  1. OK, I'm not that much of a dork or a noob but i'm stumped. I just got a truly stunning black SMP from Joshua with the correct Speedy style bracelet and it has has me stumped? I've sized every Seiko bracelet and Pam reps, and Subs and GMT's and a screw link SMP GMT and my P.O.'s and a VC Overseas and a Conquistador and even a Tag Link but all I've done so far is scratch this one It seems to use pins and not screws (good) but there are no arrows to show which way the pins go out and I experimented with my screw/pin tool and could only get one pin part way out??? I'd really have to wait and take it to a watchmaker tomorrow for a simple bracelet adjustment
  2. Sweet!!!!!!!!!!! I'm not a big AP fan, but at 42mm or so with an ETA I'd buy one
  3. Silix has one I think and I 'might' have seen one at Watch Honpo? If we could get a regular Aquatimer with good 12:00 markers or this one I would be sooooo on it!
  4. You give Americans far too much credit. Four liter engines are normally found in mid-size trucks and SUV's here. I ride my bicycle from work to a local cafe every day at lunch and watch a parade of 120lb women driving 5000lb+ SUV's with 7 liter (and larger) gas engines the 1/2 mile or maybe 1 mile from their offices to the cafe for their triple non-fat decaf vanilla latte :yucky: I am an American and was born in California and am proud of a lot of what America has done, but a huge percentage of our population are ignorant, wasteful, clueless pigs. And the drunken frat boy in the White House tells them all that global warming is a myth...
  5. I've had pretty much every Seiko diver fromthe 6217/MAS thru a number of 6105's and 6309's and still have a few, including a Marine Master. The Samurai is an awesome watch and a great value for the $$. The SS and ti Sammy's are part of the Prospex line and the overall fit and finish and build quality is just a bit better than standard Seiko. Personally I like the crown guards and the nicer hands on the ti version better then the SS. Here's a pic of my blue ti Sammy (I believe it was around $300 from Reto at PMWF?) before I sold it to fund my MM
  6. I just made the decision this week after selling my Tag Link GMT and went for... the black dial/bezel SMP from Joshua I had a 4th gen P.o. and really liked it a lot but the watches I tend to keep and really wear are almost always classics. Sub, GMT II, Seawolf Avenger and my vintage Seiko 6105 and 6309 divers. The P.O. may become a classic someday but (IMHO) the black SMP already is
  7. That is just an insult to trailer trash everywhere
  8. Actually the very nice bracelet was the big draw for me too! I wanted another (roughly) 40mm watch on a nice bracelet for wearing on hot days here. I really liked the IWC Aquatimer I had, but it had some issues and it seems almost all of them have crooked/offest 12:00 markers so I sold it. I also tried Joshua's newest VC Overseas, but the white dial was too dressy for me. I've never been a huge Tag fan but the GMT with the brushed bracelet and case and the polished bezel seems to be a really good mix of sporty and dressy Pics to follow as soon as it arrives!
  9. Thanks for another great review! I just ordered the black dial ETA GMT Link from Joshua Monday, I can't promise as great a review but will post some pics as soon as it arrives
  10. I'm just not a fan of three register chronographs. I have a couple restored Seiko 6138 chronos and an Omega Dynamic and prefer the less cluttered dial of a two register. Plus they are easier to read with old eyes
  11. That looks great and Josh is my favorite dealer! If the Link GMT came in blue I already would have ordered it as the blue is stunning! So I'm deciding between the plain Link in blue and the GMT in black...
  12. I'm really tempted by the ETA Tag Link GMT Joshua has, but would love to see better pics I really don't like the 2005 model that a few dealers have in the Asian auto with the date subdial at 6:00, it almost looks like a faux chrono rep! Anybody have one yet???
  13. As far as I know this was just a watch he modded for himself and then put up for sale to finance something else? The price was great and he was a good guy to deal with and I had the watch in 3 days or so
  14. Base may have said it was a 'gen' insert but I could not remember for sure and did not want to make any claims After years of collecting and wearing vintage Seiko divers I always thought Subs and Rolex's in general were too small. But on a 105+ day here I find the only thing I wear is my GMT II or this Sub on a bracelet. They really are almost a perfect size!
  15. I got lucky enough to pick this up a couple weeks ago from our own forumer 'Base'. i'd been wanting a good Sub for a while and he made me a great deal on this one that he had modded and we even had a good time making the deal It's the new 1:1 ETA Sub that most of the dealers have with a full polish including the bezel and bracelet brushing and CG's done and an aftermarket insert and has been drilled to accept geniune springbars. He tweaked the bezel and it feels awesome and he made sure everything was clean and the cyclops was lined up and put silicon on all the gaskets. I love it! The fatter gen springbars make a real difference in how it feels on my wrist cpmpared to my other Rollie reps. The one thing I do find odd is, on almost all my reps the hand lume much better then the dial. But on this one the dial lume is better than the hands? I don't expect it to fool an AD (I wear my FM Conquistador into the local Rolex AD ) but it seems pretty darn accurate to me. If any of the experts have comments or criticisms I love to get some feedback!
  16. In November we had to have my best buddy Ginz of 16+ years put to sleep. He was in tremendous pain and it was the right thing to do, but so difficult. A friend sent me this quote: "Not the least hard thing to bear when they go from us, these quiet friends,is that they carry away with them so many years of our lives. Yet if they find warmth therein, who would begrudge them those years that they have so guarded? And whatever they take, be sure they have deserved."--John Galsworth You have my sympathy but know you did the right thing.
  17. Of I knew I could get an IWC with a good dial I would probably lean that way. But this is what the 12:00 markers looked like on the white dial I had, and it looked worse in person than in the pic. Joshua says he can hand pick one, but most of the dealer pics look the same. I really liked the bracelet on the Aquatimer, but I've been told the Link bracelets are really nice too. I'm not much of a Tag fan in general, but the textured dial and the GMT feature and the clean bezel design do looks pretty sweet! Still deciding
  18. How are the markers on your IWC? The 12:00 markers were waaaay off on the white dial I had and they even seem way off on some dealers pics. Joshua said he would hand pick one but it would be nice to know if there were any perfect dials out there!
  19. I have an SMP GMT and a GMT II and a Pam029 But am still leaning towards the Tag. I'd love to see better pics first though!
  20. It's so hot here in Sacramento I really prefer bracelat watche sin the summer. I was at a party last night and it was still over 90 degrees and HUMID at 11:30pm (see picture) I have all the Rollies I need and a very nice FM and prefer sporty/dive watches in the 40mm and a bit bigger range. I had a white dial Aquatimer and loved the case and bracelet, but the 12:00 markers were off and it had some other problems (bent stem, bad bezel color) that soured me a bit. But still a cool watch! Both are ETA with a screw down crown and sapphire (but the Tag is domed, anoher plus) http://perfect-clones.com/tg10014-link-bla...362-p-1420.html I'm trying to decide between the black dial ICW and Joshua's new ETA Tag Link GMT. He says the Tag bracelet is an nice as the IWC and with no rotating bezel you don't have the sloppy bezel issue. Plus the tag is supposed to have a textured dial and I do like those I guess I'm not a big Tag fan because of all the overpriced quartz they sell, but the GMT looks a lot like the Grand Seiko GMT and that's one of my favorite watches. I'm also guessing the Tag would not be called as a rep but the IWC might? Plus I do like GMT watches a lot for some strange reason. Anybody have the new Tag Link ETA (GMT or not) that can comment on overall quality?
  21. Wow! I can see blue dial Pam 89 in my future
  22. Anybody have one of these yet? I'm considering a black dial Aquatimer, but with the problems I had with my last one (and Joshua's luke warm recommendation...) I may jump on the ETA Tag Link GMT I decided my VC Overseas was too dressy and the Tag looks like a good size and much sportier. All the pics of gens I can find have that date sub-dial and the extra pushers which honestly look more like faux rep parts to me? Anyboy have one and have better pics??? Thx
  23. I have the white dial myself and it's a stunner and one of my favorite reps!!
  24. I have Joshua's ETA 2892 Conquistador and it's a complete stunner. I've worn it in to a number of very high end watch AD's and no one has ever questioned it. A bit pricey but well worth it (IMHO) for the high grade movement
