  1. Sounds ominous- you're not going to take out a hit on him, are you?? -O
  2. I know The Zigmeister was on hiatus from RWG1, and he said he was not coming back, but he is there now. Did any of the mods here offer him a personal invite to the new and improved site?? He is a valuable asset wherever he is. Forgive me if anyone else asked this before. -O
  3. Helium valve on different sides for SS non 'Pro' version and Ti 'Pro' version. ETA Power resernve movment would work, but crown location would be a problem in a rep. I have wanted this one since it first came out. Almost ready to buy gen. -O
  4. This is one of a series of 'one of these things isnt like the others' type adds they are placing, the general theme being that it is not fun being treated like an outsider/ not kind to treat an insider poorly. Seeing as there are about 4 different versions I have seen (yellow chicks/ duckling was one of them) I don't think this was a specific assault on the Danes. -O
  5. would like one Thanks for all you hard work here. -O
  6. The reset mechanism on the chronos notoriously was unable to find zero, and the hand was frequently loose on the pinion which made matters worse. The chrono engagement is a lever type, not a column wheel, and the lever frequently got hung up, making it impossible to stop the chronos at times. The Zigmeister and I had a back and forth about this when the 196 first came out. The new ones appear to be mostly bulletproof as the Swiss. -O
  7. My concerns about the 7750's chronos referred specifically to the initial batch (which wound up in 196s etc...) and if I understand correctly, it is this 1st gen movement which found its way into the pam50 reps. Without the chronos, they should pose no problems. -O
  8. When the Asian 7750 movement was reviewed, quite extensively by The Zigmeister, he found that the chronograph portion of the movement was the unreliable part, and that the regular timekeeping portion of the watch was fine and would remain reliable if the chronos were not utilized. If we assume that this is the case, the watches that use this movement without implementing the chrono functions should, in theory at least, be fine. I will be ordering a sub in the next few weeks- have not decided which yet. -O
  9. I shoot a Canon 20D (which I love BTW), but the clincher for me is the Tamron 28-70 zoom with a 2.8 aperture through its range. This lense is the bargain of the universe- I have a 2000 dollar canon L glass zoom, which I no longer use because the Tamron (about 350 on line) is as clear and weighs about a third as much. You should really look into this lens whether you are shooting Canon or Nikon- It is really good. -O BTW there may be steep discounts available on the Minolta products as they recently announced they are leaving the camera business altogether. Sony is purchasing many of their products and patents.
  10. Ok- you marry her, she gets green card. Russian mob kills you. Drops your body into a drainage ditch after chopping it up into little pieces. Next thing you know, hot Russian chick is wearing a really good Swiss 196 rep & driving your car. No thanks... -O
  11. Well the 'twins' thing increases desirability exponentially. -O
  12. This is exciting. Nice job on the setup. Congrats!! I for one do NOT miss the Christmas motif. -O (N&I)
