he tried, i just said NO it would be funny how this all pops up so regularly, if it was not so sad. this is probably why he spent so much time on the dark side. fresh (and ignorant of his history) meat he has also massively screwed over a couple of the very large and very well known dealers. had watches shipped direct to himself for customers. then screwed them up in his attempts at modding then blamed the dealer and threated to tell the customer unless he got replacement parts for those he had damaged. all anyone has to do his read his post where some poor fool let him work on a gen rolex movement and he basically said "i know what all these little doohickeys and doodads do but i don't know the names and i don't need to" then compare that to The Zigmeister's movement reviews...

all joe cost me was 2-3 months of not having my no-date sub... and postage there, and postage back i consider myself lucky!

afaik the 2824 would not be big enough. this is a really large watch and the date window is way out there but my $120 cheapie asian version had a nice smooth sweep...

accepted and appreciated this place is very different from RWI. i've been on watch forums since early 2000 and the rep forums for a couple years. RC, RWG one etc. beside SCF this is the best i've found. it's nicer here. the information is generally more accurate and people are more friendly. pug is a friend and andreww's podcasts are very cool and a great contribution to the forums. watching them (and others...) banned by a crazy person who contributes nothing but incoherent babbling pisses me off

you have no idea what or who i'm talking about. therefore you have no idea what you are talking about. slander? who? buy a legal dictionary with the money you have saved by not bothering to become a paid member here

i agree completely. if the admin team lets loose cannons edit posts and ban contributing (and productive) members in a totally capricious and arbitrary manner than that's what they get. when they started making newbies with a month on the board mods and letting them run roughshod over long term members the handwriting was on the wall. if they want a private club, cool. just don't take my money to fund it as i said before 90% or more of the posts there are useless drek nowdays. personally i would not even want to see most of them here. their "oh we are the dark side" zeitgeist reeks of the mall ninja attitude that's ruined a lot of the knife collector forums... what has klink EVER posted ANYWHERE that is 1% as valuable as pug's photo tutorials???

i really don't think you are missing much. i seldom even check in there more than once a week now. 99% of the posts seem to be noobs posting "i am going to buy this" or "i just bought this" or noobmoderators posting the same almost zero real content...

my asian movement cheapie from ttk had an engraved rotor and a very, very smooth sweep. and killer AR and the dial and hand lume matched well but a white datewheel...

seiya and katsu have them for about $425US shipped. retail is 63,000y (about $528US) so i would not expect them to come down much. lee at chrono.com is at $485US. from what i've heard they will probably continue to be japan models as part of the prospex line, but are not any kind of limited edition. it seems the 6R is the new workhorse movement so they will be available and could certainly start showing up on the bay? but the ti sammys were never much cheaper on the bay (if any) than from saiya or higuchi or reto at PMWF

my first love in watch collecting and what got me in to it was seiko. before that a timex indiglo or a department store g-shock was fine, when i bothered to wear a watch. then i bought a kinetic seiko on ebay and found the seiko forum while looking for instructions on how to size the bracelet well 93 watches (according to my spreadsheet) later i finally had an excellent version of everything i wanted. 6105 and 6309 and 6306 vintage divers. a 40th anniversary diver (one of 2004 made). a marine master 300m and a couple of my favorite 6138 chronographs. so i got bored and ended up discovering reps. and it's been fun. i've met some great guys here and bought and sold a lot of cool watches. then last year seiko introduced a new movement. the 6R, that hand winds and hacks! the only hacking seiko divers movements were the old 6105b and the 6306 (in a very, very rare japan only watch) and the 8L movement in the marine master. and handwinding was even less common. just the marine master and a couple dress watch movements used on the mid size and boys size 2205 and 4205 divers. according to tokunaga-san (who designed all the classic and most modern seiko dive watches) it was because the magic lever was so efficient at winding there was no need. so the 6R came out in some pretty, but small, dress watches and was a hit. but i'm not a dress watch guy. but now they have gone and done it. a stunning new 45mm diver with the 6R movement at a reasonable price. just over $400. exactly what seikoholics have been begging for. there was really nothing between the $100-$200 monsters and 007's etc and the marine master at $1500+ but now there is, dammit. the SBDC001. also available in a blue dial and an orange dial. damn them anyway, there goes my rep money for a couple months http://www.network54.com/Forum/78440/message/1176392053/

heaven forbid he turns out crap besides doubling the price overnight, with no changes to the product, in an attempt to move upmarket and his well documented legal issues with his uber commando mall ninja pesona this is the kind of product he produces. this pic is from the kobold web page. the watches were sold like this...

dang i didn't really see it as a big moral issue. but i do agree it's just plain tasteless. i'm more bothered by yet another spoiled rich kid (see kobold) getting into the watch business

my asian version (from mr grumpy pants ) arrived two days ago. it's been in the shower just fine, is running +8 seconds and looks great. it does have a noisy rotor, but the rotor is huge and it does have a display back. yeah i wish it had a black datewheel, but paying $200 more for a black date wheel and stick on lettering on the rotor and still only getting an asian movement did not make much sense to me only bummer is i think it's actually too big for me... -
been looking thru pics from basel on the various forums the yachtie II is just fugly. the omega with sapphire windows on the case i don't get. ditto with a dozen limited edition anniversary speedmasters? but this is just strange IMHO and it appears there is even an ampersand on the tourbillon. huh? Bell & Ross joined forces with leading Swiss master watchmakers to create this extraordinary movement in a state-of-the-art timepiece. Without deviating from the brand

i wonder if it is somehow connected to this: http://blog.photobucket.com/blog/2007/04/b...ing_news_p.html -
sorry but i could not disagree more. many of the closest friendships i have developed over the years on all the different forums i am on started with a sale. or negotiating a sale. or even a sale that didn't happen. i later introduced one friend that i met on a knife forum just that way to the woman who became his wife

i'll bet the bronze bezel/bronze dial is a stunner i've been drooling over the copper/bronze dial sinn's for quite some time now
