  1. i have what may or may not be a closed factory black smp. doesn't really matter to me as it runs dead on and has the correct HE valve placement and long hands and great lume. as soon as the new insert i got off the 'bay arrives (over three weeks of seller forgetting to ship, grrrrr) it's headed out for a gen tube and crown it has a great di modell chroossimo strap on it, but i really am more of a bracelet guy. i was thinking of contacting joshua (my regular dealer) about getting a speedy bracelet but am a little concerned that it might not fit? joshua sells the black smp with the speedmaster style bracelet and i would hope the case is not different, but have no idea? has anyone tried it?? thanks in advance
  2. it almost seems brand specific? the breit bentley a few of us reported was gone in less than 12 hours. but i've seen 3-4 really bad rep planet oceans finish at over $2000US? maybe breitling and rolex cooperate with ebay on fakes and panerai and others do not? if you read the fine print on the reporting page it does say something about their needing the cooperation of the effected company?
  3. i got a perfect one from josh and ended up selling it. i do kind of look for it in my watch box occasionally but don't really miss it. i had the same problem with it i had with my latest best vc overseas. both were just too far to the dress end of the sports/dress spectrum for me i'm a diver/tool watch guy. every time i've tried a dressier watch, gen or rep i've sold it. i've had a few stunning and rare high beat movement king seiko's and sealions and a couple dress/sport vintage seamasters and they just sit while divers and g-shocks and pams get worn. the only dressy watch i've ever managed to keep is the white dial 2892 fm conquistador. probably because it's kind of funky/silly and hard to take seriously i'm anxiously awaiting word on the chopard mille miglia from josh (he says early march and from the hublot bb and steelfish factory) and hoping it will be the dress/sport watch i am looking for. the ingy was an amazing rep. if you like dress/sport watches go for it. you will love it!
  4. i have a friend with a U1, a stunner! i like the GMT even better wear it in good health!
  5. 5218-201a back to base(ics) B)
  6. i'm in for one with no complaining no one i know will have ever seen one and i'm just going to put it on one of the bond natos i have laying around and use it for a fun beater!
  7. i guess we are supposed to believe that between september and now it kept running from thursday till monday? if it sounds like a troll and posts like a troll (or a 12 year old) well...
  8. since i stoopidly sold my seawolf i suppose one of these is a must have just need to decide between black or blue, and convince myself the chopard MM is not worth waiting for!
  9. i just looked on ebay and watchco appears to have dozens of nos dials? in more color combos than i could keep track of. the burgandy with gold is actually kind of cool does anyone know if these will fit the reps?? i might buy a dial just in case i decide on a rep...
  10. 440 (mostly 440c) is used in lots of low to medium end knives. generally even the very good stainless steels like hitachi ats-34 and 154cm and d2 (a 'near' stainless) and bg-42 have been superseded by the cpm (crucible particle materials) 'super steels'; s30v, s60v and s90v in higher quality knives. afaik, rolex is the only maker to use 904 and that's mostly for the shine. omega, breitling, iwc use 316l for their ss sports watches.
  11. no, joshua's pams use typical 'rep lume'. afaik davidsen is the only source for pams with real lum.
  12. joshua is great and i've bought over a dozen watches from him. i'm wearing an ultimate p.o. from him right now. but my davidsen 5218 is better than any pam i have bought from any other dealer. far better lume (far better) and no recessed canon pinion and great fit and finish.
  13. i have worn 43-44mm seiko divers on nato styyle straps and on a plain nato i've never liked the 'look'. i do have a 3 ring martac zulu on the way that i plan to try on my 45mm p.o. they are much thicker and beefier with much beefier hardware and (IMHO) a better choice for any big watch
  14. note to self: do not ever buy a watch from pug he could probably make this (genuine) look brand new!
  15. this is certainly true. in fact sometimes it's not even like a transaction at all! i just regret that instead of bothering to pay return postage i had done something useful with the DOA noobmariner LV... like leaving it as a tip for a particularly discourteous and distracted waiter. who brought me the wrong entree, and spilled hot coffee in my lap. at least then i would have had the pleasure of witnessing his befuddlement
  16. seller has never SOLD a single item only 7 feedbacks no watches anyone who has ever seen a p.o. in person should instantly recognize that the bracelet clasp is totally wrong? this almost fits in the 'if the price seems too good to be true, then it is' category.
  17. they look like shill bidders anyway...
  18. probably not practical because of the big date, but wow!
  19. grip here's what it comes down to: if you get a perfect watch, with no problems, and it runs good any dealer is fine. but these are reps and the quality control leaves something to be desired. it can be a crap shoot. what makes the difference is, what a dealer does if there is a problem. i bought the LV noobmariner from neil because it was an impulse purchase. i have a thoroughly modded modern sub already. but i had never even seen an LV in person and have a lot of black bezel dive watches (rep and gen). it was getting great reviews and was just over $100US and neil was the ONLY dealer who had them. so even though i had read a lot of posts about problems i took a chance. my mistake. if you do some searches here i don't think you will find a single post that says "i have had this problem with joshua for 4 months and it has not been resolved and he has not contacted me". there are other dealers who are the same way. you will find a number of posts about neil stating that. i am far from the only person who has been waiting months for a watch from neil. i'm reasonably confident i will eventually get my watch. which i will just have to flip as i traded for another in the mean time. but opening the mailbox with even the faint hope every single day for months sucks i don't know of any watch that neil has an exclusive on right now? pretty much anything he has should be available from joshua or andrew or PT or...
  20. following neil's rules and doing everything right is no guarantee of success. i've been collecting reps for a while. have bought between 15 and 20 reps (afraid to count!!) from various dealers. i know the drill. i've been waiting since september 18th (payment) for a working LV noobmariner from neil. yes, a lot has happened and circumstances and and and... but that's unacceptable. my new ultimate p.o. from joshua took 6 days from payment my best advice is: find a different dealer. period.
  21. one of my favorite dive watches of all time! thanks for sharing it
  22. saw this on another forum and thought i would share http://militarywatch2.monsite.orange.fr/page3.html
  23. i would say, if you are a sports watch guy a sub. a dress watch guy a datejust. like em or not both are iconic.
  24. that looks like it. here's the sellers pics i wonder if the speedy bracelet from the current reps will fit?
  25. first my black (the right choice!) 45mm ultimate p.o. arrived this week. it's plus 4 seconds since thursday afternoon and actually fits my small wrist well. everything that everyone says about this rep is correct. on mine the 6:00 marker is a tiny bit off but not nearly enough to send it back to my dealer since i'm not a really huge omega fan i figured this one would do it for me. i've had a gen and 4 reps and this seemed like it would do it. then yesterday by pure dumb luck i scored a legendary closed factory black SMP from a member here i don't really like the blue SMP's (that's why i sold my gen) and i had the new black SMP but the one i had had some issues and had to go back to my dealer so i figured my only shot at ever having the black was a gen. yippee!!!!!!!! it needs a new insert and i've already ordered one of the 'bay (gen bezels at frei are a big ouch! and does not have the bracelet. but is coming with a di model waterproof chronissimo in black with white stitching that is a perfect compliment to the watch. i may contact one of our dealers about the 20m rubber p.o. strap to see if it will fit or shop for a black shark with white stitching so i can use one of the deployments i have laying around. it's not even in the mail yet and i already can't wait pictures of my ultimate p.o. and it's cooler older brother to come later in the week...
