  1. Fantastic, and more congratulations from here too! To be able to be so proud of your son, and for a son to be able to make his old man so proud, is a wonderful thing.
  2. And apologies...tomorrow is how long it took me to reply! (sometimes I think there is a detector in my chair linked to a buzzer and flashing light in the baby's room, I sit down, "waaaaaaaa"). Aye, joint winners on that one I think - it could be a lot of things, couldn't it? But the answer was 'tomorrow'. WINNERS! Again, this is a bit different: John F Kennedy was the youngest person elected to the presidency. How did it come about that he was the second-youngest man to hold this office?
  3. Let's just say I had a hunch. The avatar helped. Very cool! Ah, 1975. The haircuts. The shoes. The troosers. WINNER! Not quite! I was a bit wee for The Who concerts in 1975. Still, I did a fine job of raging around, screaming at the top of my lungs and smashing stuff up. So maybe in spirit I was there. This is a bit different: Often talked of, never seen, Ever coming, never been, Daily looked for, never here, Still approaching, coming near. Thousands for it's visit wait But alas for their fate, Tho' they expect me to appear, They will never find me here. What is the poem about? And no, it's not my ex's libido.
  4. A man of few words....WINNER! Does anyone even care why c was right? No? Okay, moving on... Barney Dribble is carrying a pillow case full of feathers. Hardy Pyle is carrying three pillow cases the same size as Barney's, yet Hardy's load is lighter. How can this be?
  5. Well fine sir, for you we have...two tickets... And, of course, had you actually got the answer right, I would have also given you the Tardis that goes with them! And to Pugwsh, the Tardis. Well almost... Because glass conducts heat poorly, the thicker glass starts expanding unevenly, one side faster than the other. While I find another question, this one is still out there. It's even multiple choice. And it's not (a). Under what conditions would a rope be most likely to break? a. 20 men of equal strength with 10 pulling on each end. b. 10 of the same men pulling on one end and the other end being fastened to a tree. c. It makes no difference
  6. YES!! WINNER!! "a" wasn't the answer to the other one. If boiling water is poured into a thick drinking glass as well as a very thin wine glass, of the two, which is more likely to crack? Explain.
  7. (OT: Ach, what a shite day... ) Here's a different question: Rachel was sun bathing at a nude beach because she heard it was the best way to acquire an overall tan. Day after day she was out lying in the sun, yet couldn't manage the complete tan. What could she be doing wrong to prevent her from receiving the even tones she so desired?
  8. That is a teaser! Crikey - a lot going on here. @irongambit - YES TENNIS!! WINNER!! @Pugwash - YES - the whole rhyme thing. I'm just reading the card. WINNER!! Under what conditions would a rope be most likely to break? a. 20 men of equal strength with 10 pulling on each end. b. 10 of the same men pulling on one end and the other end being fastened to a tree. c. It makes no difference
  9. You're on the right track here.
  10. Nup. We'll keep that on the go, and introduce a new one: Which one of the following four words does not belong to this group, and why? ORIOLE ORANGE MONTH OIL
  11. Thanks for the great holiday pics!! Like the Audi too!
  12. Like it. Not quite there yet though...
  13. Nice thinking - but it's not quite right.
  14. It's a mystery!
  15. HEY, HEY RWGII RETURNS DOWN UNDER!! You have no idea how much work I have got done! John and Andy were professional golfers and keen rivals. One day during a game, they had each scored 30 when Andy hit a bad shot. John immediately added 10 to his score. John then hit a good shot and he won the game. Why?
  16. Yes - let's keep our politicians DRUNK!! CONGRATS @ irongambit; of course he was a window washer and jumped into the building. This is easy.... When can you add two to eleven and get one as the correct answer?
  17. Too, too sharp!! WINNER!! Mel N Colly stared though the soot-smeared window on the 26th floor of the office tower. Overcome with depression he slid the window open and jumped through it. It was a sheer drop outside the building to the ground. Miraculously after he landed he was completely unhurt. Since there was nothing to cushion his fall or slow his descent, how could he have survived?
  18. I don't even think he needs to drive forward again - he just reverses! WINNER!! By the way this is an open game - nobody is hijacking it by asking questions, it's just a laugh. Go for it! Personally I'm quite pleased to be using these board game cards that have sat in a cupboard for five years! There is a town in Australia where 5% of all the people living in the town have ex-directory phone numbers. If you selected 100 names at random from the town's phone directory, on average, how many of these people selected would have ex-directory phone numbers?
  19. But then has he travelled a full mile, if he was pointed north and then drove over the pole?
  20. My wife is fine with watches - in fact she's quietly relieved... It's the enormous replica Cherished Teddy® collection she's worried about: I'm sitting in a bar with four buddies and one guy calls out "Hey, look," pointing at the two hundred Cherished Teddies lined up on the bar, "we all have Cecilia: You Pull My Heartstrings!" That was, like, sooooo embarrasing. It's important to keep that overall air of coolness with Cherished Teddies. EDIT: Up for trades with expensive ETA watches, naturally!
  21. Well, I'll let Melvin call it, but it looks good, and it sounds good! The Amazing Dave, the famous magician, claims that when he is in the far north, he can point his car north on an ordinary road, drive it for one mile, and without turning around, end up one mile south of where he started. How does he do it? :sorcerer: EDIT:spelling
  22. Ooh, good question!! I won't answer it - it would be cheating (it's one of the questions on the cards here). But I can say that by 'timepiece' it just means an object we use for time-keeping.
  23. Now, I wanna know - what neat toys?!
  24. Looks awesome. And yes, nine o'clock!! WINNER! Okay one for me to sign off for the night.... Harry Plum, a fruit farmer from Georgia, was waging war against the blackbirds constantly sampling his cherry crop. One day Harry noticed 16 blackbirds dining on his favourite cherry tree. Determined to teach the birds a lesson they wouldn't soon forget, he got out his shotgun and blasted away at them. Although Harry only managed to hit one of the birds, he did succeed in blowing it clean out of the tree. How many birds are now left in the tree?
