  1. Welcome to our wonderful community.

I found out abt the hi-quality reps quite a while back but when I stumbled upon this place abt a year back, a whole new world opened up. The modding possibilities are insane.

The only limitations are the size of your wallet and your mental state of mind at that point in time. Hardcore passion is all I can say.

  2. Thanks for all the input guys.. and yes Coolfire, I will probably get it.

I am looking at getting a 7753 Hamilton or Victorinox for this project.

@The Zigmeister - I have EL day;ight case, I am under the impression that Eddie Lee's Daylight is the most accurate will be perfect to accept a 7753 movt. Hope that's the case.

@chrgod - thanks for the directions.

@denise - we are serious watch ppl here ;) ... hahaha. I watched Trading Places a couple of times. That's the E.Murphy and D Ackroyd movie isn't it?

    Have a good weekend all....

  3. Hi Guys,

Need some help here. I m assembling a PAM 250. I have the old case and Lello DW and am now procuring a 7753 powered Hammy. Getting to be very rare.

So I'd really appreciate some indications of how much I should be paying for such a donor watch.

My Chinese dealer is quoting USD600.00 for the movement only which I think is rather steep when I am not too sure if I gonna get the real stuff.

    Thanks in advance.

    Cheers

  4. Man... that's awesome work Rob. Speechless.

My fiddy's in pieces right now. Dial wont fit the case. Seeing yours just reminded me how much I miss mine. And that movement....what a looker.

    Cheers

  5. Well, as has been posted by our resident movement experts, a serviced Asian 7750 should provide the same quality of service as a serviced ETA 7750.

The choice usually comes down to how cheap you can get the ETA 7750. Today, they are running north of $500 which makes servicing the Asian one a more economical option IMO....

A 7753 is a rare item to find these days and if you do find one, you are likely in the neighborhood of $1K in a donor watch....

Holy Crap.... USD 1K for a 7753 powered watch... that's blardy steep.

  6. First off... Congrats on the Explorer II. It a beauty and will no doubt give you years of enjoyment.

I understand your feeling and agree with all the observations made by the other members. A Gen will be a Gen. Can't compare it to a rep. But the beauty of this rep hobby and the satisfaction you derive is one of a kind. With Gens, its all about how much money you have and how much money u willing to spend. Reps on the other hand is about the hunt... hunt for parts, looking out for modders, the thrill of coming back home to a package and of coz the community of watch fanatics that never seem to need sleep (somebody is always online...).

There will always be something that u can takeaway from a conversation with a rep collector. With most gen collectors, its always about their next purchase. It gets tiring sometimes...

So dont worry too much about it.... its just normal.

  7. Ordered some Omega parts from him early this month. Shipped 2 days after payment was made.

In fact the parcel spent more time in my local customs than it did in transit. Guess the availability of the parts plays a part in their response time. Might be beginner's luck as well.

    Cheers
