  1. I think the SMP is a timeless modern design, somewhat like the rolex datejust is. But I like both the PO and the SMP. If I was going to get a gen, I'd be looking for a good price on a SMP because it has been out a while. I think the PO is newer and would cost more. I may buy a quartz SMP some day if I find a good deal on one, but they discontinued that watch. Pierce Brosnan (James Bond) wore the quartz model, but that isn't why I like the watch.
  2. The worst flaw the 4th generation has is the lume falling off the markers, it happens to most people. Forgot to mention that the lume doesn't glow bright at all, they need to add more lume into their paint mix when they build this watch. People don't seem to realize that these are still replicas and due to that they are very cheaply made even though you are spending over $200 on it. I'd possibly be interested in the watch if this flaw was corrected and also a correct crown and proper omega logo without feet on it. Another flaw mentioned is there's a gap on the links by the lugs I think. ETA only for me though, no cheap asian movement. Go 5th gen.
  3. Looks like replica collector died. I didn't realize that. I'm also on one other, not sure if it is against forum rules to post the sites though. I'd say RWG is directly on par with the other one I'm on. Neither has anywhere near the amount of new posts they used to a year or two ago.
  4. The bezel teeth on that looks good, hard to find on non chronos these days. Overall a good watch. It even has the correct type of orange strap. Just don't get that strap wet, every replica rolex omega or whatever with a replica strap don't come with very good quality of leather. Usually the outer leather is fake and it has real leather inside for padding. I read somewhere that the genuine omega leather is water proof such that you are suppose to be able to swim with it.
  5. My 42mm is Swiss, but I agree the lume isn't that good. Not only does it not glow very well but it also tends to fall off on the 42mm model. If you already have a PO might want to get something different. Some prefer the black bezel one over the orange. I think the orange is pretty and the black is just kinda utility but that is just my opinion. Well that's perfectly ok that it is vague. When I made my first rep purchase, it took me several months to figure out what I want because even if you are buying a real rolex it is the same thing, there are tons and tons of choices. Rolex will build you whatever watch you want, and likewise replica manufacturers offer hundreds if not thousands of different clones. Right now I'm not even sure what my next purchase would be. I think I really just need to get my PO re-lumed before I buy another watch. I was going to buy 3 rolexes, one was a fantasy watch, one was a blue dial TOG and I forgot what the other one was. Somehow I kind of admire omega replicas a bit more especially since the swiss movement in the replica is made by the same company that owns omega. It's just too bad that you don't get a power reserve as an option on a replica, would be nice to have 48 hour power reserve on a rep omega.
  6. I got my mom a replica rolex and everyone thinks it is real at the store, her friends etc. But I would call out ANY and EVERY lady on the public transportation system carrying a Louis Vuitton handbag. NONE of those are real! LOL Coach is iffy but for some reason I can tell which ones are real. Fakes are kinda hard for me. There's plenty of people around here that buy Coach at Macy's. What other stuff do women fake? I saw someone wearing a tiffany necklace on the train once, not sure if that was real or not. Could be real.. kinda doubtful with all the LV bags being carried on there though
  7. I lost 2 orders in the mail, sending them back for exchange to China. After getting my exchanged watches back from the dealer, both times the orders showed back up at my house marked as undeliverable. Both times the dealer told me he received the watches. Seems kinda odd. The only packages I've ever had gone through were from within the USA. UPS is VERY nosey. One time I ordered a backup device for a console and the guy who delivered it talked to my dad (I was in high school at the time) at his business about the legality of the things a day before he delivered it. It was unopened. The second time they got nosey was when I ordered some trim for my car which were two long pieces of stainless steel, I'd say about 4-5 feet long. They opened the tube and inspected it and put it back in. Why would they need to open something like that? Weird.
  8. That's good to know, I didn't know that guy works on replicas. I believe Shreive sends work to him as well. My dad took his watch to Shreive and then a friend of his told him about the guy upstairs and he took it to him. He ended up going to a jeweler in San Rafael and getting it fixed there and it works perfectly fine now since I haven't heard him say a word about it any more. They replaced some parts in the movement. I'll have to check it out, that guy in particular you are talking about if it is the same guy I'm thinking about has a lot of experience and is highly skilled. There are other places in the bay area that work on replicas, but avoid the one on Broadway in downtown oakland. If you saw what they did to my 42.5mm PO you would probably scream. I need to find someone to re-lume the dial on that watch because of that guy, ripped me off for $50. I didn't ask the place in San Rafael if they work on watches. I was going to ask if they work on ETA but right before I could get the question out of my mouth, the lady there started telling a story about someone who bought a replica and brought it in and they refused to work on it. So I just showed them my Seiko and asked if it was authentic since I got it on Ebay and it was.
  9. My day-date rolex, old version hidden clasp swiss from silix SS is darker than that of most of my other SS watches. I'm guessing it has a lower grade SS in it. Interesting thing about SS, going off topic a little, is that I read it is a purified steel, and it is not magnetic because magnets attract to the impurities in steel. If you get tool grade SS, a magnet typically will stick to it but jewelry grade SS a magnet won't. One problem with this is the old asian (or russian? I dunno where these were made) rolex replicas would fool people because a magnet wouldn't stick to it making you think it is stainless, but after you wear it for a few months the plating wears off and it would turn green. I haven't seen anyone selling these pieces of garbage in years though. I sold mine for $5 shipped to a member of another board for a plating project and I just wanted to get rid of it, bad experience dealing with the Ukranian guy that sold it to me. Interesting that at the time I was finding "swiss replica" sites selling mainly submariners for $1200 and up which now are common to find around $180 or so each and likely in better articulation. I hate how scam sites still mislead people into thinking that there is a such thing as a true "Swiss Rolex replica" when in fact that is completely false and they are all made in Shenzhen/Guangzhou. Interesting too that one reputable dealer on these boards told me that their new rolex models use a "swiss case" and educated as I am, I know exactly what that means so I really don't need to point fingers. Just means that it is the case they use on models they sell with the ETA movement inside. I'm sure the dealer would have told me it was made in china if I needed to ask. If I ever buy a genuine rolex, it will have gold in it. It will at least have a white gold bezel, but it has to have some gold otherwise I can't justify spending that kind of money on a watch (although the gold content in a Rolex is only as valuable as a small fraction of the cost of the watch )
  10. I just like SS and two tone. I wouldn't want to ever get a full yellow gold watch, some reason they seem gaudy to me. I read somewhere that platinum has almost the same tone as SS. White gold imo is best for bezels and not cases and bracelets because it is rhodium plated and when the rhodium wears off, you end up with a very pale yellow colored metal since there really is no such thing as white gold. It's a mixture of gold and other metals.
  11. Everyone at my workplace wearing a rolex have 10 year old watches and never service them. I was told by a jeweler to service my seiko every 3 years even if I don't wear it. I think these people at work with their rolex being too cheap to service them are going to find out pretty soon that their watch doesn't work any more Come to think of it I wonder how much $ it costs to service a watch. My seiko was about $90 on ebay.. I figure if it costs $120 to service it I might as well just import a new one and sell this one as used on ebay.
  12. Omega Planet Ocean. Or some would probably argue that you could get a breitling or an AP offshore. It's all a matter of personal preference. I like the omega PO with orange bezel myself.
  13. Everything looks good apart from the bezel notches on the outside. The bezel on the 4th generation 42.5mm PO looks near identical to the gen. I own a 2nd gen 42.5mm with a similar bezel to this one. What is interesting about the watch in the OP is that it appears to have the correct "ft" font, which everything prior to the 4th gen swiss model lacked. I have forgotten what the proper position of the he valve is. It looks like yours is below the 10 o'clock marker. I forgot if it is suppose to be above or below it, but it definitely is not suppose to be dead on 10 o'clock. You also have the correct style crown. The 4th generation had a 'sunk-in' look to the omega logo which is incorrect and purists were replacing it with a genuine crown. So I'd say if you want it to be "perfect" you could possibly get a 4th generation replica bezel or buy a genuine one from ofrei. Nobody's going to call you out on it though. Overall nice watch, and if it was $65 that was a steal.
  14. Well I'm not tired of either my SMP or PO. What keeps me from buying a gen omega automatic is that although the coaxial movement is supposedly technologically superior to the movement that is in a Rolex, it does not appear to live as long. But I am basing my opinion on one person's watch. A guy at work has an aqua terra which lasted about 3 years before it stopped and he's waiting to go back to hong kong to service it (why that'd be, beats me..I'm sure shreive could service it and there's not only them around here we also have turbillion I know I must've misspelled both their names) People in my office with genuine rolexes have never serviced them and they are over 10 years old (which I think is absurd, if I owned a rolex it would go back in the shop every 3 years to get serviced). These guys are cheap but it looks like Rolex is better. So I just stick with the replicas, they seem to be as good of quality to me although there are differences such as how far under water they could go and minor cosmetic differences. I think that if I did buy that quartz version of the SMP I'd be happy with it still to this day. But it is kind of hard to justify paying $3k for a quartz watch. This hobby is fun until you start buying things and getting the wrong items shipped to you constantly. At least it isn't as big of a hassle as other things in life are. I didn't really mind that aspect of it way too much, most dealers are pretty easy to exchange with. The most fun parts of it for me were: my first order and obtaining the 42.5mm PO with orange bezel. Everything else was kind of a time waster (such as trying to get that "perfect" 16613, I went through about 4 or 5 of those I resold before I ended up with the cleanest version, and later thinking about it figuring out that the "best" 16613 has its deal of flaws as well. at a time, it was said that my 16613 matched the MBW version). Well speaking of the PO, I do have a third one which is like a 2nd generation. It has an incorrect bezel, he valve is in the wrong position, no AR as far as I can remember, the crystal looks domed almost magnifying the entire face of the watch, and there barely is any rehaut at all. With all of its flaws, it is a very beautiful watch anyway and whenever I wear it I get a lot of compliments.
  15. I've beaten it. The problem that I had was at last I was looking for the best quality replicas, the ones that look nearly identical to the real thing. The next problem became that the prices went up from there. They are still out there and I have received emails from dealers about them, but I have replied and said that the watches are too overpriced. Some go clear up to $500 from $200. I've never spent over $225 for one replica watch and even $225 is a lot of money for something that isn't real when you can buy a perfectly fine automatic genuine seiko on ebay for about $100 which is what I did before I got into this. I somehow have my doubts that it costs very much money to build that "super rep". If you're paying $500 for a watch made in shenzhen, how much are the workers being paid. I'm guessing that the guy that designed the rep might be getting a bit of money out of it, but who knows. Seems like the people who run the shops are the top dogs there. I really can't understand paying that kind of money for a replica.
  16. It took me a few weeks before I made my first purchase. My first purchase was with silix and I got a day-date, an airking and a james bond SMP. Those were good buys and I could've just stopped there. After I accumilated 20 watches, I sold half of them and I guess I bought one or two more and then stopped. It is easy to get used to buying one watch per month but after you stop buying, you get used to not buying any more
  17. I've bought from ioffer before, but never a watch. only watch thing I bought was a rolex hologram sticker for $5. Last time I asked the lady who sold it to me, she jacked the price up to $15 and I felt it was unreasonable. the site seems ok but most of their stuff is pretty low end as far as replicas are concerned.
  18. For me, it all came down to figuring out which gen I'd like to buy out of all the reps I own. I finally settled on something most people on here probably wouldn't consider, a quartz SMP. But I never bought it because of financial issues I had last year (well I still have plenty of money and can afford it, but my rep with ETA movement inside which of course is the automatic version does me fine still). So I haven't bought a watch in over a year and I think I may buy a rolex datejust some time in the future depending on how much money I have. They discontinued the omega I was thinking about buying. Also I came on these forums today checking to see if there are any new super reps out. It looks like there haven't been any in 2 or so years, but I'm not sure. Things don't look the same on these forums as they did back then, maybe the economy is to blame? I'm sure you can still buy plenty of $25 rolex reps which are the same as always but after finding ETA models and "super reps", it is very difficult to justify purchase of a low end rep any more. I still have a brand new in cellophane 42.5mm omega planet ocean of the last generation of that super rep (ok I know people will point out that only the 45mm is a super rep but you guys know what I'm talking about, I just forgot which generation the watch I have is..maybe 4th generation). That was so difficult to source that I have never worn it.
  19. Slightly off topic, but is it true that the lowest karat gold sold in the middle east is 18k? That's what a coworker told me, he said you only find 12k and 14k in the USA.
  20. This is why I like to wear the Turn-O-Graph. it has a link that you can quickly flip out and put the watch back on when that happens. When I wear my SMP, I have to wear it loose in the morning because it gets tight by mid afternoon. Well I haven't been into watches in a while but I think the TOG strap is on all datejust models now, I forgot.
  21. That's strange because alcohol and pornography both are against the Moslem religion. So are drugs. It's been said that while the Taliban controlled Afghanistan they didn't have those huge marijuana farms. It wasn't allowed by Bin Laden. But man if you can't access a web site, can't you proxy to it somehow? Or an easier way maybe leave a computer on in the US and remote to it for browsing the web overseas
