  1. Importr is your crown screw-down? I think Josh'es details are wrong there, mine does not have screw down crown and I've noticed other dealers does not state it is screw down either.
  2. Mine has blue screws, no fine regulator.
  3. Also received mine today! It is so nice, I'm very happy! Something I noticed, the description (Josh) says it should be screw down crown, mine is not screw down, how about yours?
  4. Aha! Great info! Have to check mine tomorrow =)
  5. The movement looks very nice, I'm sure it's the real deal, but how do you know for sure? Do you have any tell-signs in this picture making sure it's an ETA 2824-2? I have a few 2824-2 based watches my self, the movement in all of them looks exactly like the one in your picture, but I have always been curious whether or not they vere clones or real ETA. When it comes to the A7750 it is easy, there you have the missing fine regulator for one thing, but in this one, what differs?
  6. I agree on this, I think it's a non-issue. Checked the black dial version out this afternoon, and you can hardly make out any details on the TAG logo without looking really really close or using magnification.
  7. Yup, if you compare the pictures side by side you can see that the font differs a bit. Maybe a bit, hard to say how much though since if you look at the pics of the gen here, you see that the numerals reflect the same color as the date window, and this is also true for the rep, same color on numerals as date window. Hard to say from the gen pics if the reflected background can have anything to do with the tinted appearance of the date window and numerals. One flaw of these watches though that seems to appear much less on the white version, judging only by the rep pics, is the instant give away of the blueish rep-AR .. the black gen is never ever blue, in any angle, where as the black rep is blue in just about every angle =( .. nothing a re-AR won't cure of course, but the white dial does not seem to emphasis this as much, which is good.
  8. The dial of the gen is definitely white. I tried it on at the AD last weekend, the dial of the gen _looks_ like the factory pictures of the rep I've seen, although I don't have the rep yet so I can't say exactly how close it is. The gen does not look as the sketch on TAG Heuer's site (which is true for lots of their watches btw), there are of course lots of silver details on the front of the watch, including the bezel, but the dial is definitely white on the gen I tried. Maybe they try to fool the rep factories not just with their "sketches" nowadays, but also by the actual name of the watch =) .. "oh, did we say it was silver?" =D I will compare mine to the one at the AD as soon I get it (it's in the pipe) and let you guys know what I think.
  9. I couldn't help myself, I pulled the trigger on the white one yesterday =)
  10. Great review! Thanx! Guys, the white-dial version of this watch just popped up today on Josh's site! I've been waiting for the white one (simply because almost all my watches are .. black =) ), tempting to go on and place an order
  11. To properly attach the pusher you need to remove the movement, there is a screw on the inside of the case that is screwed down into the pusher, if you try do screw your pusher in place from the outside, this screw will only rotate on the inside, you need to keep it firm in place when screwing the pusher. You can not not reach this screw properly without removing the movement first. A watch smith fixes this really quick, and you can do it yourself also if you feel comfy removing the movement (you will not need to remove the dial for this). Also, after screwing the pusher in place, it is a good idea to secure it with a drop of loctite on the screw inside, so it will not unscrew itself later on. I've had the same problem on two of my watches, neither was i Navitimer, but thats just so you know it is not an uncommon problem. I fixed both of them myself, although I accidentally messed up one of them a bit during the repair =/ .. but managed to fix that later on anyhow.
  12. Fantastic! Do you have the feeling that it gives a smoother winding to the watch when you compare with an average working a7750 rev. wheel?
  13. That is great news Francisco! I wonder if the complete A7750 balance would be interchangeable with the gen ETA complete balance. The ETA complete balance is
  14. Great writeup Francisco! Your writeups are always great! Too bad I didn't have your post in front me when I tried this out a month ago or so =) I had this spinning-rotor-while-winding problem with an a7750 in a Montblanc Timewalker, there were lots of other problems with this movement as well, the chrono reset button was stuck due to the switch (55.271) being out of place on the dial-side, the yoke was out of place due to some bad luck reinserting the crown. Reinserting the crown actually was the thing that caused all movement errors for me in the first place .. incl spinning rotor problem. Before I tried this repair out I had no idea what so ever about the nature of these problems. I read a few posts, got som very valuable info from Watchdog, Toad and others here at the forum, found some tutos here and there, especially this thread from Toads guide is intereseting -> http://www.rwg.cc/members/Pictorial-Unders...+rotor+spinning .. gives you understanding about the nature of the spinning rotor problem, why hand-winding is bad, as well as some info on what gen parts are directly interchangeable with a7750 parts and which are not. I decided to try the repair, so I bought a few tools (screwdriver, movement holder and tweezer) and a few chemicals (acetone for cleaning and moebius D5 oil for oling parts afterwards (this isn't the correct oil for all parts, but the budget I set for this project allowed for one oil only, so I chose the D5)), also bought some spare gen ETA parts, thought it could be handy to have .. bought couple ratchet wheels (this is the wheel that might loose its teeth when handwinding, thought I might be prepared with couple of new ones here if necessary, since this part is cheap and directly interchangeable according to the thread above) and one reversing wheel, also some date wheels .. thought why not change date wheel while at it, bought all stuff from cousins uk. Why do you guys say it is not economical buying the gen ETA reversing wheel, its only
  15. Agree with you toad, the new rotor is cooler .. however, the one on the carrera racing rep is also correct, this was the rotor that were used on the gens 'til 2007 (i think? maybe 2006) But as francisco mentions in his modding-thread, the bearing is incorrect on the rep. Yes the watch is definitely up for some waterproofness, you can see it has double gasket rings when you unscrew the case back, also the pushers has o-rings. But I guess you'd probably want to grease them up a bit with silicone before taking the watch for a dive. I really like the case of the carrera, highly polished with the bevel-like edge around the black bezel, it really feels like an unique design. Also, it is the only watch I have that has ever been noticed by anyone =) .. a guy in the office that I'd never talked to before once said to me "I really like your watch, don't mind forgetting it on my desk some day.." hehe.
  16. I have the Carrera Racing, love that watch, I think it's the one rep that gets most of my wrist time. I've compared it to the gen at the AD, and I think it is very true to the gen. The newer gens have different rotors and the fine adjustment is missing on the A7750, but that stuff is all on the behind of the watch. I always change the datewheel and I also applied AR to the crystal on mine, it makes huge difference on the Carrera Racing, it is absolutely stunning with AR! I think you will love the watch. Never tried it in water though, not even in the shower. I wear mine on a black LE strap with red stitching, I don't like the rubber strap, it goes all the way "into" the case of the watch, so to say, making it stand out a bit before bending along the wrist, do not like the looks of that, it is the same on the gen, I like it more when the strap follows the wrist all the way from the pushpins in the lugs.
  17. Thanks for pointing that out ammandel, was not aware of that. I have been thinking of upgrading anyway, so this is an extra kick in the butt
  18. Yes it does, here you go.
  19. Info: I've still got the blue SFSO and fresh pics of it if anyone is interested. I'm located in Sweden and rather send within the EU. Bought it from josh @ perfect clones, maybe I'll put it out in a sell-topic here at the forum some day ..
  20. Hey KMAC, I bought the blue ultimate SFSO in January, but I don't wear it enough, and might be interested in selling it. Let me know if you are interested and I can take some pictures. It has maybe one week of wrist time, perfect condition. Regards, 801run
  21. Great info freddy (The Zigmeister and offshore as well)! I'm into home made stuff all the way =) If one were to clean movement parts without an ultrasonic machine, would this be an adequat solvent just to use in e.g. a jar and drop the movement pieces into it and stir a bit? I'm a n00b on this and have successfully performed couple of repairs on my watches, but have not been cleaning parts while doing these repairs yet, just wiped them of sort of. I don't want to fork out hundreds of dollars for the ultrasonic (i guess the price is in that ballpark?) just yet, I don't even know the principal of that machine, how it works .. but it would be really nice to be able to clean parts at least to some degree. I was thinking pure acetone at first, your solvent is perhaps more suitable for the machine, it must be water based? Maybe pure acetone in a jar can harm movement parts? Very greatful for any tips about cleaning! Sorry if I'm not using all the correct terms here, not native english speaking .. Cheers! 801run
  22. Thanx for the info The Zigmeister! Someone know, does the gen ETA7750 datewheel work for both the old 21k6 and the new 28k8 A7750? Also, saw e.g. watchpart.co.uk offers the ETA7750 date@3 and date@4.5 datewheels as different products, strange? I thought the 4.5 layout would use the normal date@3 datewheel. Could perhaps be that it is a bit different to work with the gen ETA7753, question is, when going for an ETA datewheel for a rep with 9-6-3 layout and date@4.5 like the MB Timewalker, which probably uses the tri-compax module, should one go for the date@3 wheel anyway? Thanx guys.
  23. I was wondering the exact same thing .. he does that part really fast also, almost seems a bit sloppy =) .. puts the balance in place in like one sec and just nudges it a bit, and then it never stops. I guess it could be momentum? Could the barrel even be wound when putting it in place like he does? Wouldn't it just unwind uncontrollably then? ..
  24. Absolutely! I would definitely put my share into that pot!
  25. Yes I know, that strikes me as well. Feels like an impossible thing to come up with =) .. I'm only guessing, but perhaps the main parts of this caliber is about the same, sort of, as some other more basic movements, and then the chrono functions have been incorporated into the design. It's like adding the dynamo to the wheel of a bicycle, voila you get the lights. So it's probably not such a great invention after all. Lol, only kidding! It's really a great piece of engineering.
