Also datejusts have problems. The late model ones have incorrect case size and quite possibly incorrect crystal height. Still, not many people will be able to tell the difference. Also Rolex does not use 316L grade SS like replicas claim to use, they use 904L and there might be a difference in color between the two metals and I have been hearing that 904L SS is more polishable than 316L which is why you'll see problems with the finish on replica bezels at times, especially when the replica is used/worn. The bezel on my Airking for example looks horrible now. Back on topic though, I'd have to say the Explorer. The watch that looks like an Airking. I saw a real one some lady was wearing once and then I saw the reviews a while back on the replica and they looked spot on the same.
  22. I was going to buy at $2.40 glad I didn't. I could've bought that low once and made some money but I probably would have held onto it and lost $1.40/share. This stock is horrible and not a good buy. I think it is going to sink lower than $1 so now isn't the time to buy.
  23. The biggest problem with a rep is if you wear it to a place and let everyone know it's a replica, so it kind of defeats the purpose. And I've had some problems with quality even with "super" reps, some parts can fall off which in my case is lume. I haven't really felt the need to spend $7500 on a real rolex though because all it does is tell time, can't really do much with it. I think if I owned one, after a couple days the novelty would wear off.
  24. One thing about the replica of this watch though is it will have no power reserve. I think the gen is better in that aspect. One probably could buy the movement from ofrei for about a grand or something, but the case will end up being wrong since the he valve is in the incorrect position.
  25. I was told that the guy in charge of making the 42.5mm PO is "bored" with it and that's why he stopped. The cartel bought the last of his complete time pieces so they could hoard them and drive up the price, and some other dealers were able to get some parts that were left over and build franken watches out of those. It would be cool if the guy would give it another shot. I believe the 45mm is made in a different factory and that is why it was produced longer than the 42.5.
