  1. Thank you so much for the advice!!!! I'm seriously considering making this my first jump into repairing/modding a watch. I am a little nervous about it but you make it sound like it's not that hard!!! Thanks so much for the advice...I've sourced the part numbers from Ofrei so now it's just doing the actual work. I talked to a repair guy from a board but he said he's never done the epoxying mod etc....so I'm wondering if I should just do it myself.
  2. I know this would be tough to answer for someone else, but how hard of a "mod" do you think this would be? Does the movement need to be fully removed? I don't have any experience with movements but I'm decent with my hands and small electronics. I can remove the caseback and see thr threads for the crown but how much deeper will I need to be for the tube epoxy?
  3. Thank you so much! That's exactly what I needed. Thank you for taking the time
  4. I'm just trying to get my info in order....So if I order the crown and the crown tube from ofrei...that will come with everything needed to repair the stripped part that I'm having troubles with right now? And also there will have to be modifications to get it to fit? I couldn't just take it to a [rep friendly] watchsmith in town and he screws it in?
  5. I tried looking in the forums but I'm running out and I wasn't able to find it yet I have a stripped crown (won't screw down) contacted one of our repair guys and he said I will have to source a crown and crown tube. I was wondering if someone could point this out on ofrei that knows. I guess I'd need the gen crown and crown tube and do I need anything else? Is the part with the threads going to come on the crown? I know this might need a little work to get these gen parts on my ETA 2824-2. Thank you SO much in advance you guys are awesome.
  6. I have the exact same problem on my franken UPO. I bought mine from another member and I know some of the mods but I cannot remember if the crown is gem or not (but I believe it's not gen). But in any case I've emailed someone so that I can try to get it repaired. Can anyone estimate cost to fix?
  7. Cracked it open tonight since it was bugging me...it's a 2824-2.
  8. I'm sorry and I don't mean to hijack the thread, I've been away from the rep scene a while (job stuff) and just getting back into it. I have a slightly Franken UPO myself I bought off another member. Long story short is the crown is stripped and will not screw in still winds and sets time but won't stay in. Obviously unacceptable. I don't know the best way to repair/replace this. So if anyone has advice on that I'd appreciate it! Also my main ? Is does anyone know of another caliber ETA besides the 2824-2 in any UPOs? As I said I bought mine used and it's been tough tracking down the original info...so I'm not sure which manufacturer/factory it's from I have a lot of work in front of me! Thanks so much in advance
  9. Hey all, So I'm just wondering if anyone has seen or thinks that any of the dealers will have the John Lennon special edition Montblanc pens ( http://stories.montblanc.com/2010/09/montblanc-presents-john-lennon-edition-writing-instrument/ ) I think they're very nice looking pens and being a die-hard Beatles fan I couldn't resist asking about them. Anyone else heard anything?
  10. I have an SMP that has a working movement but I need a new bracelet for it and the cost just isn't worth it and I know if an asian 21j movement breaks its pretty much just buy a new replacement watch so I thought someone might have a broken SMP lying around they might want to dump off. PM me and let me know if you have a broken SMP or a bracelet that you'd like to get rid of.
  11. I've seen this band live. They're a lot of fun. They do these home video's for their music videos and theyre always crazy and they do them in the live shows too (not the one with the treadmills). But definitely fun to see.
  12. Just wondering if anyone knows of a dealer selling the white faced panerai's in 44mm? I really like these because they're different and I'd be interested in picking one up. I looked through my catalog and here's an example of 2 models that I like. Anyone know any dealers? The models are 049 or the 114 (or any equivalent).
  13. I've been debating buying one of these for a while now and I really love this watch but I was concerned it would be too small for my tastes. I really like the big ol' PO and my Pam. But PT's looks good. I was looking through PTs section but didn't see this watch there, whats PT charging for the 007?
  14. I watched it and I definitely agree with you on those things. Especially Mir...when he walked in I couldn't believe what I was looking at. He mentioned needing to get his confidence back but I think he needs to get his big butt on a treadmill. That guy Christison is not at all a good fighter....he has no heart as evident from the show and the only reason he's there is that he's freakishly large. For Mir to put on that kind of a performance against that guy, and the last fight was terrible as well! I think UFC was trying to fast track him back into the heavy weight ranks but that is definitely not happening. Edwards was great as always but that cut was pretty bad, one of the more bloody fights that I've seen....I still wish he won though as I'm not a huge Stevenson fan...but props to him on winning. Ortiz v Shamrock went just as I thought but I wish it could have gone a little longer....Ortiz was in excellent shape and was a completely different fighter from when he fought Forrest (thank goodness). The Arlovski Sylvia fight was terrible and I cannot believe Arlovski didn't shoot in or at least continue with the leg kicks but I don't normally like the heavyweight fights for that reason anyways but I wish that had only gone 3 rounds. I'm looking forward to Chucks next fight...should be a good match.
  15. Which watch does she have on there (model I mean) is it the same one that's on the top of this post? It looks different to me but it's not a real close up. Also what size is that? I think a PAM would look amazing on a woman but a 44mm might be a little too big no?
