Great looking watches. These IWCs are truly worth owning Regards Gran
  2. Now that is true when things are moving along nicely but not necesarily in times of crisis. Furthermore government is always involved at one level or another even in the USA. I beleive that Government can make a difference in times of crisis and should make sure that the rules the free marked is playing by are satisfactory. Lets hope Obamas team can bring optimism into peoples minds again. The raving liberal Gunnar
  3. Not sure about this one. Nice box and all. TAG/Heuers being on the low end of the LUXes. No denying its a nice looking watch with old time elegance to it but probably would not get much wrist time considering all those other great watches out there. Happy Timekeeping Gunnar
  4. SEIKO seem to have many firsts.... SEIKO has launched many epoch-making products in the world http://www.seikowatches.com/heritage/worlds_first.html#p1988
  5. The company started in 1881, when Kintarō Hattori opened a watch and jewellery shop called "K. Hattori" in the Ginza area of Tokyo, Japan. Eleven years later in 1892, he began to produce clocks under the name Seikosha According to Seiko's official company history, Seiko is a Japanese word meaning "exquisite", "minute", or "success" The first watches produced under the Seiko brand appeared in 1924. In 1969, Seiko introduced the Seiko Astron, the world's first production quartz watch; when it was introduced, it cost the same as a medium-sized car. Seiko later went on to introduce the first quartz chronograph. 2005 spring drive was created..... The Seiko Company Seiko is famous worldwide as the leading producer of top quality quartz watches. Not so many people are aware of the fact that the company is also greatly expertized in the mechanical watch technology. Seiko has been involved in the production of mechanical timepieces even longer than Rolex. The history of the company started in 1881 with the foundation of K. Hattori Co that involved in the production of pocket watches in 1895. The first wristwatch produced by the company appeared in 1913 when it developed its own hairspring. The very first watch under the Seiko brand was released in 1924. Seiko watches are produced completely in-house. The Seiko watch-makers do the research and development, design and produce the movement, assemble all the components, produce the case and bracelet. The Seiko Group produces every component of its iconic Spring Drive watch. In Japan, the Seiko Company is highly appreciated as the prestigious producer of luxury mechanical watches worth the chronometer status. Its Grand Seiko and Credo mechanical timepieces are sold for thousands of dollars. Stil wonder what the very first SEIKO watch looked like?
  6. Using those factory pictures and how to set its time accurately implies its genuine....
  7. I read in a post today that SEIKO has produced watches and movements since the 1800s today....is it true? Anyone here know the origin of the brand SEIKO? I guess the name used to be Seikosha and not SEIKO as used today Doing a quick search I found this SEIKO Clock. This could be the first Seiko ever made with a luminous dial On an Japan auctions this Seikosha darkroom timer sold for 5,000 yen ($44). These were used to time your prints while they sat in the various chemicals as you were developing pictures. This could be the first Seiko ever made with a luminous dial
  8. Sure are nice those DOXAs and the caseshape has that 70s look to them. Still I think SEIKO has the best formulae when it comes to divers...price, quality and look all taken into equal consideration
  9. WOW! its almost like and AP ROO on steroids and I do like AP
  10. Maybe if demands are high enough but it will not be an accurate or working one
  11. Horror thread IMO watches better reflect masculine beauty rather than the feminine
  12. agreed.....still they are quite modern and fresh looking
  13. tokunaga-san is the man. He sure did a good jobb and i respect him.
  14. Sure would....love their more advanced movements but save the divers that I love all the watches look like they were also designed by conservative engineers and not by artists
  15. It sure is dingable its one ugly "ladies" watch......it screams [censored]
  16. We all do...only the brand name is so wrong...SEIKO...even CREDOR does not ring well here in Europe (guess CREDOR line can only be bought directly from Japan)
