I am green with envy........ wear it well

I do the same thing and agree that what we have here are very special pieces that deserve a different name than "fake" or "replica". I keep being asked about my 196 (Swiss 7753) and my standard positioning is that quality like this can not be had at any of the street markets all over the world that sell replicas, and that the watch is like the original, it just happens to be assembled by somebody else than Panerai

Which Breitling is most accurate and reliable?
lovepanerai replied to grisgris8's topic in The Breitling Area
The Bentley GT looks like it is the most accurate; The dead giveaways on the Navitimers are the date window/date and more so the inner bezel ring should be silverish and not white - if you see the original you will clearly see what I mean -
Thin Crowns And Other Assorted Problems.....i Ask Why?
lovepanerai replied to chad's topic in General Discussion
100% agreed and with us only being "a chip of the tip of the iceberg" that will not change.... -
so she is a replica with a significant flaw....ouch ;-)

fair enough folks ;-) I am glad that it doesn't bother you and thanks for confirming that this was not just on the one that I have received. I hope I didn't trigger that you have to look at it now all the time....?

archibald - I know what you mean, about the marbles :-) same here The crown guard and the crown are known facts and I think they are not that obvious unless you have a genuine right next to it or you inspect photos of it - I just checked out the real thing at Shreeves & Co in SF. A crocked dial print however is something that even somebody who doesn't know Panerai would notice, that however still doesn't bug me, what does is that I am noticing it and that it is the first time that I have seen that flaw - my over 2 year old PAM111 and 118 don't have it....

After having read many posts that talk about Swiss Made movements not being made in Switzerland but in China I thought it makes sense to dig deeper and find out what the facts are. Here is what my short little research project yielded: Definitions of Swiss Made: In order to qualify as "Swiss Made" a watch must have been assembled, adjusted and subjected to official tests in Switzerland. At least 50% of the value of all parts, and its movement must have been made in Switzerland. legally protected indication of Swiss origin. Under terms of the Swiss Federal Council ordinance of December 23, 1971, it can apply only to watches with: -Swiss Movement -Assembled in Switzerland - Final inspection must be done in Switzerland A watch is considered Swiss if its movement was assembled, started, adjusted and controlled by the manufacturer in Switzerland. Eta has 10 factories in Switzerland and several others all over the world, however at a minimum final assembly and QA is done in Switzerland Some of our replicas have ETA movements, however they the majority - if not all of them - lack that distinct "Quality Control" and "Final Assembly" in Switzerland feature It is also likely that the parts being used in the ETA movements that we get in our replicas are from parts that did not pass QC All of these above comments/statements don't mean that we get an inferior product, however it makes what we believe to be Swiss Movements in reality Chinese Movements. Not as Chinese as the CN7750 since it has Swiss DNA but nonetheless Chinese. This also explains why the finish of the movements in genuine watches is usually nicer than on Ofrei's or the "Swiss" movements we see in replicas. The difference between Swiss Made and Swiss AOSC is that Swiss AOSC (Certificate of Origin) is identifying a watch that is assembled in Switzerland with components of Swiss origin. if you like to read further please visit the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry (FH) FH Swiss Made Definition Excerpt from FH: a law "regulating the use of the name 'Swiss' for watches" sets out the minimum conditions that have to be fulfilled before a watch merits the "Swiss made" label. This law is based on a concept according to which Swiss quality depends on the amount of work actually carried out on a watch in Switzerland, even if some foreign components are used in it. It therefore requires that the assembly work on the movement (the motor of the watch) and on the watch itself (fitting the movement with the dial, hands and the various parts of the case) should be carried out in Switzerland, along with the final testing of the movement. It also requires that at least 50% of the components of the movement should be manufactured in Switzerland. cheers and don't let this spoil your appetite for replicas - it certainly doesn't for me

2892/2 with the SOPROD modul gives you the PR at 6 - the PR at 5 on the reps is accomplished with an Asian movement can't be done with 2892/2, the originals are based on a modified Valjoux7750-P1. The 2893 was used in older PAM's with center second e.g. PAM63 the newer Luminor models with small seconds at 9 use a 7750 and the Radiomir 184 uses a JLC movement; I also believe that the jump is refering to the GMT hand advancing from 1 hour to the next in one step rather than gradually Hope that answers your questions ;-)

Replica Vs Gen - What's The Point?
lovepanerai replied to TJGladeRaider's topic in General Discussion
I believe that argument is rather true for 98% of replica owners (Rolex being the most replicated watch) - Only few people on this planet would know that a genuine Breguet sells for $10k up to several 100k$'s -
fantastic looking watch ;-)

@Star hope you don't mind that I used your picture - I just wish my recently recived 111H had that dial....
-
good point, und natuerlich hast Du recht ;-))
-
@Dani - EL's version is supposed to be different (Bezel font is smaller) do you have some pics? THX
-
Jake48 - I agree with you as far as it will always only be a rep, however the fact that there are versions out there where the alignment is perfect is what made me write that post. I have spent a couple of thousand dollars so far on reps and I will continue to do so, aware of the undeniable fact that they will always be reps......
-
no problem, just want to help avoid that others face the same surprise than I did - you look at the dealers picture and it looks great, but what you get than is different. Not complaining so much, but pointing out the fact that in the replica world it is all a game of chance.....
-
awesome and thanks for the additional pictures ;-)
-
you can tell if it is an Asian 7750 if the date font has a closed 6, 9, etc. the early asian movement versions had an open 6. Do you have a pic of the date? thx

PM for 4 sent ;-)

Does it have an Asian 7750 and Saphire? Looks awesome, wear it well....
