Because when I pay a high price for a 'useless' item it can tend to breed contempt for the item
Are you a divorce lawyer?
Joking. The price of the watch has absolutely no bearing on how I feel about it after a few weeks. Because objectively they're all watches that fit on my wrist, look good, and tell the time - so the gap between them is smaller than their price might suggest (that's not to ignore why some are better than others, just that the price itself isn't something that influences it). I haven't worn my most expensive watch in ages.
That being said (to get a bit more back on topic), if you are actually about to dive 3800m and want to rely on a mechanical dive watch, I probably wouldn't cheap out on it

I hadn't finished. Worthy.......of consideration for STAGE 2 of testing!

Is it just me, but if you look really closely, but does the Nastymariner have a teeny little smudge near 5 o'clock? Fingerprint? So hard to tell. It's like an imperceptible, delicate blemish.

This year I was able to trade for one of my dream brands/watches. A Glashutte Original. As often can happen though, I find it more of a box beauty queen that I get more fun out of photographing than wearing. I plan to have her for sale soon.
The Glashutte looks SO GOOD!!
That's the way to do it. Love it. Get it out of the box and onto the wrist again!! Rediscover the love!
I have a plan for Nanuq's next watch. It needs to be a gen Doxa, but not a normal one.
One that was a scuba find on the sea bed.
But not a normal Doxa find on the sea bed, one that has bear claw scratches on the crystal.
But not a normal Doxa with bear claw scratches on the crystal that's found on the sea bed.
One where the owner was eaten by a shark.
But not a normal bear-clawed shark-eaten Doxa found on the sea bed, one that then also went through the digestive system of an orca......and then fell into a tectonic steam vent.....
Then, just then, it's worthy....

I believe Miss Understood moved to Only Fans (succulentsalmon?) where she's a millionaire....
More seriously, forums and the open web have so much competition from aggregators and apps (reddit and so on), and dealers are all over social media and SEO - fewer people start out on any forum to begin with.Which is a shame, because they miss out on there being nicer corners of the internet
I'm gearing up for my first rep buy in years, so dusting down the saddle, and by "saddle" I mean look forward for my inevitable post bitching that all of the TD contact details on the forum are years out of date.

Aargh, stop showing me watches I NEED!!!!
All of those are top class.I'm looking at those Maranez watches, very interesting. There are a couple speaking to me.
-
Oh my....
What a catch.
-
Do you have a grail watch? Something that speaks to you in a way that's beyond the rational?
Or a favoured rep that needs to be the real deal?
-
Arguably it could be to do with fewer flights flying at the moment, maybe. I haven't seen other delivery charges go up though.
No need to triangulate here - as long as you're not trying to post a banana, fruit or vegetable, it seems to be fine. (Other TDs aren't charging this much right now, obviously they win on that front). -

And I broke the weak-ass pansy fricken cheap wussy miniature godforsaken stinking stem inside the crown.
Noooooo.
I wouldn't be surprised at all if the International Seismological Centre recorded that howl of agony.

the travesty is that I seem to have lost my Rolexes including a gen 5512 and a Ubi 6263. Will keep looking although if my ex found them first they’re gone.
Ouch x10.

Ah - to work on these particular watches you need to take a slow, deep breath.....of Heliox Helium Oxygen mix. 🤿

The exchange rate has been a killer these past few months, less so now - who knows next week!! But still US$55 postage is mental even in US$.
-
Welcome back!!
-
Hahahahahahahahaha......USD55 actual dollars to post a watch.
FIFTY FIVE DOLLARS.
A watch.
In local currency that's AU$80 for postage right now.
There are literal crack dealers that can't get away with that for postage. (But I'm not quite that desperate to be able to tell the time, if anything I already have far, far to many watches for the number of arms I have.... )
I can only assume he was once molested by a koala at a petting zoo or something. Or has some kind of Liam-Neeson-Taken-style vendetta on letting Australians catch trains and buses on time.

This is fantastic. What craft to be able to do that.
The watch story was good, bonus drink recommendation was even better!! Interesting, they do sell it near me, but very expensive.

Marooned anywhere good?
Jetmid has not yet returned, but the nightwatch continues...

Very cool - something seems extra great about bare feet or flip flops at midnight too. Chef's kiss.
It makes me think how people further north (or south) must have made sense of the world in a very different way from near the equator. An imagined deity from near the arctic circle would be viewed as quite the ass clown down by the equator, or vice versa.

A glass of Linie Aquavits is on the way to you, I gave the cask a slap on the ass, and sent it back to Norway again
(To the uninitiated, it's a drink that they send to Australia to mature in the cask and then it goes back again)
