  1. Honestly, it's not that big of a deal. If you are trying to pass it off as a gen, put a Gen movement in there because anyone that knows that the real movement has a dagger instead of a needle is going to spot the fake movement anyway.
  2. I just finished installing it. I have no idea what case/crystal I have (Fu, Eddie Lee, Paul, Gen?). It's a great case and it had a great crystal. To be honest at first I couldn't tell a difference. However after wearing the watch around the house (and not under the harsh workbench light), the way it refracts the light is improved! The crystal before also did not have AR, but when light directly hits this crystal, it doesn't seem to be "washed out". I'm not sure if I'm using the correct term, but I think you all know what I mean. I give this crystal Here is the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aKsR6RCSzag Got the light box out. I did no photoshopping at all so here they are, dust and all:
  3. "The material used for the case is truly innovative in the field of fine watch-making: the Panerai composite is a material whose features and performance are exceptional, being practically immutable over time. The result of an electrochemical process of ceramization of the aluminium, this material is harder than the ceramics normally used for cases in watch-making (zirconia), and also harder than metals like steel and titanium, as well as being lighter. Thanks to its qualities of ductility and reliability, the Panerai composite allows for complex and extremely precise workings and is the result of processes that, up to now, were employed in the creation of components for the aeronautic industry and for car and motorcycle races requiring the highest levels of performance."
  4. I think that is an old school EL front load. However the hands look better than the EL hands that shipped with that watch, so it may be a DSN? Not sure.
  5. One buyer for all the hands?! Care to fill us in on who that buyer was?
  6. ETA Cannon pin that has the hand size of an Angelus? Project anyone
  7. Outstanding! Now if I could only afford an Angelus movement
  8. I'm thinking about it, however I'm not sure if his bezel insert looks right. I'd think I'd want to swap it out. Also, the engraving for the Serial number looks off. If I'm going to pay his asking price for a case, I think I'd like the serial number to be better engraved.
  9. His new case sets are horrible. I will not be buying another rep from DSN until he fixes his lugs...horrible. I've got two watches that I can't even fit an OEM rubber to because they lugs are so short...
  10. LOL, same here. They are sitting in my drawer still. I'm waiting on a Rad case to get back from my modder as I'm going to have Merlin install a plexi in the case for me so I was waiting to mail them to him so I could send him everything. However my modder is really busy at the moment and isn't 100% done. I'm tempted to just mail him the dials now so I can finish this watch! Like I said before, the best dial I've seen! You did a GREAT job!
  11. It's not about the materials or movement, it's about the rarity. If you are a passionate collector, then that is what it's about. Would I rather have a 202 or a Pam in house tourby? I'd go with the 202. Any type of collecting is the same way. Look at those Beanie Babies. They were going for really high prices as they were rare and collectible. Something is only worth what someone is willing to pay.
  12. haha, I just noticed something. This is the link for the Panerai section on RWG: http://www.rwgforum.com/forum/144-the-panerai-area/ hah, I guess a second reason for M.M. 144
  13. Sure: New DSN case that's been slightly modded and lugs drilled and between engraved with Brevet + 6152 1 and out of range 124xxx serial number Okabum Spring Bars Jackson Crown Okabum custom brass crown tube Nightwatch caseback with engraving T Gold hands KBiz dial ETA 6498 movement Gen Tropic T24 (not installed yet) Adeeos Ammo strap I'm thinking of installing Okabum's new 1:1 crown, but I really just want to finish this watch and wear it first
  14. Just need to finish up the dial with some help from Merlin. But here is the watch so far (Tropic T24 has not been fitted yet): (I saw VDB made a watch with 144. I did mine because my last name is Gross)
  15. Thanks szvwj, but the spring in question works. Thanks anyway!
  16. So I actually misplaced my 7750 datewheel spring. I ordered a replacement, but it looks nothing like the original. This is for a PAM25A with no day or chrono functions. Here is a picture of what it looked like (notice no day hammer): And here is what I got: It's missing the two crimps in the spring. Is this still okay to install, or is this the wrong part?
  17. Well the rumor was, they were never made, period. The mishap happened during service when the dial was replaced. The Pre-A dials had the same part number as the A-B series dials, so they were put in by mistake. Best mistake they ever did as the fat indices look GREAT with Ti.
  18. The 40b is a cool watch, however the main issue with it straight from DSN is the case lugs. They are a little bit too fat and short, meaning you can't really fit a thick strap or OEM rubber strap as it's so tight. It fits, it's just really tight! I have a 40B, but I changed the dial (I love the pre-a dial) and crown (a must) and modified the CG pin. I'm very happy with the watch, I just wish I had a better case. Here is the watch straight from DSN: And here it is with an upgraded dial from FGD, upgraded crown from T, refinished the CG pin and custom caseback from Jackob: The DSN hands are a bit stronger with the lume, so keep that in mind if you do a dial swap:
  19. That is actually very cool. It's got an A series dial (indices design), but it's an L dial.
  20. That is WAY beyond my skill level. Who can do this type of work? Are you offering this service?
  21. That's great! Love the CP mod!! I have the same mods on my 25A (minus the CP), but I have a question about your gen rubber. Does the strap move freely, or because of the short lugs, does your strap stay snug against the case?
  22. I've seen anywhere from 900-6000. Depends on if the person knows about PAMs
  23. Very nice. His new crown guards have bushings installed so there is no need for a hot glue fix. Plus with a Spring loaded CG, it's nice and tight.
  24. I ordered a T48SL .9mm. However if you get the swiss, you can't get the spring loaded crown because the swiss movement (I THINK) has a 1.2mm thread stem and currently T doesn't make crowns that fit.
  25. I don't mind, this is good info and if it can be done, I'd like to know about it
